Dodge’s roster of tuned-up vehicles headed for SEMA wouldn’t be complete without an intimidating presence, a gargantuan of sorts that looks all the more imposing when you add some customizations to it.

This year, the 2011 Dodge Durango Citadel “Black and Tan’ fits that bill to a tee. Not content with the standard Durango trim, Dodge->ke28, together with tuner extraordinaire Mopar Underground, took the hulking SUV, outfitted it with trims, gave it a new dimensions, shored up its package, and shined it up really nice. The result is this monolithic beast of an SUV that’s been appropriately designated as the Durango->ke1368 Citadel “Black and Tan”.

INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR

Using the peg ‘tasteful customization’ as its starting block, Dodge and Mopar took to work to give the 2011 Durango just that, giving the SUV a dark and edgy black paint finish that perfectly complements the vehicle’s hulking presence out on the road. In addition to the exterior colors, the Citadel “Black and Tan” was also given a healthy dosing of shiny new digs, including a Mopar/Corsa custom exhaust with polished stainless tips, a customized chrome-textured front grille, and a set of 22-inch forged aluminum Super alloy wheels polished with hyper-silver accents that goes beautifully with the matching Pirelli tires.

As for the interior, Mopar and Dodge made sure to give nothing but top-of-the-line upgrades that provides both upstanding quality and unmatched comfort. Black and tan – hence the name - Nappa leather was the choice material for the seats, which goes really well with sculpted soft panels visible throughout the SUV’s interior.

PERFORMANCE

Chrysler has yet to divulge what kind of engine the Durango Citadel “Black and Tan” comes in, but from the looks of things, we won’t be surprised if the SUV comes with the two variants that the standard 2011 Durango has: the standard fuel-efficient 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine or the up-standard 5.7-liter HEMI engine with a fuel-saving MDS four-cylinder sitting pretty under its hood. The automaker also mentioned that despite the intimidating presence, the SUV can finish up a full tank of fuel after covering more than 500 miles, a stout number for a car that looks to gulp down fuel as fast as a thirsty camel in the desert.

PRICING

Pricing for the 2011 Dodge Durango Citadel Black and Tan is still not known, but as soon as it becomes available, we’ll be sure to give all of you the heads up and the low down on how much one’s going to cost.

COMPETITION

For the show, the 2011 Dodge Durango Citadel Black and Tan will have its hands full against the competition, which includes three different customized 2011 Ford Explorers, a Lincoln MKX, and potentially more loaded up SUVs that will be in attendance at the SEMA floor. Regardless of that fact, there’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that this mammoth SUV from Dodge and Mopar will be a definite head-turner when it shows up at the annual aftermarket tuning event.
