Dodge Challenger->ke249 R/T and SRT8 models will enter the 2013 model year with the addition of two new exterior colors: Plum Crazy and HEMI Orange combined with full-length dual center stripes. Dodge->ke28 also offers a series of updates for both the exterior and the interior.

The SRT8 392 version has been further enhanced by the addition of a series of new and improved high-tech performance features, including an expanded adaptive-damping suspension that allows for three-mode selectable suspension tuning. Unfortunately, no updates have been made under the hood, so both the R/T and SRT8 392 versions keep their usual HEMI V-8 engines.

What you will get for the 2013 model year are two new, well, new-old colors: Plum Crazy and HEMI Orange. And just as it should be, these iconic colors are only available in the R/T and SRT8 392 models, so purists won’t have to lose their minds at the sight of a Plum Crazy or HEMI Orange V-6 model…

Exterior

The 2013 Dodge Challenger will continue to feature the same exterior design elements that were unveiled for the 2011 model year. This means we will see the same trapezoidal front air dam with large openings that provide a better engine cooling, a large "duck bill" front spoiler. In fact, all these design elements have always been a mark of the Challenger model.

For the 2013 model year, Dodge added two new exterior colors for the R/T and SRT8 392: a limited-production run of Plum Crazy available for Challenger R/T Classic and Dodge Challenger SRT8 editions and a HEMI Orange paint offered for Challenger R/T and SRT8 models.

Competitors

When you want to buy a muscle car, there are basically three models to choose from: Challenger, Mustang or Camaro. Each of them is unique in its own different way, and picking the right one depends just on your taste and expectation.

Ford Mustang GT

The 2013 Mustang GT is powered by a 5.0-liter V-8 engine that delivers a total of 420 horsepower. This output puts it somewhere between the R/T and SRT8 Challenger versions, but the Mustang has the advantage of being a little bit cheaper than the upper-level R/T models: $30,750.

On the other hand, you have to consider that the Mustang is the dream car of any 16-years old kid, so maybe you want to do a little bit better than that.

Chevrolet Camaro SS

The Camaro SS is powered by a 6.2-liter V-8 engine that delivers a total of 426 horsepower -- an output that also place it between the R/T and SRT8 versions -- but like with the Camaro is also a little bit cheaper that the top R/T trims: $32,635.

And again, if you ask us the Camaro is not quite the right choice for a man who looks for an aggressive car, and we consider the Challenger a more appropriate choice.

Conclusion

The 2013 Dodge Challenger has always been an icon in the American muscle-car market, and, while its true no major updates have been offered for the 2013 model year, it still remain a first choice for people looking for a high-performance car.
