Mopar came to this year's SEMA Show with more than 20 vehicles, but the coolest ones are those based on the 2014 Dodge Challenger.

The Mopar `14 Challenger joins an already impressive lineup that includes the Mopar ’10 Challenger, Mopar ’11 Charger, Mopar ’12 300, and Mopar ’13 Dart.

This special-edition Challenger will come only in white or black exterior colors combined with blue stripes and the recently resurrected "Shaker" hood. Mopar performed an exhaustive list of updates on the exterior, interior and the performance of the aging muscle car.

Some of the performance mods include a new exhaust, a performance suspension system with lowering springs, and another SEMA star: the Scat Packages.

The Mopar `14 Challenger will be limited to only 100 units and will be put on sale in the second quarter of 2014.

Exterior

The 2014 Mopar Challenger is available in Bright White or Gloss Black colors combined with a "Shaker style" stripe in "Mopar Blue" and a Shaker hood. Customers interested in a more distinctive look can also opt for optional Mopar Blue stripes, including an all-new 'rocker panel" body-side triple stripe with a "Mopar" logo across the doors, or an all-new A-line body-side stripe that wraps over the deck lid and includes the Mopar “Omega M” logo on the rear-quarter panel.

The model also celebrates the return of the Shaker hood with a very cool "Shaker" logo and is further distinguished by a unique Black Vapor grille surround, Black fuel-filler door and Gloss Black deck-lid spoiler with Gloss Black “Mopar Design” badge and “Mopar” quarter-glass decals.

The Mopar `14 Challenger runs a set of 20-by-8-inch Gloss Black aluminum wheels with Mopar center caps.

Overall, the exterior of the Mopar `14 is simple but sexy at the same time. And that Shaker hood sure is a welcome sight.

Interior

The interior is trimmed in Dark Slate and comes equipped with performance front seats with aggressive bolsters in premium black Nappa leather. Mopar Blue accent thread and Mopar Omega M logos embroidered on the seat backs contrast nicely against the black leather.

Mopar Blue thread also finds its way onto the seams of the armrest, pistol-grip shifter boot and the three-spoke, leather-wrapped performance steering wheel.

Drivetrain

Under the hood, the new Mopar `14 Challenger retains the 5.7-liter, HEMI V-8 engine, but we expect to see a few extra ponies on tap -- likely near the 410- to 425-horsepower range -- especially when you start adding in Scat Packages.

Prices

The 2014 Challenger Mopar `14 will arrive in dealerships in the second quarter of 2014, but customers can place their orders starting March 2014. Pricing will be announced at a later date. Unfortunately, Dodge will only produce 100 units before closing up the order books for good, making this the rarest Challenger ever offered.

Competition

Ford Mustang GT

The 2014 model year will be the final one for the current-generation Ford Mustang, so as expected, it will continue to offer the same great features it carried in 2013. The GT version is powered by a 5.0-liter, V-8 engine with an output of 420 horsepower that helps sprint the muscle car to 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds.

The 2014 Mustang GT is priced from $31,695.

Chevrolet Camaro SS

Camaro SS received a refresh for the 2014 model year that includes a new front fascia, hood, rear fascia and bumper cover. Under its hood, the Camaro SS keeps the same 6.2-liter, V-8 engine with 426 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. this is enough to sprint the car from 0 to 60 mph in less than 5 seconds.

The 2014 Camaro SS is priced from $33,055.

Conclusion

The new Mopar `14 Challenger is maybe one of the coolest Challenger models ever from Mopar. Of course, we would have appreciated to hear that the V-8 engine was tuned to deliver more than the standard 375 horsepower, but even so, Mopar offered enough updates to transform the Challenger into a real muscle car. Additionally, with only 100 models marked for production, this bad-boy becomes an immediate collector's item.
