Mopar unveiled two Dodge Challenger Drag Race Package Cars at the 29th Annual Mopar Mile-High Nationals this week-end.
The car is based on the Challenger SRT8, but Mopar dropped approximately 1,000 lbs. off the production Challenger SRT8 by eliminating major production components and systems. To accentuate the weight savings, they also feature added composite, polycarbonate and lightweight components designed for drag racing that will be part of the new Package Car program.
The engine was repositioned to improve driveline angle and weight distribution. The 116-inch wheelbase was shortened by ½ inch. They also feature a front cradle with bolt-in crossmember and solid engine mounts.

Mopar confirmed today that they will unveil the new Dodge Challenger Drag Race Package Car at the 29th Annual Mopar Mile-High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colo. on Sunday, July 13.
The Drag Race package will feature separate paint schemes and is build on the heritage of the 1968 HEMI®-powered Dodge Darts and Plymouth Barracudas.
Based on the Challenger SRT8, Mopar’s modern, factory-prepped Challenger Drag Race Package Car will begin with a special Body-in-White (BIW) from Chrysler’s Brampton, Ontario, Canada assembly plant. It has been updated for modern racing conditions. Special weight-reduction modifications were made by eliminating unnecessary components and systems. To accentuate the weight savings, it will also feature added composite, polycarbonate and lightweight components designed for drag racing. The engine was repositioned and the wheelbase was shortened to improve the driveline angle/clearance and weight distribution.

With Nissan and Renault already sharing stock and a CEO, could the ailing Chrysler be the final piece of Iacocca’s prophecy?

Dodge is offering an official brochure for its 2009 Challenger. And even if you won’t find out as much as from the pres release, the brochure offers pretty good stuff.
For example, you will learn that the R/T Classic is being offered with a coat of B5 Blue, 20" torq-thrust lookalikes, T/A-style stripes, and the old-school script Challenger badge on the front fender.

The 2009 Dodge Challenger will get even more power. With the help of a supercharger from Mopar. The updated vehicle will be unveiled in November at the SEMA show in Las Vegas.
With 2 stages of modification, the power of the 6.1-liter Hemi V8’s engine will grow from 425 hp to 630 hp.
Along with the blower, the ’09 Challenger will get the typical SEMA treatment: a cold-air intake, a high-flow cat-back exhaust system and, of course, a few different sets of rims.
In case you haven’t heard, a flickr user by the name of "mnhotrods" somehow got his hands on a brochure for the Dodge Challenger muscle car and uploaded it for the whole world to see.

The interesting thing to note here is the R/T Classic package, with retro stripes, retro wheels, and a functional hood scoop. Clad in B5 Blue or Hemi Orange, it sure looks like the attention grabber you would assume it to be.
The Challenger R/T, along with a V6 powered SE model, will both hit Dodge dealerships this fall. The brochure should be there any day now...

Soon after the first 2008 Dodge Challenger rolled out of the production line, Speedfactory hurried to get one in order to present their customization program.
The standard vehicle features the 6.1-liter supercharged Hemi V8 which delivers 496 hp but with the first supercharged level from the tuniner, which uses a new centrifugal style supercharger, the engine delivers an astonishing 600 hp! Also 20" staggered forged wheels were added to deliver better stability!

Modern Muscle revealed the 1971 Dodge Challenger R/T, a car that retains its unibody construction, and has been equipped with a chassis upgrades by Modern Muscle. They call a vehicle built this way a "Muscle Car."
The chassis features a Modern Muscle independent front suspension that includes upper and lower control arms and power rack and pinion steering up front. In the rear, it features a four link suspension with coil overs. The result is superlative ride and handling. Big SSBC disc brakes and Modern Muscle signature forged wheels are yet further examples of how this Challenger features 21st century upgrades.
The car is powered by a 6.1 HEMI engine that delivers 597 hp mated by a 5 speed Tremec transmission.
Although Dodge started few days ago to deliver its first 2008 Challengers, this didn’t stop Speedfactory to launch its tuning programmes for the new muscle car. In order to do this, Speedfactory offers six levels of tuning: three normally aspirated and three supercharged.
The first stage, normally aspirated offers a Speedfactory Cold Air Intake, a "Cat Back" Performance Exhaust, Speedfactory Stage 1 Tune , 20" staggered forged wheels, Speedfactory interior and exterior appointments and almost 500 hp. The second level offers CNC Matched Intake Manifold and Heads, Headers, 90mm Throttle Body, Speedfactory Cold Air Intake, "Cat Back" Performance Exhaust, Speedfactory Stage 2 Tune, 20" staggered forged wheels, Speedfactory interior and exterior appointments and 530 hp.
