Back in January Edo Competition has unveiled the Moby Dick->Porsche Panamera package for the Porsche Panamera. With 750 HP under the hood, Moby Dick was a real eye-catcher. Today Edo turned their attention once again on the German sedan, and even if the final output is not as impressive as in the previous package, it still worth talking about it.
The new package is based on the Panamera S model and includes a full performance and aerodynamics makeover. Starting with the engine, the tuner has managed to obtain a total output of 465 HP and a torque output of 405 lbs-ft. For that they are offering a new, pressure-monitoring and self-adjusting exhaust system with butterfly valves and of course ECU calibration. As a result the sprint from 0 to 60 mph will now be made in 4.6 seconds, while top speed has been increased to 190 mph.
For the aerodynamic package the tuner is offering newly developed carbon fiber front skirt with integrated daytime running lights and enlarged air intakes for improved cooling, a new carbon fiber front lip, new carbon fiber rear skirt along with the diffuser and fins, new side mirrors and fender vents and a a ducktail spoiler, reminiscent of the legendary Carrera RS. The car now sits on a new set of ultra-lightweight forged 21" wheels.
The German tuner Edo Competition is usually focusing on models from Ferrari or Lamborghini, but this time they came with the M5 Dark Edition - a 555 HP BMW M5 wagon that wants to prove that even family cars can be fun.
The most important part of he tuning package is of course the engine update. The tuner is offering a recalibrated ECU, high-flow air filters and catalytic converters as well as a newly developed high-performance exhaust system that will increase the engine’s output from 500 to 555 HP and the peak torque from 384 lbs-ft to 413 lbs-ft. Also, after removing the speed limiter the car can hit a top speed of 190 mph. The 0 to 60 mph sprint is also made 0.5 seconds faster (4.2 seconds).
The package also includes a modified front and the new rear skirt, a new rear wing and a new set of 20" light alloy wheels with painted centers and Dunlop tires. The interior combined carbon fiber with precious leather, making the M5 a very elegant and enjoyable car.
It was only a few days ago that we revealed the incredible package provided by Edo Competition for the Koenigsegg CCR and now it seems as if that project was a mere warmup for the tuning firm. Edo Competition has now come out with their "Edo SLR Black Arrow" program for the Mercedes SLR. Their package includes a significant power increase, as well as impressive exterior and interior modifications.
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the Mercedes SLR "Black Arrow" looks to have taken its inspiration from the 2006 Mercedes-Benz SLR "722 Edition", but it sure does take a lot of paint to make it obvious. Splattered along the doors and hood is the number "722" in bright red. This number refers to what’s bucking underneath the hood. The SLR’s V8 engine and supercharges it up to 722 HP, up from the standard 650 HP. With the new output, the Black Arrow will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, while top speed is limited to 214 mph.

There are tons of reasons why tuning firms decide to provide packages for various cars on the market. Aside from the obvious money-making aspect of the business, tuners feel a certain responsibility to take what an automaker has done and push it further. Most of the time, we understand that these vehicles need a bit of work to make them that much better and we applaud the various efforts provided by these tuning companies in doing so. This latest project by EDO Competition is no different. In their latest attempt to push a car deeper into the realm of awesomeness, the German tuning firm has taken a Koenigsegg CCR and fixed it up with a good ol’ fashioned power boost and a kickass exterior body kit.
EDO’s process with the CCR began with a modified ECU to boost power and a modified drive ratio to allow the vehicle to hit its torque peak earlier. The result is a total of 891 HP - up from the standard 806 HP -, and a reduction in the redline to 7,200 rpm. The six speed gearbox was disassembled in its entirety and the plastic bushings were replaced with Uniball units. All of the work to the engine allows the CCR Evolution to get to 62 mph in 3.2 seconds, to 124 mph in 9.7 seconds, and to 186 mph in 23 seconds.
As for the exterior, the tuner is offering a new set of wheels with a coat of charcoal paint and an updated front end with auxiliary lights. The interior of the Koenigsegg was then covered in Alcantara material and a redesigned center console was added to accommodate a new infotainment system with a reversing camera and a custom-made pouch for the immobilizer remote. The display was integrated into the dashboard.
The total Evolution upgrade package for the Koenigsegg CCR will set customers back 40,000 Euros, or $56,828 at the current rates.
Back in 2006, Lamborghini unveiled the Murcielago LP640, a model powered by a 6.5 liter V12 engine with an output of 640 HP. Shortly after, EDO Competition unveiled the LP710 /2 based off of that same model. This Murcielago became the world’s fastest with a bump up from 640hp to 710hp, but that stay at the top was bound to be limited. Now, the German tuner has prepared an even powerful version of the Murcielago LP640.
The V12 engine found in the Lamborghini has been updated to deliver a total of 750 HP and 546 ft-lb of torque, while the sprint from 0 to 60 mph is now made in 3.1 seconds. It’s top speed goes up to an impressive 226 mph which is a considerable improvement over the LP710’s top speed of 219 mph achieved on the Papenburg high speed test track.
