Everyone expected the Frankfurt Motor->ke235 to come with its share of surprise entrants and a new automaker based in London has provided just that with their very first auto show appearance in Frankfurt. They just brought a concept SUV that looks to have the BMW X6->ke2396 and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S in its sights.

The brand is called Eterniti - not to be confused with Infiniti->ke36 - and they've introduced the Hemera concept SUV at the Frankfurt Motor Show. After promising to completely knock the entire auto industry upside its head, Eterniti more than delivered with the introduction of the Hemera, a concept SUV that promised big things leading up to its debut and has more than lived up to it in every which way.

UPDATE 12/19/11: The folks over at Eterniti have released new teaser photos of the Hemera SUV. You'll notice that these two photos feature some slight modifications from what we first saw at the Frankfurt Motor Show, including a redesigned front fascia and new bespoke headlights. According to Hemera, the design modifications were partly done to further differentiate the Hemera from the car that it was based on, the Porsche Cayenne->ke212. Expect a few more nip and tucks done on the Hemera leading up to its debut at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show.

Exterior and Interior

The Eterneti Hemera is being touted as the very first luxury SUV in the world. If it looks a little familiar, it's because that it's based on a Porsche Cayenne and comes with all the bells and whistles of a luxury vehicle. There's the prevalent use of carbon composite body panels, as well as the plethora of LED lights spread out on various parts of the vehicle. Somehow, it wouldn't surprise us if people confuse the Hemera for any one of those tuned-up Cayennes->ke212 that's available in the market today.

Inside, the Hemera also comes with some unique features, including electrically-reclining seats that each have their own heating and cooling mechanisms. In addition, the Hemera also has items like wireless keyboards, iPads, and even a cooler, further giving credence to Eterniti's lofty claims for the luxury SUV.

Performance

The Eterniti Hemera is expected to carry an impressive powertrain, featuring a 4.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that produces as much as 620 horsepower. Torque figures have yet to be announced, but there appears to be a growing number of people that will attest to the super SUV's capability to hit a top speed of 180 mph. Should that be the case, we're prepared to just let the Hemera and the Infiniti FX Sebastian Vettel Edition go toe-to-toe to see which one is faster than the other.

Pricing

While there's no official declaration of pricing for the Eterniti Hemera, the popular sentiment is that the SUV will carry a basic price tag of £150,000, which is around $238,000 based on current exchange rates.

Competition

It's tempting to compare the Eterniti Hemera with all the aftermarket Cayennes we brought up earlier. But for the sake of comparison relative to the circumstances, we'd really love it if the Hemera and Infiniti's FX Sebastian Vettel Edition went outside to the streets of Frankfurt for a nice little quarter-mile shakedown.

Both SUVs are offering something that very few of its contemporaries can boast of, specifically top speeds hitting 180 mph. That type of burn is very rare for SUVs of any kind, so on that merit alone, watching the Eterniti Hemera and the Infiniti FX Sebastian Vettel Edition is something we'd definitely pay to see.
