Jeep is celebrating the launch of the Grand Cherokee SRT8 on the European market with two custom-built versions of the SRT8 called the Ferrari Editions. It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to figure out that the SRT8’s transformation will be all about getting it to look like a Ferrari, at least in terms of colors and styling. Highlighting the transformation are exclusive Rosso Corsa colored exteriors, red leather interiors, and other odes to Ferrari, including being delivered to the Fiorano circuit in Maranello, Italy by Scuderia Ferrari Formula One drivers, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa.
The two special Gran Cherokee SRT8 units are painted in a special Rosso Corsa paint finish and then combined with a matte-black front grille and matte black dual-pane sunroof. The standout feature of the paint job is the race-inspired, glossy black driver’s stripe with a white accent going from the front bumper up through the hood, roof, rear spoiler, and ending at the rear bumper. The aggressive look of the car provided by the SRT-exclusive design and the Italian flag painted on the underside of the rear spoiler add to the appeal and are topped off with a new set of unique forged aluminum, 20-inch wheels painted black and a lowered (1.5 inches) suspension.
The interior of the Grand Cherokee Ferrari Edition comes with exclusive Ferrari Red leather inserts on the seats with sculpted bolsters. The leather-wrapped SRT 8 steering wheel with mounted paddle shifters features red contrasting stitching, while the unique instrument cluster features yellow dials which give the cabin the look of the GT cars produced in Maranello.
If there was ever an SUV that could be categorized as automotive porn, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Ferrari Edition would be it. Unfortunately, the two shown in the picture will be the only two ever made unless a tuning firm picks it up somewhere. Hint, hint, all you tuners!

If taking a trip to the Isle of Man was ever on your agenda, you may want to take it sooner rather than later. And while you’re there, send your friends a postcard with one of the latest, specialized stamps: TopGear stamps. A set of six stamps featuring a selection of the most bizarre and ingenious automotive challenges featured on the most popular auto show on British television has just been released, making every die hard collector quiver in their memorabilia rooms.
The six stamps each feature of the most innovative transport solutions created by Clarkson, Hammond, and May. And as you may remember from the show, most of these cars didn’t actually work very well, some of them caught fire or sank, occasionally simultaneously, but they are just the perfect proof that people can get very inventive.
The cars featured in these stamps are motorhomes, the Triumph Herald sailboat, the Robin Reliant Space Shuttle, the Polar Hilux, the Caravan Airship, and the Hammerhead Eagle i-Thrust.

The Hulme CanAm is an ultra high-performance, mid-engined roadster that was only built in a limited run of 20 units. Anyone who missed out on that opportunity needs to listen up. Hulme has now sprouted a sibling to the CanAm called the F1. Don’t let the name confuse you; this new, true driver’s car is a road going model and complies with the European Small Series certification for use in all 27 EU states plus many others that accept EU certification.
The Hulme F1 was named in honor of Denny Hulme, New Zealand’s only Formula One World Champion and double CanAm Champion. It will be constructed of a state of the art carbon/titanium/kevlar composite chassis along with composite body panels to ensure a total weight of only 2380 lbs. It will feature an F1 style high down force and will be equipped with the latest crash absorption systems and a fully developed ABS electronic driver aid system to provide a safe driving experience.
The F1 will be powered by a hand built, supercharged, 700 HP engine developed in cooperation with "Nicholson McLaren." Hulme says it will provide amazing torque and tractability , but no official performance numbers can be given because the car hasn’t been built yet.
Production notwithstanding, Hulme is already accepting "Options to Purchase" agreements for their new roadster and the first deliveries will be made in late 2012. Once production begins, the Hulme F1 will only be built in a limited run of 20 units.
Stay tuned for more details on the Hulme F1!
UPDATE 10/04/2011: Hulme has just released a six minute long video detailing the story behind the Hulme Supercar. In it, Hulme’s goes into how unique and special the car is and how great it would be to own a truly individual supercar. Marketing ploys and investment seeking aside, the Hulme supercar does have a certain appeal to it.

When Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences announced the Electric RaceAbout (E-RA) last month, many didn’t pay much attention to it, but those same people are taking notice now. The E-RA has turned out to be a real menace out on the track, setting the new EV record at the Nurburgring.
The E-RA was driven by German race driver, Ralf Kelleners, during the attempt in which he needed to complete a full lap of 20,832 km in a time of only 8 minutes and 42.372 seconds. The world famous curvy and hilly Nurburgring track is also known as "Grüne Hölle" - Green Hell - and widely used to benchmark the automotive top performance. It was put to good use for this attempt.
The average speed for the lap was 88 mph and the top speed was clocked in at 147 mph. What’s more impressive is that, during testing, the car hit a top speed of 151 mph. The E-RA consumed 25.6 kWh during its record lap, measured as energy taken from the grid to recharge the battery. This results in an energy consumption of 1230 Wh/km or 123 kWh/100km for the lap.
If you thought the Volkswagen NILS was a crazy concept, check out Citroën’s latest vehicle. This car looks like the guys over at Citroën dropped acid and designed an out-of-this-world van to capture the most fun out of a long journey.
The Tubik pays homage to its old predecessors, the 1939 Tub van and the 1948 Type H that was in production until the late 70s. The Tubik features a major leap in technology and design, probably none of which will ever see production. But boy do we love dreamers....
The images provided by Citroën are intended to capture the public with "a concept car designed to make travel meaningful again." That being said (by Citroën), we couldn’t think of a groovier way to travel than in this modern, MPV-type, snout-nosed people carrier.
The entire cabin is replete with violet lounge seats, glass encasing, and probably enough LED lighting to make Audi blush with embarrassment. And take a look at the driver’s quarters, it looks like something Segway makes. The cockpit, if that’s what you can call it, is a dizzying array of curved inserts, euphoric lighting, and a bizarre seat. The spoke-less, magically lit (with center-mounted LCD screens for side views) is something that we think should go into immediate production..yesterday.
If Citroën decides to make anything remotely like this concept, snatch it up out of an abundance of "wow" factor.
Hit the jump to see a short press release and images of the baffling, beautiful concept.
