2011 Ferrari 458 Italia by Underground Racing

The guys from Underground Racing really do have some fantastic projects coming out of their North Carolina-based firm and their latest tuning project will surely match up to the newly-formed high expectations for the twin-turbo loving tuners. Most recently known for the lavish twin-turbo kits for the Lamborghini Gallardo and Murcielago, Underground Racing is in the process of slapping on another luscious turbo kit to a different kind of supercar: the Ferrari 458 Italia .

Details on the kit have not surfaced yet, but Underground Racing has provided these teaser images as a carrot-dangling attempt to lead us to their finishline. And it most definitely worked.

The Ferrari 458 Italia by Underground Racing will no doubt feature over 1000hp, since most of their other tuning projects boast of the same type of power, and will mean a horsepower amount that will almost double that of the standard 570hp. Not bad for a vehicle that Underground Racing readily admits is already fabulous in its own right.

"Even though we were extremely impressed with the handling and all the other cool features of the 458, we knew there was something missing. So it was then time for the Underground Racing team to design a 458 Twin Turbo system. As the pictures show, this is what we came up with. We will have a Twin Turbo system with a stock engine as Stage 1. The built engine with Twin Turbo system will be stage 2."

UPDATE 09/02/2011: It’s been months since we heard anything about Underground Racing’s Twin Turbo 458 Italia, but the tuning firm has just laid out a new video showing what the sports car can do when equipped with the Twin Turbo Stage 1 package. This upgrade will leave owners with an impressive 700 rear-wheel horsepower on pump 93 octane fuel. Don’t worry, a 1,000 HP model will follow!

UPDATE 10/25/2011: How can a galloping stallion beat out a raging bull? Add a few more horses. Underground Racing has pitted their Twin Turbo Ferrari 458 Ferrari 458 Italia against Lamborghini’s all new Aventador for a little racing action. This time around the 700 rear-wheel horsepower Ferrari Ferrari whipped the 700 HP Aventador into shape, but Underground Racing promises a Twin Turbo Aventador is on the way. Check out the video of the duel after the jump!

I agree on you on that one! The paint job makes this car look elegant just like a Mercedes car. And hey! Is this true that they have boost the power up to 1000hp! Wow!
That’s great it feels like driving a Bugatti car.

why did they remove the rear fender?? lol i cant wait to see what they come up with. but Ill never be able to buy it.....(sad face)

So, what do they mean by impressive handling but something is missing? I want to read more about this article, and I hope to a race against other super cars!

I think the predecessor looks much better compare to the recent modified version. However, I can see the improvement on its performance. Well nice job!

Twin turbo on a high compression in Ferrari engine is not the smartest idea though.
This may be the cause of your constant rebuilding in you car.

The built engine with Twin Turbo system will be stage 2,Not bad for a vehicle that Underground Racing readily admits is already fabulous in its own right.

oh!! Cars is so amazing. It cheers you up!!.Definitely, stands you on the crowd!!

So, understandably, for the guys at Underground Racing, a stock Ferrari 458 Italia just won’t cut it.

the kit is still in development so no performance figures have been divulged as yet. However, if Underground Racing’s previous work is any indication, you can expect it to be one heck of a power-up.

why not ? it cheers me up ..i was just wondering about scud version of the italia, twin turbo and 100 kg lighter

Why would someone turbo it, ruining the distinct flat-crank sound and power delivery, while shortening the engines usable service life EVEN more? Doesn’t seem like the smartest decision, honestly...but what do I know? I don’t own ANY Ferrari’s!

Underground Racing is well known for its performance upgrades for the Lamborghini Gallardo and Murcielago, most notably additional turbochargers. Now it has turned its hand to the Ferrari 458 Italia.

This is probably one of the earlier Enzo prototype that’s solely made for engine testing. I’m sure there are many other Enzo prototypes for aerodynamic and other testing, but based on the statement in this article, those are probably sold or destroyed already.

Wow... Amazing car, not only that, but also as rare as it gets... i’m scared to even think how much it will go for now... but in 30 or 40 years... something like this will easy beat prices of GTO’s...

They should build this with the top off! To see the engine all the time smiley

yes and it looks like you cannot have it in twice the price of the Italia. and like what you’ve said spending those money is worthy.

dang this is really a master piece, I wonder how much taxes did they payed to tune this baby for some aftermarket parts... but for sure every penny or Benjamin they spent is worthy.
