2011 Ferrari SA Aperta

  Review

Ferrari will unveil at the Paris Auto Show the special edition SA Aperta, an open-top version of the now famous 599. The model comes to celebrate Pininfarina’s 80th anniversary and will be limited to only 80 units.

The SA Aperta is powered by a V12 engine that delivers an impressive 670 HP. It features a low-slung windscreen, a redesigned chassis. Its profile arches back from the A-post to two aerodynamic fins beautifully integrating the two roll-bars which themselves cleverly mimic the outline of the seats.

The interior gets sophisticated materials, trim and colors used throughout. Ferrari announced that each SA Aperta will be an unique model.

In the official press release Ferrari said: "The SA APERTA is a true roadster which allows its occupants to enjoy the superlative emotions afforded by our signature front-engined V12 architecture in a completely open-top setting. In fact, it has just a light soft top designed to be resorted to only if the weather gets particularly bad."

UPDATE 05/09/11: The 80-piece Ferrari 599 SA Aperta is about a rare a modern-day Ferrari can get. Introduced last year at the Paris Motor Show in line with Pininfarina’s 80th anniversary, the Italian supercar is the personification of Ferrari limited edition madness. In this new video of the car, YouTube user Marchettino takes us on an up-close look at the limited run 599. Check out the video after the jump and see what the 599 SA Aperta is all about.

Press release

Ferrari is delighted to announce the presentation of the SA APERTA at the Paris International Motor Show 2010. This is a special series model of which a strictly limited number of just 80 will be built. All have already been sold. Ferrari chose to build 80 SA APERTAs in celebration of Pininfarina’s 80th anniversary. The SA nomenclature also pays homage to both Sergio and Andrea Pininfarina whose company and work have been linked to the most successful road-going cars ever built at Maranello.

The SA APERTA is a true roadster which allows its occupants to enjoy the superlative emotions afforded by our signature front-engined V12 architecture in a completely open-top setting. In fact, it has just a light soft top designed to be resorted to only if the weather gets particularly bad. A low-slung windscreen and the fact that it crouches lower to the ground than our other models lend the SA APERTA an exceptionally aerodynamic sleekness. Its profile arches back from the A-post to two aerodynamic fins beautifully integrating the two roll-bars which themselves cleverly mimic the outline of the seats.

The chassis has been redesigned to deliver a standard of stiffness comparable to that of a closed berlinetta and there is a negligible weight difference also, thanks to work done on the chassis structure.

Thanks to the 670 CV engine beneath its bonnet, the SA APERTA beautifully embodies the sporty spirit of the 599, incorporating Ferrari’s most advanced technology to deliver absolutely benchmark performance and superb driving pleasure. Its interior too is stylishly sporty with particularly sophisticated materials, trim and colours used throughout. The virtually endless combinations available guarantee that each and every SA APERTA is absolutely unique.

Between this and the regular 599, I would probably prefer the latter. Don’t get me wrong, the Aperta is also really good, but I prefer the looks of the regular 599.

Yeah, they probably have some of the models already signed off to their owners. But then again, even if there are still some units left, we probably won’t be able to get our hands on them easily.

Wow, this one is definitely going to be a must own. It’s just too bad that this one is a limited edition, and about half of all the units are probably sold out already.

But I thought, the Ferrari 599 as the successor of the quite successful Ferrari FF isyet to plan? But how come an Spyder version was already out? I’m quite confuse. However, for a limited edition car this one has a good performance!

shut up you are so dumb...corvettes can lick my armpits. a vette is by no means near the performance and passion of a ferrari. in fact, in a race a vette would get smoked and you know that too, so stop talking out of your a** idiot. you should be banned from this site, no retards knowing nothing about cars should brag about how good corvettes are you rodent

corvette owners wish and dream that their car would look as sexy as this Ferrari. they wish they could have the performance AND the passion and personality that a Ferrari has.
