  Review

Ferrari will unveil at the Paris Auto Show the special edition SA Aperta, an open-top version of the now famous 599. The model comes to celebrate Pininfarina’s 80th anniversary and will be limited to only 80 units.

The SA Aperta is powered by a V12 engine that delivers an impressive 670 HP. It features a low-slung windscreen, a redesigned chassis. Its profile arches back from the A-post to two aerodynamic fins beautifully integrating the two roll-bars which themselves cleverly mimic the outline of the seats.

The interior gets sophisticated materials, trim and colors used throughout. Ferrari announced that each SA Aperta will be an unique model.

In the official press release Ferrari said: "The SA APERTA is a true roadster which allows its occupants to enjoy the superlative emotions afforded by our signature front-engined V12 architecture in a completely open-top setting. In fact, it has just a light soft top designed to be resorted to only if the weather gets particularly bad."

UPDATE 05/09/11: The 80-piece Ferrari 599 SA Aperta is about a rare a modern-day Ferrari can get. Introduced last year at the Paris Motor Show in line with Pininfarina’s 80th anniversary, the Italian supercar is the personification of Ferrari limited edition madness. In this new video of the car, YouTube user Marchettino takes us on an up-close look at the limited run 599. Check out the video after the jump and see what the 599 SA Aperta is all about.

Press release

Ferrari is delighted to announce the presentation of the SA APERTA at the Paris International Motor Show 2010. This is a special series model of which a strictly limited number of just 80 will be built. All have already been sold. Ferrari chose to build 80 SA APERTAs in celebration of Pininfarina’s 80th anniversary. The SA nomenclature also pays homage to both Sergio and Andrea Pininfarina whose company and work have been linked to the most successful road-going cars ever built at Maranello.

The SA APERTA is a true roadster which allows its occupants to enjoy the superlative emotions afforded by our signature front-engined V12 architecture in a completely open-top setting. In fact, it has just a light soft top designed to be resorted to only if the weather gets particularly bad. A low-slung windscreen and the fact that it crouches lower to the ground than our other models lend the SA APERTA an exceptionally aerodynamic sleekness. Its profile arches back from the A-post to two aerodynamic fins beautifully integrating the two roll-bars which themselves cleverly mimic the outline of the seats.

The chassis has been redesigned to deliver a standard of stiffness comparable to that of a closed berlinetta and there is a negligible weight difference also, thanks to work done on the chassis structure.

Thanks to the 670 CV engine beneath its bonnet, the SA APERTA beautifully embodies the sporty spirit of the 599, incorporating Ferrari’s most advanced technology to deliver absolutely benchmark performance and superb driving pleasure. Its interior too is stylishly sporty with particularly sophisticated materials, trim and colours used throughout. The virtually endless combinations available guarantee that each and every SA APERTA is absolutely unique.

The design was very impressive as well as the performance. Powered by V12 engine, 2011 Ferrari SA Aperta can accelerate up to 670 horsepower, pretty striking.

SA Aperta still looks good with any color. smiley Moreover, although it is a sports roadster, I noticed that they as yet keep up the decent looks of a vehicle which is quite impressive on it.

V12 engine is really promising for this Aperta, and it would truly so fun to drive with on that barrel which has an output of 670 horsepower. However, its exterior detailing is not that impressive.

It seems too huge on its back! Anyway, I love the sharp platform of this Aperta, and I have to agree that it is already looking great with its body paint. However, I wonder if what’s the engine specification of it?

Aperta is truly a very attractive roadster, and I’m impressed on it, especially on its powerful engine output, which gives me the idea that it is so fun to drive with!

The color option for its body paint is definitely looking great on it. Anyway, the V12 engine is absolutely so impressive on this one, although its kind of dangerous for a convertible car like this one.

This one is absolutely looking great and striking on that looks and sleek body paint. Anyway, I’m wondering if what will really be the figure performance of this one? I hope that it’s impressive as well as its exterior.

Yeah, I admit there are lots of much better Ferrari cars and most of it are truly amazing. And I think, this car is one of the best. It will not be in the most famous version if it’s not.

Its front reminds me of the Scuderia/ Maserati car. I have to agree that this is not the best car among Ferrari model. BTW, the open-top version is the only good point of this car.

hmm. Well, I guess this is not the best production car that was built by the Ferrari. And I think the performance of this car is not a great as the FF or the Italia. However, I love seeing this car in different colors! At least they haven’t stick with the traditional color red!
