Introduced to the public at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show and launched for the 2013 model year, the Ferrari F12berlinetta quickly became one of the most desirable grand tourers on the market. The F12 came to replace Ferrari ’s previous 2-seat berlinetta, the 599 . Built around an aluminum space frame chassis, the F12 brought numerous improvements to the 599. as it was 20 percent more rigid and 150 pounds lighter, and the new chassis also allowed Ferrari to lower the car’s center of gravity by one inch. For 2014, the F12berlinetta has spawned a special edition coming all the way from China. Dubbed Polo Edition, this unique F12berlinetta was crafted by Ferrari’s first Tailor-Made Center in Asia Pacific and reaches into the spotlight to celebrate the Chinese Year of the Horse.
This new model was inspired by the game of polo (not the fancy golf shirts), a horseback team sport played in Asia for more than 2,000 years. The one-off F12 also pays tribute to the company’s passion for speed and racing. A prancing horse that celebrates horse racing, if you will.

Ferrari F12berlinetta Polo Edition in detail
Just like the Ferrari FF Dressage , the F12berlinetta Polo Edition is wrapped in a special coat of paint — in the FF Polo Edition’s case it is a white hue called Bianco Italia Opaco. Complementing the white suit is a set of Navy Blue stripes added to evoke Ferrari’s racing DNA. As intended, this F12 reminds us of the rare white Ferraris that used to storm the race tracks back in the late 1950s.
The racing theme continues in the cockpit, where it blends brilliantly with the F12’s luxurious and sporty attributes. The sports seats are trimmed in dark-blue and white leather, with additional white stripes running from the seating surface nearly all the way to the top. White contrast stitching highlights the dashboard and oozes onto the door panels. Rounding off the cabin are several carbon-fiber inlays that pay tribute to Ferrari’s more recent racing history.
The Italians make no mention of the car’s powertrain, so it’s safe to assume the 6.3-liter, V-12 engine is still stock. That’s far from being a drawback though, as the unit cranks out 740 horsepower and 508 pound-feet of torque. Routed to the wheels by means of an seven-speed, F1 dual-clutch transmission, the oomph enables the F12berlinetta to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds. Along with that comes a top speed of 211 mph and an eargasm-inducing exhaust note.
Ferrari’s first Tailor-Made Centre in Asia Pacific opens in Shanghai, China, to provide exclusive tailor-made service to Ferrari owners. The brand-new centre is located on West Beijing Road, one of the most prosperous areas in Shanghai, with world-class facilities and provide the best services to create bespoke Ferraris through unique combinations of the many options available. Mr. Edwin Fenech, President and CEO of Ferrari Greater China unveiled the Tailor-Made Centre which marked another new milestone for Ferrari in the Asia Pacific.
To celebrate the opening of this new centre, Ferrari designed two special Tailor-Made V12 flagship models to share the legendary brand spirit in Chinese cultural way – F12berlinetta Polo Edition and FF Dressage Edition, with the Year of the Horse logo on the steering wheel and centre console. These two tailor-made models are inspired by horse racing, which was originated from the historical noble sports in Europe, perfectly integrating with the art of Ferrari Tailor-Made service, representing the unique and renowned heritage of the prancing horse in terms of elegance and passion in speed.
The F12berlinetta Polo Edition in the newly decorated Tailor-Made Centre is under spotlight during the opening ceremony. Inspired by the polo, this V12 sports model is customized to showcase the power and speed. The body is painted in the colour of Bianco Italia Opaco with special design of navy blue racing stripes on the bonnet, demonstrating the authentic Ferrari’s racing DNA in typical Italian style. The interior is particularly consistent to the exterior theme with paralleled racing lines on the high-quality leather upholstery. Carbon-fibre elements are well interpreted for the sports sense of this F12berlinetta.
FF Dressage Edition is inspired by the elegant equestrian sport. It is painted in Black Piano Nero while the cabin is trimmed with reddish saddle brown leather. The grid-pattern sewing style in the front seats makes it more comfortable and composing during the ride, which is essential for a versatile 4RM GT car.
“Each Ferrari is unique. Ferrari’s customization tradition began in 1950’s when the brand just started.” said Mr. Edwin Fenech, “the Greater China is the second largest market for Ferrari, the Tailor-Made service will provide top-class services to our exclusive customers with unique luxurious experiences, perfectly meet the growing demands of more creative personalization among Chinese customers.”
