Ferrari 458 Monte Carlo Ordering Books Now OpenedLast year we heard the first rumors about a possible Ferrari 458 Monte Carlo sports car, and today, it has been announced that the Italian company has officially opened the ordering book for the new sports coupe. Ferrari also announced that the new model will be presented to selected clients in the second part of the summer, while a public debut will be made in September at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. Deliveries will begin in early 2014. The new 458 Monte Carlo will be built as a high-performance version of the 458 Italia and is rumored to deliver an extra 50 horsepower over the standard 458 Italia. Translated, this means we will see at least 620 horsepower under the hood, and when combined with a lighter car, improved suspensions and brakes you will definitely obtain a car ready to take on any race track out there. Rumors suggest the new version will look a lot like the 458 Challenge race version and will feature a more aggressive exterior kit and a stripped-out interior. Other rumors suggest that the model will be in fact called Challenge Stradale, just like the old 360 model did. More details will follow in the upcoming weeks. Larry Roth Takes Delivery of America’s First Ferrari F12berlinettaRemember when Ferrari decided to auction off the first F12berlinetta in the U.S. as part of its contribution to relief efforts stemming from Hurricane Sandy? Long Island resident Larry Roth won that auction, paying $1.125 million for the Italian supercar. It might have been way more than the $315,888 retail price of the F12berlinetta, but since it was for a good cause, we don’t think Roth had any problem opening up his checkbook. After months of waiting, Roth’s generosity and patience has finally paid off after he took delivery of the first production F12berlinetta in the U.S. Good things come to those who wait and we assume that Roth is pretty thrilled to finally have the supercar in his hands. He deserves it too after the tremendous bid he put up to win the auction. We just hope he takes real good care of it seeing as he paid quite a premium to own it. Video: Ferrari FF winter testings
It’s time to take a break from all the LaFerrari and F12berlinetta news and turn our attention to an "older" Ferrari model: the FF. The car was reviewed by the guys over Motor Trend in the latest episode of Ignition. The review was made by Carlos Lago who tested the FF at the Ferrari winter driving school in Colorado. Apparently the Ferrari’s 651-horsepower, all-wheel drive production car does a pretty good job on the snow as he seemed to have lots of fun. Once he was done playing in winter conditions, the team hits the road to examine the finer points of the car’s unique personality. As a reminder, the FF is powered by a V-12 engine that delivers a total of 651 horsepower and 503 pound-feet of torque. It goes from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds and up to a top speed of 208 mph. Video: Ferrari Exhibition Opens its Doors
Just a few days ago, we reported that the new LaFerrari supercar will be on display at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello as a part of the "Ferrari Supercar. Technology. Design. Myth" exhibition. Today, the exhibition officially opened its doors and will stay like this until September 30th. Next to the new LaFerrari supercar, visitors will also be able to admire other great supercars offered by the Italian company, including the 250 GTO, F40, F50, Enzo, GTO Evoluzione, F40 Competizione, 599XX, FXX and many more. At the same exhibition, visitors will also have the opportunity to learn about the entire process from the car’s initial conception to the final approval, and they will have the opportunity to see two full-scale models showing the car in various stages of its development process. Until you have the chance to arrive in Maranello, watch this video to get an idea of what the new Ferrari exhibition has to offer. 2013 Ferrari F12 N-LARGO by Novitec RossoLate last year, Italian tuner Novitec Rosso introduced to us its very first program for the Ferrari F12berlinetta. Where that program came with a pretty hefty performance upgrade, the tuner’s new body kit for the F12berlinetta, as shown by English Novitec Rosso distributor, Scuderia Systems, is all sorts of bonkers, too. According to Scuderia Systems, the kit is called N-LARGO - yep, all caps - and judging by the rendering photos of the F12berlinetta sporting it, these components are just what the doctor ordered. Details have yet to be divulged, but it certainly appears that the entire kit is going to be made entirely out of lightweight carbon fiber. In addition, you can plainly see the new components on the F12berlinetta, including a new front bumper, a new hood with a distinctive air vent, wider fenders on the front and rear, new side skirts, and a new rear spoiler and diffuser. Needless to say, the N-LARGO body is just mind-blowing. As far as performance enhancements, expect to see the same upgrade Novitec Rosso already introduced last year. You know, the one wherein the tuner calibrated mapping for injection and ignition, increasing the output of the F12berlinetta to 763 horsepower and 518 pound-feet of torque with a new top speed of 214 mph. 2014 Ferrari LaFerrariAfter years of speculation, the successor of the legendary Ferrari Enzo is finally out. The supercar made its world debut today at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show and it comes with a rather unexpected surprise: its name! Previous rumors suggested the model could be called either F70 or F150, but Ferrari decided to go with something odd: LaFerrari! No, it is not a joke! Why did the company make such a radical decision on the name? Well, the answer is offered by Ferrari’s President, Luca di Montezemolo himself who declared: "because it is the maximum expression of what defines our company – excellence." While we appreciate his answer, we still have to admit the name sounds a little bit silly. Everything else on the new LaFerrari is also a big surprise, starting with its exterior design language and up to the innovative HY-KERS system used for the first time in a production version Ferrari. We all agree that the chance to see a Ferrari 458 Italia on the road next to you is pretty rare, but the guy who shot this video was even "luckier." He caught a 458 Italia indeed, but he saw something more! He passed the Ferrari and, as you can imagine, the driver wasn’t very happy about it. The 458 Italia driver tried to push it on slippery roads, and lost control of his precious 458, smashing it into a wall in the process. The bad news is that the car suffered serious damages, but, as we can tell from the video, it looks like the driver was ok besides a bruised ego and a lighter wallet. As a reminder, the 458 Italia is powered by a 4.5-liter V-8 engine that delivers a total of 570 horsepower and it hits 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. Ferrari has More Than 1,000 Requests for the LaFerrariUnveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, the new LaFerrari is going to hold the front page for many weeks. Today, Ferrari announced that more than one thousand customers placed request for the new supercar, despite its huge price of more than $1 million, which is still unconfirmed. Still, Ferrari will not build more than 499 units in an attempt to keep it exclusive. The company also announced that the LaFerrari is "an extraordinary car, destined to our collectors," so, if you were planning to buy one, but you don’t have an large number of Prancing Horses in your garage you have to forget about it! As a reminder, the new LaFerrari uses a hybrid system that delivers a total of 963 horsepower. It sprints from 0 to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds and from 0 to 186 mph in just 15 seconds. Top speed is limited to 217 mph. To learn more about the new LaFerrari, check its new official web page: http://www.laferrari.com. Video: Ferrari LaFerrari in Geneva
Ferrari impressed the world with its new LaFerrari supercar that it unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. For those of you who didn’t have the chance to be in Geneva, YouTube user, Marchettino, prepared a surprise: a video of the new supercar shot on the show floor. The video reveals the supercar on both the exterior and the interior, so you will have the chance to admire the amazing design language and the carbon-fiber-wrapped cabin. As a reminder, the LaFerrari features a hybrid system that combines a 6.3-liter V-12 engine with two electric motors for a total output of 963 horsepower. It goes from 0 to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds and up to a top speed of more than 217 mph. The problem is that the new LaFerrari will be limited to only 499 units and will be priced at an astonishing €1.3 million (about $1.7 million at the current exchange rates). It has been rumored that most of the units have already been spoken for. |
