The Fiat 500 Abarth is headed to the 2014 SEMA Auto Show->ke216 looking nastier than it's ever been thanks to Mopar and its showcase piece for the 500 Abarth. The model is aptly called the 500 Abarth Scorpion, and like the name implies, it offers a lethal dose of aftermarket sting for the Italian sports hatchback.->ke304

The tuning concept features a load of exterior and interior styling tweaks, the kind that Mopar created to present the 500 Abarth in a more aggressive light. The result is pretty impressive, especially for a car whose size doesn’t do justice to its impressive performance capabilities. The exterior upgrades create a sporty and stylish tone for the program, highlighted by the massive Abarth Scorpoion logo prominently plastered on the vehicle's hood. The two-tone red-and-white finish is a highlight in its own right, but it’s hard to overthrow the visual dominance of that Abarth Scorpion logo. Once people see it, they’ll know that this isn’t just a middling city car that’s happy to smile for the cameras. The 500->ke1708 Abarth Scorpion is as deadly on the road as its predatory arthropod namesake is out in the wilderness.

Give proper credit to Mopar for proudly showing the tuning possibilities of the 500 Abarth Scorpion. Maybe after showing it at SEMA, the group will ride that wave of attention and churn out some actual production versions of the 500 Abarth Scorpion. It might be wishful thinking at this point, but don’t put it past Fiat->ke30 if it means more love coming the 500 Abarth’s way.

Fiat 500 Abarth Scorpion in detail

The two-tone red-and-white paint finish of the 500 Abarth Scorpion creates a contrasting image with the upper portion of the hatchback getting the red paint and lower half receiving white. Some combinations work on other models, but this particular color detail works for the 500 Abarth Scorpion. I already pointed out the styling appeal of that massive Abarth Scorpion logo, but it’s far from the only detail of the exterior.

Mopar also gave the model new carbon mirror caps and accent-color fog lamps.

At the back, the exhaust tips now feature a satin black rear valance while the taillights received a smoky tint. The Fiat badges also got some attention, getting finished in satin and heavily accented by chrome trim.

Not surprisingly, Mopar also added a new set of forged lightweight Abarth wheels, creating a more stimulating look for the 500 Abarth Scorpion.

There are still no shots of the car’s interior, but we have been told that the cabin of the 500 Abarth Scorpion received the same two-tone, red-and-white color split. Even the Abarth Scorpion logo makes a prominent appearance on the passenger side of the cabin. Katzkin leather was heavily used, accented with contrasting stitching and trim.

Here’s the good news: the interior options for the 500 Abarth Scorpion will actually be made available through the Mopar Custom Shop. The automaker hasn’t announced when these options will become ready for public consumption, but an announcement could be made at the 2014 SEMA Auto Show. Hopefully, the exterior upgrades become available, too.

Engine upgrades aren't available so expect the Fiat 500 Abarth Scorpion to retain its 1.4-liter MultiAir turbocharged engine that packs an incredible 160 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. That kind of power allows the sports hatch to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds to go with a top speed of 129 mph.
