Although Ford doesn’t currently sell the curvy SUV Kuga in the U.S., its rumored that the car may be part of the European Ford invasion over the next few years. So we thought it would be cool to take a look at how some performance modifications from the German tuner Wolf can add some speed to the fast looks. The new package includes an ECU tweaking from 136 hp to 158 hp, at a mere price of 795 euros or $ 1,170. After its launch the new Ford Kuga finally arrived to the Cobra workshops in order to be dressed up with the stainless-steel components which characterizes the Dutch tuner. The new programme includes a front bull-bar, rocker panels and rear guard on the left and right side adding a plus of sportivity to the vehicle. Of course, all the accesories meet the strict EU requirements for pedestrian protection.
In the latest phase of Euro NCAP safety tests the all-new Ford Kuga compact crossover has achieved the best combination of star ratings, placing the car at the top of the table in the Euro NCAP Small Off-road 4x4 group. Awarded the maximum five stars for Adult Occupant Protection, this rating is enhanced by four stars for Child Occupant Protection and three stars for Pedestrian Protection.
"The Ford Kuga joins a portfolio of cars that is recognised for high safety standards and performance," said Joe Bakaj, Vice President, Global Product Programs, Ford Motor Company and Vice President, Product Development, Ford of Europe. "The tests performed by Euro NCAP are further validation of our own rigorous testing procedures and internal results and convey a compelling message to Kuga customers from a highly respected and impartial organisation."
With the new customization programme for the recently launched Ford Kuga, Delta4x4 wants to put its well-known amprent also on the kinetic design of the American vehicle.
First of all, the tuning company increased the ground level with 55 cm and added new alloy wheels with diameter ranging from 18 to 22 inch. The 2.0 liter engine, thanks to the new ECU tweaking, develops now 162 hp and 380 Nm of torque. Everything is offered at a price of €34,990 including the price of the manufacturer’s model.
Ford of Europe today begin the production of the 2009 Kuga at the Ford plant in Saarlouis, Germany. The company plans to build around 45,000 examples of the new model in Saarlouis this year – equivalent to nearly 10 per cent of the plant’s annual production volume.
The Kuga is the fourth model to be launched at Saarlouis in the past 12 months. It follows the new Ford C-MAX in March 2007, the new Ford Focus in December 2007 and the new Ford Focus ST earlier this month.
The Kuga will be made available with a 2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi 136 PS 100kW engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Applicable to both FWD and intelligent AWD derivatives the torque, performance and pulling power under all engine and vehicle load conditions have been perfectly calibrated to the new Ford Kuga. This engine provides high levels of torque – 320 Nm at 2,000rpm and 340 Nm in transient overboost. FWD and intelligent AWD variants return favourable fuel economy figures of 6.3 and 6.4 litres of fuel per 100 km respectively, using the combined fuel consumption figures. The intelligent AWD figure of 169 g/km of CO 2 is class-leading.
Ford UK today announced pricing for the all-new Kuga crossover that will go on sale starting June. Kuga will be available in two different versions: Zetec priced at £20,495 and Titanium priced at £22,495.
Powered by the 2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi 136PS diesel engine with standard particulate filter and six-speed manual transmission, Kuga comes with full-time Haldex intelligent AWD system. The engine provides 320Nm of torque at 2,000rpm and 340Nm in transient overboost. With combined fuel consumption of 44.1mpg it also achieves class-leading levels of CO2 – 169 g/km.
Standard features include - keyless start, 17-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Ford Easy fuel, Thatcham category 1 alarm and MP3 connector.
Ford’s medium cars’ brand manager Damian Oton has announced in an interview with Business Car that the new Kuga 4x4 crossover will be offered with only one diesel engine mated with a six-speed manual transmission starting May 2008.

Ford has released the first details of its new Kuga crossover at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, where the car will be previewed ahead of production early in 2008. The Kuga will be previewed alongside the new Ford Verve Concept small car and other exciting new products yet to be revealed on the show’s first press day, September 11th.

According to Carscoop, the production version of the Iosis X concept revealed at the Paris motor show last autumn will be unveiled this autumn this time in Frankfurt. The model will be called Kuga and is a mid-sized crossover.
