Ford revealed today the official details on the Ken Block’s Monster Ford Fiesta that will campaign seven rally events in North America in 2010 for Ford, including the Summer X Games in August. The Monster Ford Fiesta is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that is capable to deliver a total of 490 hp at 8,000 rpm, but due to a required turbo-inlet restrictor by the series, the Fiesta will be running in the range of 330 hp. "I am very excited to finally be in the Fiesta," said Block. "The Fiesta is the car that beat me last summer at X Games. Ford has a great platform with the Fiesta, and I can’t wait to see what I can do in the Rally America championship and at the X Games later this year." Video and press release after the jump. Press release The all-new Ford Fiesta is fun to drive, but for Monster World Rally Team driver Ken Block, fun takes on a different meaning. Block and the Monster World Rally Team will campaign seven rally events in North America in 2010 for Ford, including the Summer X Games in August. Block will pilot a 2011 Ford Fiesta based on the race-winning European Rallycross Fiesta prepared by Olsbergs Motorsports Evolution. “Ford has a long, winning tradition in European rally and with Ken Block and Fiesta, we’re bringing that to North America for fans to experience first hand,” said Jamie Alison, director, Ford North American Motorsports. “There will be a little bit of rally in every Fiesta. It’s the right form of motorsports to showcase the driving dynamics of Fiesta.” Allison continued, "What people need to remember, as Ken races down the course this weekend, his car started off as a production vehicle. It is a true testament to the capability built into every Ford Fiesta.” 21 comments: Ford Fiesta Monster World Rally With Ken Block fascination about this vehicle no wonder its sporty image increases! The engine performance of the car is quiet impressive and I bet Ken Block would love to hit his ride in the nearest ramp!
Ken Block has been drving the car for a while now.. and I would say that its quite an impressive model though I don’t think that it will look so sporty without the stickers on the body of the car.
The performance of the car is quite an impressive model. And I would say that it performs like monster in the road. Btw, its a good thing that this vehicle offers more high technology engine.
I think most of the rally event require a single car to register for a season and not as team. And once they encounter a crash i think they wouldn’t waste their time to wait until the driver be back on his own reflexes ( sad truth).
WTF? No action shots? I was at least expecting a doughnut on some fluorescent lights, or something equally silly/cool.
don’t think so. the 3 and the 5-doors have the same wheelbase. But maybe it’s practical, when the driver-pair has an break down and the tools for repairing are easier to get out of the "fond". Other then it’s senseless. a 3-door may lighter.
I always get a chuckle when people think a custom built race car that cost well over six figures to build will be anything like one you can get at your local car dealer.
