The blue oval has just unveiled the extremely efficient new for 2010 Ford Focus ECOnetic at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany without the use of any electric motors. The new more environmentally friendly Focus incorporates the American automaker’s new Ford Auto-Start-Stop system that eliminates wasteful emissions by brining the car’s engine to a halt when the Focus is at rest, this mild hybrid system was first previewed on the Ford iosis MAX Concept from the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. The 2010 Focus ECOnetic is powered by a 1.6 Liter Duratorq TDCi engine that makes a maximum output of only 109 HP because when you are looking for efficiency, power isn’t quite a priority when you are getting 74 MPG. The Duratorq four cylinder engine makes use of a standard coated Diesel Particulate Filter that reduces the vehicle’s harmful emissions to a road legal level. The Focus ECOnetic is also the first vehicle from the automaker to feature Ford’s new Eco Mode system standard, a software application that is integrated into the instrument cluster in order to give the Focus’s driver a more useful and realistic green driving experience. According to Dr. Thilo Seibert, Manager of CO2 Technologies for Ford of Europe, "From the very beginning of Ford’s ECOnetic approach it has been our clear intention to offer customers affordable eco-technology, and to also pave the way for the possible integration of these technologies into the core vehicle programs,...with its new comprehensive set-up, the new Focus ECOnetic offers exactly what it takes: versatility, latest level technology and – regardless of version – excellent CO2 and fuel economy figures." Press release after the jump. Press release At the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show Ford of Europe is revealing the next step in its acclaimed low CO2 Ford ECOnetic strategy, the super-efficient new 2010 Focus ECOnetic. Efficient technologyThe new Focus ECOnetic five-door is available with a new optional Ford Auto-Start-Stop system that was previewed on the Ford iosis MAX Concept at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. Regardless of whether Auto-Start-Stop is specified, the Focus ECOnetic has Smart Regenerative Charging and Low Tension FEAD (Front End Accessory Drive) - technologies that are new to the Ford of Europe product line-up, and which combine to deliver lower emissions and better fuel efficiency and pave the way for future powertrains from the blue oval. "To achieve these impressive figures, we combined the proven approach of the original Focus ECOnetic model with even more detail improvements and all-new technologies," said Dr. Thilo Seibert, Manager CO2 Technologies for Ford of Europe. "The new Focus ECOnetic is particularly significant as it paves the way for some of these technologies to be implemented into our core vehicle series in the near future." The new Focus ECOnetic five-door is the first European Ford to offer a new Ford The system can reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to five per cent in mixed driving conditions. In an urban environment and in heavy traffic with frequent stops the savings could increase to as much as 10 per cent. The new Focus ECOnetic also uses advanced technologies to ensure that the battery is kept charged in the most efficient way. A newly designed alternator bracket and new belt pulley design enable the tension of the front end accessory drive belt to be lowered without causing issues that are normally related to drive belt slackness such as increased wear of the belt itself or the alternator bearings, as well as raised noise levels. This system monitors major parameters relevant for optimal fuel consumption that can actively be influenced by altering driving behaviour. These parameters include gear shifting, anticipation (driving as consistently and smoothly as possible) and motorway driving (driving with the most efficient speed on motorways and country roads). In addition the system considers the percentage of cold-engine short trips. The Ford ECOnetic experienceThe new technologies added to the second generation Ford Focus ECOnetic complement and add to the original model’s fuel-saving features. The versatile alternative: New 104g/km Focus ECOneticIn order to offer even greater versatility to cost-conscious ECOnetic customers in many markets, Ford is also launching additional five-door and estate versions of the new Focus ECOnetic without the integrated Ford Auto-Start-Stop system. 19 comments: Ford Focus ECOnetic The newer production of the Ford Focus is seems powerful. I really hate the sedan version for it makes the car to look so odd.
The gasoline version of the car is quite an impressive production! The Ford had enhanced the styling of the car.. I wonder if they are offering an electric version sooner.
Well, I guess for this version the technology used was kind of outdated. However, modern vehicle like the Audi is using a more advanced features to make the electric car more reliable.
Well, just the same from what I have said before, I don’t belive in the whole concept of electric cars no matter how advanced the technology being used. For some instance they been needing to used the power of diesel.
Hybrid cars are quite expensive! And i think if you are planning to buy a car at that price, better choose a car that has a good look at the same time. But of course I’m not referring to Econetic!
This a dream come true! for the sporty people who loves racing competition, why? they have all the main quality and the high standard engine that provides their needs into a more and challenging car race.
well, this new 2010 Ford Focus Econetic is a good standard quality that emphasize its image,.and i think this is the main fact that will surely brings our economic growth..
The new 2010 Ford Focus is one of the smart choice driven by users because it has the ability to attract the customers expectations..
A new improvement that was implemented to a new Ford 2010.,,such a great idea..having in a electric fuel battery charge to be converted into a electric power device.,
