2012 Ford Tourneo Custom Concept

  Review

The Geneva Motor Show isn’t all about fancy exotics and out-of-this-world concepts. Every so often, there are also automakers that look on the practical side of life and present vehicles that cater to a more conservative clientele.

That’s why nobody should be surprised to see Ford debut the Tourneo Custom Concept. For the record, this van, or at least the production iteration of it, won’t be headed Stateside. We have the Ford Transit for that job. But even if were not getting a sniff of the Tourneo, our friends over in Europe and Asia surely will.

To that, they get a pretty cool van that offers some serious specs, including an eight-seat configuration that offers plenty of room and space. It also has a driver-centric cockpit, improved "car-like" aerodynamics (which is a pretty big deal when you’re dealing with vans), Ford’s SYNC system, a rear-view camera integrated into the mirror, and a 2.2-liter Duratorq turbo diesel engine that produces a stout 153 horsepower.

Having said all that, the concept version of the Tourneo will be on full display at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, something that should be a welcome respite for the concept car-infused auto show.

Ford is really trying to scoop on its competitors. With their strife on doing their very best, they came up with this Tourneo Custom Concept.

It might not belong to the show, but it doesn’t matter. The significance of its appearance is to flaunt its different appeal which I find effective.

Well, this was different. I have never heard of it in the show; thus, my conclusion that it has been ignored actually.

I agree, except this would be truly out of place there. How brave of Ford to present this concept. Maybe on some other auto show, it’ll do better.

Yeah, it isn’t all about fancy exotics but would it not be ignored there? Despite its good aerodynamic feature, the appearance isn’t much striking and its power isn’t really impressive. I hope it doesn’t get neglected at the show.

This is very competent, especially that this Tourneo is on its way to Geneva Motor Show. I thought the motor show was a show for only hot, exotic and luxurious cars, but I was wrong. It was also an event for those cars which provide more economic, efficient and practical in the society.

Is this Tourneo is inspired by the Toyota Alphard? Since Toyota achieved a successful year in 2011, other car companies started on creating concepts that would definitely catch the attention of global markets.

The concept of this van is simple but classy which makes it stand out among all other futuristic and exotic cars. If you think this is like all the other typical vans, well sorry to both disappoint and astound you as one of its features is it being aerodynamic.
