Exterior

For the exterior, the 2013 Mustang V6 has received a significantly more prominent grille with a more powerful splitter and standard high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps. The rocker panels running along the car have now been painted to match the body color and the vehicle's rear end has received a high-gloss black panel that connects the taillamps. Rounding off the look are standard 17-inch wheels that can be painted or left as machined-aluminum. Ford is also offering an 18-inch polished aluminum set, an updated 18-inch painted aluminum, and a 19-inch painted wheel design as an option with the V6 Performance Package.

Interior

For the interior, the Mustang has received optional leather-trimmed or cloth Recaro seats - currently only offered for the GT500 or 302 Boss. The seats are offered with integrated head restraints with ample room for drivers and passengers wearing helmets when at the track.

Drivers will also enjoy a new 4.2-inch LCD integrated in the main instrument cluster that offers a special option called Track Apps. This app will offer details on the g forces, acceleration times in quarter-mile and 0-60 increments, and braking times.

Engine

The 2013 Ford Mustang is offered with the same 3.7-liter V6 engine developing 305 HP. The engine will be offered with an optional six-speed SelectShift Automatic transmission which allows the driver manual control of the gears.

All the models equipped with manual gearboxes will be offered with hill start assist - a system that helps keep the car from rolling backward, making it easier to pull away when on a slope or hill.

Prices

The new 2013 Mustang will go on sale in the spring of 2012. Prices will be announced at a later date.

Competition

There's no doubt that the main competition for the 2013 Ford Mustang is and will always be the Chevrolet Camaro. Over the past few years, we have heard a lot about who was the best sold model, who made a better impression on the customers, who had more power, and so on. Now it seems that the war will continue on as scheduled. Right now, the Mustang has the advantage of delivering an extra 5 HP over the Camaro which uses a 3.6-liter direct-injected V6 engine delivering 300 HP and 273 lb/ft of torque. This engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission with a Hydra-Matic 6L50 electronically controlled six-speed automatic.
