The Ford Fiesta->ke1170 is already a very fashionable hatchback->ke304. It's up to date, it comes with plenty of options, and its compact body has received a host of cool liveries at various auto shows. However, that didn't stop the Blue Oval->ke31 manufacturer from enhancing the car's trendy appeal by launching a couple of special-edition models.

This time though, Ford is looking into a popular photography trend called "color popping". It's a technique in which pictures are converted to black and white with only a small portion left to appear in color. Don't worry though, Ford is not trying to sell you a white Fiesta with yellow mirror covers. These special-edition hatchbacks are finished in contrasting red and black combos and offered in two distinct color schemes.

As it stands, Ford is gunning for customers "with a passion for style and an eye for quality and detail." Is it just me, or the Fiesta Black and Red Editions are the Mini Coopers->ke629 of the Ford lineup?

Ford Fiesta Black And Red Editions in detail

Both vehicles are finished in Race Red, a color borrowed from the 2015 Ford Mustang, and Panther Black, a glossy, pitch-black shade available on the Focus->ke440. Making these three-door Fiesta even more special are the sporty body kits adorning each example. The package includes sports bumpers, extended wheel arches, new side skirts and a rear spoiler. Just add a powerful engine and these Fiestas are ready for some gymkhana action.

The Fiesta Red Edition is obviously the one wearing the mostly Race Red suit, while its roof and mirrors are dressed in Panther Black. The striking combo continues up front where the grille surrounds and the small spoiler lip are finished in the same Panther Black hue. On the sides, the bright-red exterior is enhanced by a set of black alloy wheels featuring an eight-spoke design. The 16-inch rollers are standard, while the 17-inch shoes can be had as an option.

Moving over to the Fiesta Black Edition, Ford is playing the color switcheroo. The hatch now wears a more elegant Panther Black tuxedo, while the flashy Race Red paint oozes onto the roof and mirrors. The Black Edition is by far the more convincing hatch of the pair, as the red-coated front grille surrounds and spoiler lip provide a much stronger contrast. The wheels, however, remain black, and we can't thank Ford enough for that. Paint those wheels red and the whole effect is ruined.

The contrast theme is carried through the cabin as well, but this is where the two version no longer complement each other. The color scheme, identical no matter the exterior combo, includes gloss-black center stack and door handles, and black leather sports steering wheel and gear lever adorned by red stitching. The sports seats are trimmed in Charcoal Black fabric, while the floor is hidden underneath black mats. Naturally, both the seats and the mats come with red contrast stitching.

There is no word on pricing and availability, but Ford says both models are set to go on sale later this year. Unfortunately, since the package is only offered on the three-door Fiesta and don't expect to see these special-edition hatches showcase their fancy looks in the United States.
