We already know most of the details surrounding the 2015 Mustang, but what Ford has given us so far is just the tip of the iceberg. There's at least one high-performance version underway and a bunch of special-edition models are sure to follow. While the beefed-up Mustang SVT is still testing on the 'Ring with swirly camouflage covering its muscular body, Ford's next special-edition 'Stang is already out in the open, thanks to our friends over at Mustangs Daily.

The said muscle car is actually a one-off model built for EAA AirVenture and joins previous bespoke projects that have paid tribute to either iconic U.S. airplanes or air demonstration squadrons such as the U.S.A.F. Thunderbirds. The latest custom Mustang->ke428 to arrive in the EAA AirVenture collection before being auctioned off for charity is inspired by the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II, a multi-role fighter plane with stealth capability introduced in 2006.

Like most aviation-themed Mustangs, the custom muscle car->ke507 will go under the hammer at the Gathering of Eagles charity event at EAA AirVenture. All proceeds will be donated to the EAA Young Eagles program, a non-profit organization providing free flights to aviation enthusiasts since 1992.

The unique Mustang bears a strong resemblance to the airplane it pays tribute to by means of a striking paint scheme. Most of the vehicle is finished in a glossy, titanium-like grey hue, while the rear end carries the blue and yellow shades adorning the airplane's vertical fins. A matte-grey stripe with yellow accents runs across the hood and roof, while the glass area features a yellow tint.

The paint is not the only thing that sets this pony apart from other Mustangs. A modified bumper and a huge, carbon-fiber splitter change the car's appearance up front, while the rear benefits from a carbon-fiber diffuser and a bespoke spoiler. A quick peek inside reveals Ford is throwing in a set of Recaro sports seats, but expect more goodies to find their way into the cockpit.

There's no word as to what engine lies under the hood, but we expect to see a 5.0-liter Coyote V-8 send its "more than" 420 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels. That's insignificant compared to the enormous thrust pushing the Lockheed's Pratt & Whitney F135 turbofan, but it's good enough for those of us who would rather stick to ground transportation.

Set to go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2014, the 2015 Ford Mustang will greet its customers with independent rear suspension (a first for the muscle car), a revised front suspension, and an array of new technology and features. Unlike its predecessors, the sixth-generation pony will go global, looking to attract more buyers by means of a new, fuel-efficient, 2.3-liter, EcoBoost engine. Besides the four-banger, the 2015 Mustang will also be available with a 5.0-liter V-8 and a 3.7-liter V-6, although the latter will remain an entry-level choice in the United States only. Pricing for the 2015 Mustang in the U.S. begins at $24,425.
