Ford revealed at the Geneva Motor Show the iosis MAX concept a concept study for the next generation of Ford’s compact multi-activity vehicle (MAV) as well as a glimpse for the company’s next generation global C-car family.
The iosisMAX concept features striking exterior and interior designs based on a fresh interpretation of Ford’s kinetic design form language, new door opening concepts, lightweight materials, advanced aerodynamics, and a preview of the European development of Ford’s global EcoBoost petrol engine technology coming in 2010.
The iosisMAX is powered by a 1.6-litre 180 PS 4-cylinder petrol engine from Ford’s new EcoBoost engine family. Ford EcoBoost engines feature turbocharging and direct injection technology to deliver fuel economy up to 20% better than conventional petrol engines with a similar power output. The 1.6-litre EcoBoost unit in the iosis MAX is further optimized through the use of a new Ford Auto-Start-Stop system, intelligent alternator and six-speed Ford PowerShift double-clutch automated manual gearbox with ratios tailored to deliver maximum fuel efficiency. Simulations predict that the concept vehicle could achieve CO2 emissions of 125 g/km.

A couple weeks ago we got a sneak peek at the special edition Lamborghini Murcielago LP 650-4 Roadster. Now we’ve got a few more pics and confirmation that we’ll see it this week at the Geneva Motor Show.
What makes the LP 650-4 so special is the engine: the 650 hp 6.5-liter V12 unit last seen in the Reventon - that’s 19 more hp than the Murcielago LP640-4 Roadster. It should be good for 0 to 60 mph sprints in 3.4 seconds.
Just like the Reventon, the Murcielago LP 650-4 will be a very limited model with only 50 units scheduled for production, with an estimated price of $400,000.
Full specifications and more pics after the jump.

The Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce will be last version of Murcielago built (the replacement is on the way), but it’s also going to be the most powerful Murcielago ever. With 670 hp and a weight reduction of 220 lbs, the LP 670-4 SV makes the 0 to 60 mph sprint in 3.2 seconds and can hit a top speed of 212 mph.
Compared to the LP640, the LP 670-4 SV comes with a new front-end finished in matte black paint, the front spoiler is made from carbon fiber and is connected to the front end via two vertical element, the air intakes are larger. On the rear the supercar gets a veritably noble, flat and extremely wide exhaust tailpipe and, on the underside, by a two-level diffuser system finished entirely in carbon fiber.
The aerodynamics has also been modified: enlarged front spoiler and the twin rear diffuser and also new fixed rear spoiler. A large, fixed, carbon-fiber wing mounted on two carbon-fiber brackets comes as an option.

Last Friday Ferrari reported the launch of the 599XX at the Geneva Motor Show. Today here it is live fro the show.
Like the the Enzo-based FXX, this will be an ultra-rare testbed for racing technology. Ferrari didn’t confirm if the car would road-legal, but if it follows in the FXX tradition, the 599XX will only be Ferrari’s racetrack customers.

Just one day before its official debut Dacia revealed the Duster concept - a totally new model in Dacia-s line-up. With the aspect of a sporting coupe and the utility of an MPV, Duster will become the first crossover in Dacia’s line-up.
Duster’s height of 1.49 metres, short front and rear overhangs (65cm and 80cm respectively), generous wheelbase (2.80m) and compact volumes (4.25m long, 1.64m wide) exude an overriding sense of robustness and sports appeal.
The concept features a broad bumper with two horizontal air-intake slits at the front; the grille is flanked by headlamps which wrap over the front wings to form a tapering line of light that stretches rearward towards the doors. The sporty look is accentuated by 21-inch, five-spoke aluminium alloy wheels, exterior mirrors positioned on the window surround and trapezoidal aluminium exhaust tailpipes.
Under the hood Dacia placed a 1.5 dCi 105hp engine that emits just 139g of CO2/km, equivalent to fuel consumption of 5.3 litres/100km.

We’ve been getting excited about the Pagani Zonda R coming to Geneva, but as it turns out the track-only car will have to share Pagani’s stage. The Zonda Cinque will also peek its head at the motor show this week.
The Zonda Cinque is basically a Zonda R with the production numbers halved (five total expected) and is road legal. Just like the Zonda R, the Zonda Cinque will share little parts with the similar-looking Zonda F. Some of the main elements that distinguish the Cinque from the F will be the improved aerodynamics in front and the intake scoop on the roof.
More power is also expected for this latest road-going Zonda. 678 hp from a V12 engine was first reported back in June, but since the Zonda R makes 750 hp, we may be able to expect more from the Cinque. We’ll get all our answers later this week in Geneva.
Earlier this month we reported that Ferrari will bring the 599 HGTE to the Geneva Motor Show next week. But like many of the manufacturers, Ferrari couldn’t keep it under wraps. Oddly enough the press release didn’t confirm the details of the car, but we expect 20-inch three-piece wheels, upgraded suspension, retuned exhaust system, grille reminiscent of the 430 Scuderia, and a interior full of carbon fiber bits. The only thing Ferrari confirmed was the color: three-layered metallic Rosso (red).
Instead Ferrari used its press release to announce a car called the 599XX. Like the the Enzo-based FXX, this will be an ultra-rare testbed for racing technology. Ferrari didn’t confirm if the car would road-legal, but if it follows in the FXX tradition, the 599XX will only be Ferrari’s racetrack customers. There was no mention of the price, but in the world of rare race-only Ferraris if you have to ask, you can’t afford it.

We first saw the I.DE.A. Institute’s ERA concept last May. Back then it was slapped together in 30 days, and the roadster looked like it was almost a distorted Panoz Esperante. Now I.DE.A. is back with a more refined car for the Geneva Motor Show.
Besides the looks, the car is distinguished by gullwing door and a spartan interior that lresembles a simplified Maserati Birdcage. If fact, the ERA’s exterior design seems to borrow pieces from the 60s Italian racer, including the ducktail rear end.
The ERA was developed to mark the company’s 30th anniversary. Now that I.DE.A. has had some time to refine the car, its starting to look like a worthy celebration piece. No word yet on the engine (or if there even is one) because this is mainly a styling exercise.

Infiniti unveiled today at the Geneva Motor Show the second-generation FX performance luxury crossover. The 2009 FX will be offered in three models, including a new 5.0-liter V8-equipped Infiniti FX50. The 2009 FX is scheduled to go on sale at Infiniti dealers in the United States and Canada in June 2008.
The Infiniti FX50 features a new powerplant, which makes it debut on this model – an advanced 5.0-liter V8 that is mounted low in the chassis to help lower the FX50’s center of gravity. The engine design includes twin symmetrical air intakes, microfinished crankshaft, lightweight pistons, super-silent cam drive chains and an electrically driven cooling fan to help optimize performance.
The goals for the development of the FX50’s all-new VK50VE V8 started with outstanding power output – 390 horsepower (287kw) and 500 Nm of torque – a high rev limit, a powerful engine sound from a specially tuned exhaust and improved fuel economy versus the previous generation FX45.

Lotus has developed an alcohol-fueled single-cylinder engine its going to bring to the Geneva Motor Show. While this may be taking the idea of "adding lightness a little too far, it would be pretty cool to have my lawnmower have an "Engineered by Lotus" sticker on it.
