Drivetrain

The GTS version is powered by a 6.2-liter Supercharged LSA V-8 engine that delivers a total of 430 kW (576 horsepower) and 740 Nm (545 pound-feet) of torque. To help keep this powerful engine cool, HSV installed a stacked-plate oil cooler and applied 130,000 square-mm of frontal air-intake area. Keeping the supercharger’s pressurized air cool it a water-to-air intercooler.

The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with Active Select and a specially developed set of tail shafts were installed to help deal with the engine’s massive torque.

Finally, launch control helps you rocket the GTS to 60 mph or down a 1/4-mile track as quickly as possible.

Suspension and Brakes

In addition to the new Gen-F GTS’ standard 20-inch "Blade" forged-alloy wheels wrapped in Continental tires, HSV also installed its new Generation 3 MRC suspension system developed in conjunction with Bosch. This system features three independent settings for optimal handling in various conditions and dual-coil pistons for fast response times. Electric power steering with two modes and a standard Competition Mode ESC help the GTS navigate the twist more effectively.

Additionally, a Torque Vectoring system combines with the electronic stability control to help correct understeer by shifting torque to the outside wheel during hard cornering.

Helping bring the sedan to a halt are AP cross-drilled, two-piece discs on all four wheels. Putting the squeeze to the front discs are forged six-piston front calipers.

Prices for the new HSV Gen-F GTS will be announced at a later date.

Competition

FPV Falcon GT

Holden is not the only automaker with a special Performance division on the Australian market. Ford is also having the Ford Performance Vehicles which is developing the Falcon GT.

It’s true this is not as powerful as the GTS, but still, when it comes to looks and driving dynamics, the GT has a few advantages.

Falcon GT is powered by a 5.0-liter V-8 engine that delivers a total of 450 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque.

Vauxhall VXR8

While not offered on the Australian market, the VXR8 is the European alternative for those who cannot order the GTS. It is powered by a 6.2-liter LS3 unit that delivers a total of 431 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque. This is just enough to sprint the VXR8 from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and to hit a limited top speed of 155 mph.

Conclusion

The GTS is the most powerful version offered by HSV and with all the updates offered by the new Gen-F version it announces to be quite a challenge for the competition.
