2012 Honda Civic SI Tjin Edition
 
It seems that this year’s SEMA Auto Show has kept Tjin Edition pretty busy the past couple of months. Next to a special Ford Mustang GT 5.0 and a Ford Explorer, the tuner has also displayed in Las Vegas a Honda Civic SI developed in cooperation with Honda North America. According to the tuner, this particular Civic SI was developed with form, function and family in mind. The first thing you will notice about the car is a special Wraptivo wrap done by the guys at Daley Visual. Apparently, this wrap was the last roll in existence making the Civic SI even more impressive. Next to it there will also be a set of 19″ Rotiform Concave BLQ wheels. The Civic’s center of gravity is brought down via Function and Form fully adjustable coilovers, and tucked away behind the concave wheels are a set of Baer brakes. After its debut in SEMA, the car will tour the country via the 2012 Tjin Edition RoadShow. Now that the clock has finally run out and just hours away from the first showing of Fast Five - the fifth installment of the Fast and Furious franchise - we felt like it’s the right time to give proper respect to the characters that have made this movie franchise as fun as it has been since the first movie came out in 2001. And if you think that we’re talking about resident leading men, Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, guess again. This list has very little to do with them, or their other co-stars for that matter, but more so about what they were driving during the first four movies. Yes, dear friends. Of all the Civic models Honda introduced at the New York Auto Show, the most powerful of them is the Civic SI. Coming in both sedan and coupe form, the Civic SI represents the next-generation of high-powered Civics that prioritize the performance potential of the Civic platform. The most telling improvement of the next-generation Civic SI lies in the powertrain where it improves from the past model’s 2.0-liter engine to a more powerful 2.4-liter engine with 201 horsepower and 170 lb/ft of torque. This year’s numbers are up by 4 horsepower and 31 lb/ft of torque compared to the 2011 model. The Civic SI represents the sporty side of the Civic series, one that puts a premium on performance over anything else and it’s evidenced by the impressive improvement in torque numbers compared to the previous year’s model. "The broadened torque band of the 2012 model increases its appeal as a daily driver while adding a new dimension of mid-range performance," said John Mendel, the company’s executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. Throughout the past several weeks the economy of the United States and other large importers of oil have struggled to maintain positive amidst the turmoil in the middle-east. Civil unrest and pressure have led to a decrease in oil production and increase in the price for a single barrel. We have seen prices reach the $100 mark and beyond, and there are no signs of a ceiling. These two year highs for the price of crude oil have led to OPEC releasing more supplies from our reserves, but it has not quelled the price hike. California is currently suffering from the highest prices nationwide and they have reached within a cent of $4.00 per gallon for regular unleaded. This has put added strain on a struggling economic environment for many people and, if this continues, it will drag our economy further down. With cars like the Toyota Prius and other hybrids hitting the market every week, it is good to see that the manufacturers are realizing that gasoline will not be the answer to our future problems. The major auto shows and car introductions across the world, including the biggest in the United States, Detroit, are where auto manufacturers try to sell the public hot-air. Most of the amazing and futuristic concept cars are so far on the other side of being a production possibility they might as well be alien. The recent economic climate across the world has shifted the car companies in a new direction and the consumer continues to pull them even further. People are eager for cars that are economical and exciting – most people enjoy driving, just not having to pay $4.00 per gallon to do it. Full story . 2011 Honda Civic Ti Limited Edition
The British market is once again receiving a pretty cool car: a limited edition Honda Civic TI. There will only be 500 units built, with sales beginning in March 2011 at a price of £15,995 for the 1.4 i-VTEC and £16,995 for the 1.8 variant. The new Civic TI is inspired by this season’s Honda Racing British Touring Car challenger and comes painted in Premium White Pearl contrasting with matte black wheels and ‘GP’ body kit finished in Crystal Black. The body kit includes: front spoiler, rear spoiler (finished in white), side skirt inserts and rear body skirts. For the interior, the new Ti model is offering Pioneer Navigation Multimedia System, which offers full-scale sat nav, entertainment and communication with a 3D graphic touch screen. The navigation system includes a map database covering 44 countries, multiple sensors to ensure more accurate positioning, a traffic message channel receiver to avoid traffic jams and a hands free telephone system. The Honda Civic has been around for what seems like ages, from the first generation in 1973 to the eighth generation which began in 2006, and now Honda’s little star sedan is entering its ninth generation with a couple more variants for the 2012MY. We first saw this new generation Civic in concept form at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show, and now the 2012 Honda Civic is getting an "HF" high fuel economy and a hybrid version for its lineup that will allow the Civic to become one of the most efficient models on the market, with an economy estimated at 40 mpg. The full lineup will includes these two new models, plus the sedan and coupe versions with conventional gasoline engines, two sporty "Si" performance versions, and a natural gas alternative-fuel variant. "The Civic is the only model in the industry that can deliver on all fronts – fuel economy, sporty performance, smart packaging, alternative fuel and long-term value," said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda Motor Co.,Inc. In addition to the Honda Civic SI Concept, Honda also brought the new Civic Concept Sedan to the Detroit Auto Show. Together with the SI Concept, the two new Civic models give us a good idea on what the latest generation of Honda’s legendary Civic line is going to look like. As for the Civic Concept Sedan, Honda designed the car using clean and powerful lines and overall pronounced character lines in the front while having lower character lines towards the rear fender, enhancing the car’s dynamic outlook of vibrancy and forward energy. Similar to the Si Concept, the Civic Concept Sedan also features a front fender surface treatment that forms a complex, three-dimensional look, further enhancing the sedan’s depth and sophistication. Moreover, the Civic Concept Sedan features a completely new front grille that’s defined by crisp lines and a solid bar that integrates a chrome Honda emblem to go along with a set of 19” machined alloy wheels. Apart from the Sedan and Si models, the ninth generation Honda Civic line-up will include a sedan, a coupe with conventional gasoline models, and two sporty "Si" performance versions, along with one hybrid and a natural gas alternative-fuel variant. Gracing the showroom floors of the 2011 Detroit Auto Show is the new Honda Civic Si, a concept that offers us a first glimpse of the ninth generation Civic Si going on sale later this spring. The Si concept is defined by clean-yet-powerful lines with a steeply raked windshield, wide stance, and pronounced character lines along the profile. The new Civic Si Concept features a more angular front fascia, mesh grille, and a tapered rear roofline that flows smoothly into the trunk. Its aggressive look is completed by a rear air diffuser, a center-mounted exhaust outlet, and a rear deck lid spoiler with dual vents. The concept sits on 19" machined alloy wheels with an impressive red exterior paint making it look better than ever. The first Honda Civic was revealed in 1973, and after 37 years of history the company is offering a wide range with technologically advanced Civic Sedan and Coupe models, a Civic Hybrid, a high-performance Civic Si and a Civic GX model that runs exclusively on natural gas. Customers will have the possibility to choose from three engines. Base version will be powered by a 1.8-liter i-VTEC engine that delivers 140 HP, while the SI version gets a 2.0-liter i-VTEC engine that delivers 197 HP. There is also a Hybrid version powered by a 1.3-liter i-VTEC engine with Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) gasoline-electric hybrid technology. The SI version is distinguished by sport-tuned suspension, damper and stabilizer bar tuning, exclusive 17-inch alloy wheels and high-performance tires. Exclusive exterior features include a rear wing spoiler (low profile on the sedan) and Si emblems. The sports-oriented interior adds firmly-bolstered and performance oriented sport-trimmed black cloth seats with synthetic suede bolsters and red stitching. 2011 Honda Civic Concept
Honda has announced that the company will unveil a new Civic Concept in January 2011 at the Detroit Auto Show, less than a month away. The first sketch reveals a sleek and aerodynamic profile of the show vehicle. According to the company this is in fact a preview version of the ninth-generation 2012 Civic that will go on sale in the spring 2011. Honda didn’t offer any details on the concept, but the first sketch reveals an exterior design strongly inspired by the CR-Z hybrid sports car. We imagine that the concept will feature the usual petrol and diesel engines offered in the previous models, but a hybrid powertrain is also a possibility. Rumors suggest that the concept might also carry a dual clutch transmission.
