  Launched in 2006, the Civic comes with a 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol engine. You also get a Hybrid version with a 1.3 i-VTEC engine and an Integrated Motor Assist. The Civic comes with both a manual and automatic gearbox but there is no diesel engine option. Its competitors are the Toyota Corolla Altis, Renault Fluence and the Chevrolet Cruze.

The 2012 Honda Civic has been caught testing undisguised somewhere in Dubai. While we have no details on the future model, you can easily notice that the 2012 Civic will get modified bumpers, a new grille, a revised hood, and updated head- and taillights.

For the interior Honda will offer a slightly modified two-tier dashboard, a revised steering wheel, and a new climate control system. As for the engine line-up, all we know is there will be a new range of petrol and diesel engine, including a new 1.5 liter and a new 1.8 liter engine. The Civic will also receive a new dual-clutch transmission. With the new engine line-up Honda will focus on improving the fuel economy and not on the car’s performance.

Honda’s most successful model in the lineup will be receiving a few updates for its European version in 2011. The Honda Civic will not only get some exterior modifications, but it will also get some tweaks for the interior.

The first addition to the exterior of the Civic is a new front grille inspired from the iconic ‘Type R’ model. The grille is followed by a range of new alloy wheels fitted as standard with individual designs and sizes dependent on the variant chosen. The five-door range in the 1.4L SE and Si, as well as the 1.8L SE trim level, will get new 16-inch rims. The five-door 1.8-liter Si now wears a fresh set of 17-inch boots. Also for 2011, customers will have another exterior color to choose from: Ionized Bronze.

For the interior, Honda will offer a series of new interior finishes. The SE and ES trim gets half fabric and luxurious Alcantara, while the Si is now half leather and Alcantara with heated front seats.

The new Civic will go on sale in November at a price of £13,995.

The build preview of Fox Marketing’s 2012 Honda Civic Si Coupe happened more than six weeks ago just after the conclusion of the Frankfurt Motor Show. Since that time, Fox Marketing has finally completed their SEMA-bound project, and it is as good - maybe even better - than what we initially thought.

The event is less than a week away and since a lot of automakers and aftermarket companies are coming out with previews of their programs, Fox Marketing has joined in on the fun with a doozy of a program for the Civic SI Coupe. The tuning project for the car involves a modified chassis, an extensive exterior make-over, and best of all, a tuning program that will boost the car’s output all the way up to 450 horsepower courtesy of an intercooler kit, among other things. For a car that carries a 2.4-liter engine with ’only’ 201 horsepower and 170 lb/ft of torque on tap, bumping the output by over 150% is nothing short of extraordinary.

In addition to the engine upgrade, Fox Marketing also gave the car some aesthetic and aerodynamic enhancements, including a a Blue Pearl exterior finish, a new aero kit, a lowered suspension system, a new set of 20" wheels wrapped in Toyo Proxes 4 Tires, and Yonaka Ronin Racing Seats with factory Civic Si fabric inserts.

The Honda Civic is currently in its eight generation, but the company is already preparing the ninth one. After only four years of production, the current Civic will be replaced in 2011 and, apparently, this is the first image of the car. The new Civic will target models like Hyundai Elantra and the Suzuki Kizashi . Sales should begin in 2012.

However, if this is indeed the next Civic, there are no major changes in terms of its design. Previous reports said the next Civic would feature a CR-Z inspired exterior design with a little futuristic edge. It is rumored the biggest changes will be made under the hood with Honda focusing on reducing consumption and fuel economy. Expect to see a new generation of the low emission three-cylinder engine and a hybrid version featuring the same powertrain as the CR-Z: a 1.5-liter petrol engine assisted by an electric motor that delivers a total of 124 HP and 131 lb-ft of torque.

We have some terrible news to report. Honda will be discontinuing the Civic Type R in Europe due to emission regulations. Sales should come to a close by the end of the year.

The motor, a 2.0-liter VTEC, doesn’t pass the EuroV emission rules and Honda has decided that it just isn’t worth it to make it compliant. We say that this is absolute bull.

What makes this situation even worse is that the Civic Type R will still be produced at the Swindon plant in the UK. The only difference is that they will now be producing them for other markets.

As a final farewell gesture, Honda will hold a Civic Type R meeting at the Silverstone raceway during the British Touring Car Championship. There will be special parking for owners of the car and the winner will get to do a lap of Northamptonshire circuit.

We hope that Honda decides to grow a pair and recreate the Type R for the upcoming Civic because they have already taken away the NSX and the S2000. Pretty soon, Honda will become just another middle-aged company with boring old sedans. Sort of like Toyota, but even they’re creating a sports car.

The first running of the Goodwood Moving Motor Show was the scene of a horrifying car accident that occurred when a spectator sitting inside a running Honda Civic Mugen R accidentally stepped on the gas pedal, causing the car to plow straight into two pedestrians and two parked Jaguars, the oldest surviving Jaguar E-Type and a new Jaguar XKR .

Not exactly the kind of start it was hoping for.

Details are still limited, but witnesses present during the entire incident suggested that the driver of the Civic Mugen R was sitting cozy on the driver’s seat of the car before mistakenly revving up the running car and sending careening across the main pedestrian hallway and straight into the Jaguar booth before crashing into the back wall on the other side of the pavilion.

It took a while for the scene to be cleared up but in the end, the show eventually reopened to the public except for one event: the much hyped ‘Ride and Drive’.

Incidents like this could have been avoided if people just exercised a little sense of caution. But since it already happened, the most important thing is that while a number of people were hurt, it doesn’t appear to be too serious to have caused any serious injuries.

Buying a car can be great fun, but no matter how good your new vehicle is, there is always room for improvement. Most car and truck manufacturers leave room for us normal people to improve, or ruin their products. That’s not to say the original vehicle isn’t good, but in that good old American fashion, we always want to better our situation, in this case, our cars.

One of the easiest and cheapest upgrades one can do is an exhaust system. Sadly, many people add exhausts to cars that don’t need them, likeDodge Neons . A performance exhaust can free up some of the power in your engine by allowing the gases to escape a bit easier. When the gases can escape, your engine runs smoother.

Anyway, when the exhaust flows better, the fuel and air exit the combustion chamber faster and new fuel and air can be burned to create more power.

This works well for certain cars, but for some, the only effect that a bigger exhaust has is more noise. Putting a performance exhaust on a 1.8-liter Honda Civic won’t help the power all the much, but it’ll make it sound like a fart can.

The large car craze in the United States is at the end of its life cycle, at least we hope. Gas prices are still a bit high, but they will need to rise just a bit more in order to really bring the small car back into our thoughts again.

That being said, some of the most popular cars on the market today were once considered way too small to be safe. Take the Honda Fit and Toyota Yaris for example. The three-door Yaris is a pretty popular car, but many still find it to be the size of a shoebox rather than the size of a proper car. The Fit is a little bigger, but Americans still find it a bit too small for their tastes. Maybe the seats just aren’t wide enough.

Modern safety laws and design have helped these small cars earn five-star safety ratings, but size still matters in some people’s minds. It’s going to take a few very special small cars, and even a few minivans and wagons, to shake America’s love with large, oversized vehicles. Here are the top ten cars that aren’t available in the United States.

The 2010 Honda Civic sedan is one of the most iconic cars in the world. Sometimes, iconic cars can get a bit soft, like the Toyota Camry, but the Civic has continued to push the boundaries in terms of style and performance. The new 2010 Civic is a really good, economical car and still sells very well. In times of high gas prices, the Civic proved to be a best seller. It’s offered in a wide variety of styles, trims, and prices and it can be tailored to meet everybody’s expectations.

Once Honda’s smallest car, the Civic is more of smaller mid-size sedan than a compact one. The 2010 Civic is actually the same size as the Accord was 15 years ago. Yet, despite the size increase, the Civic retains its agility, efficiency, comfort, and reliability. That being said the Honda Civic is a good car, but it’s not great. A few years ago the Civic was a fantastic little car and the best buy in the segment, but years have passed and the competition is becoming a real threat. The Civic is due for a refresh.

Some of the Civic’s design elements are too weird for us, like the dual-tiered instrument panel. This means that the rev-counter is on the bottom tear, while one tier up and far back in the digital speedometer. Most shoppers will forget about this odd fashion, but it never really grew on us in the time we had the car.

The 2010 Honda Civic is available in sedan form or as a coupe. For both, there are five trim levels: DX, LX, EX, EX-L, and Si. On the Civic sedan, Honda offers the DX Value Package, the LX-S, a GX, and a Hybrid.
