with 2 rows of seats. It competitors are the Mitsubishi Pajero and Outlander, Toyota Fortuner, the Ford Endeavour and the Chevrolet Captiva.
Despite our lack of love for these machines, they are cars that people love to buy, so we felt we had to rank our favorites, despite not really having a favorite. It’s more like a list from the vehicles we can’t stand to the machines we could tolerate.
In order to rank these crossovers we had to look at them in a few ways. The reason for buying one of these is practicality, safety, style, and comfort. That’s what the public is looking at. We, on other hand, will incorporate those with our own interests, such as speed, driving dynamics, and coolness level. All of these machines will cost under $30,000.
There are plenty to choose from, with options from Ford, General Motors, Honda, and Toyota. Not to mention the smaller companies like Hyundai and Kia who are creating better machines on a monthly basis. So, do these new boys have what it takes to take down the old veterans?
The Honda CR-V SUV is entering the 2010 model year with refinements and upgrades to the exterior and interior, new features, better fuel economy, and more power. Prices for the new model will range from $21,545 for the CR-V LX 2WD version and will go up to $29,745 for the CR-V EX-L 4WD with Navigation package.
For 2010 the 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine improve power output to 180 hp, a 14 hp increase. City/highway EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings increase to 21/28 mpg on 2WD models and 21/27 mpg on models equipped with Real Time 4WD - an increase of 1 mpg in both city and highway driving on all models.
On the exterior Honda added a freshened front fascia with a new grille and bumper design, a re-sculpted hood, and a new rear bumper shape. A 10-spoke alloy wheel design, standard on CR-V EX and EX-L, replaces the previous 7-spoke alloy wheel design. Interior improvements focus on new features and functionality. Bluetooth HandsFreeLink is now included on models equipped with the available Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System. Auto on/off headlights have been added to the CR-V EX-L and the front seats have wider center armrests on all models.
Honda has already started the work on the next generation CR-V SUV, a model that according to Mag-X Japanese magazine is defined by ’Premium’ and ’sporty’. The official unveiling will be made in October 2011 at the Tokyo Motor Show.
The next-generation CR-V will be built on the same platform as the current generation. The entry level will get a 2,0 liter engine, but also the 2.4L K24A engine will also carry over. The North American market will not get a V6 version.
The Honda CR-V, one of the best-selling sport utility vehicles for 2007, provides spacious five-passenger seating in a versatile crossover SUV package with sedan-like handling. Engineered to be a safety leader, the CR-V achieves the highest five-star crash safety rating by the federal government for both frontal and side impacts and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) rates the CR-V as a "Top Safety Pick - 2007." The CR-V is one of only two small SUVs to achieve both the highest federal crash safety rating for frontal and side impacts and the top IIHS safety rating.

Honda CR-V will go into production starting this fall at the assembly plant in Guadalajara, Mexico. Honda plans to build 50,000 CR-Vs in the plant in 2008.
"We are switching that plant entirely over to the CR-V," says David Iida, a Honda spokesman in Detroit. "This move is based on consumer demand for these small crossovers."

The new Honda CR-V was just launched on the market, and with its launched the japanesse tuner Mugen has released it’s own version for the new SUV.
The upgrades made by Mugen include a front spoiler with integrated day/night lamps, a sports grille, a lower rear spoiler that integrates dual, center-mounted exhaust tips, a wing spoiler and Mugen 19-inch TT wheels.
Honda announced the all-new 2007 Honda CR-V is debuting today at dealerships nationwide. There is nothing told about the technical details, but the engines options are: a 2,0 i-VTEC engine with an output of 150hp and a 2,2 upset-diesels engine i-CTDi with an output of 140 hp.
