In accordance with Honda's industry-leading "Safety for Everyone" initiative, all CR-Vs come equipped with an extensive list of standard safety equipment including front driver's and front passenger's airbags, driver's side airbag and front passenger's side airbag with Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS), side curtain airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with Traction Control, and Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS) - more than any other vehicle in the entry SUV category.

The SE trim level CR-V is based upon the EX trim level with the addition of a number of amenities, including heated leather seats and side view mirrors, and a leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. On the outside, the CR-V SE also sports body-colored bumpers, side molding, door handles and a hard spare tire cover. Along with three other available exterior colors, Pewter Pearl is still solely offered on the SE trim.

A five speed automatic transmission became standard for all CR-V trim levels in the 2005 model year. Additionally, a cam-driven real-time AWD mechanism replaced the previous pump-type system on all models, improving acceleration and hill climbing performance. Integrated keyless remote entry is standard on all CR-V trim levels.

The exterior of the CR-V was freshened in 2005 with a new front grill, cylindrical-shaped headlights and aerodynamic front bumper. A side sill and side protector garnish the side of the CR-V while rear combination lights and rear bumper renovate the rear of the vehicle. The CR-V has 16" wheels as standard equipment on all trim levels. Steering mounted audio controls and outside temperature gauge adorn the interior of the EX and SE trim levels.

Two new exterior colors join the CR-V palate for 2006: Royal Blue Pearl and Alabaster Silver Metallic, both with black interior.
