It is not very often that we get excited about a minivan, however Honda’s new Odyssey Concept from the Chicago Auto Show has a few neat features that not only caught our eye, but made us come back for a second glimpse and look forward to the production version that is scheduled to follow this Fall. That is because the new concept features a sleeker, stronger and more dynamic presence with a low slung roof line and a slightly wider stance powered by a fuel efficient i-VTEC V6 with three mode Variable Cylinder Management that is expected to deliver an estimated 19 MPG in the city and as much as 28 MPG on the highway. "The Odyssey established its reputation by providing families with what they most want in a minivan - great functionality, an emphasis on safety and good fuel economy," said Vicki Poponi, assistant vice president of American Honda product planning. "Odyssey then further delighted customers with its surprisingly engaging, fun-to-drive and dynamic nature. The next-generation Odyssey promises to take these strengths to a higher level while adding more style and personality." Press release after the jump. The all-new 2011 Odyssey is expected to achieve an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating1 of 19 city/28 highway miles-per gallon on select models (preliminary estimate determined by Honda). 20 comments: Honda Odyssey Concept HIDEOUS!!! Honda can’t design a toilet let alone a car. Who cares if the internals are good? Oprah may have the heart of a goddess but her outer visage makes me puke. Ain’t gonna ride Oprah and ain’t gonna ride no Honda. Blechhh.
well honda must placed this already into presentation, this is a good idea MPV and superior than the Honda Stream MUGEN.
I’m actually looking forward to this car, if only because it suggests Honda is moving towards more commonality between its North American products and its Euro/JDM ones. This Odyssey looks surprisingly similar to the smaller, four-(swing-out)-door Odyssey van sold
elsewhere in the world:
Still a concept? but honestly it looks aggressive and it’s stance are bolder than the old model of Odyssey and stream.
Seems like a pretty neat good ride for the family. It will surely have enough space to carry the kids and their stuffs on the daily basis but with that kind of mileage, it doesn’t seem to be money wise.
@ Ping_Guererro - IMO your wrong, honda stream is way better than this, stream is more Aggressive and sporty plus mugen added some tickle to it already.
Looks like it is more spacious than Honda Stream, Mazda 5 and Previa, but since its is a concept, i’ll stick to the Mazda 5 as of now.
The one thing that I look for in a minivan aside from the mileage that it can give is the safety features of the car. Most minivans are for families and it will be great if it has features that doesn’t just protect the driver but it protects all passengers. Including those that are very young.
