The first Honda Civic was revealed in 1973, and after 37 years of history the company is offering a wide range with technologically advanced Civic Sedan and Coupe models, a Civic Hybrid, a high-performance Civic Si and a Civic GX model that runs exclusively on natural gas. Customers will have the possibility to choose from three engines. Base version will be powered by a 1.8-liter i-VTEC engine that delivers 140 HP, while the SI version gets a 2.0-liter i-VTEC engine that delivers 197 HP. There is also a Hybrid version powered by a 1.3-liter i-VTEC engine with Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) gasoline-electric hybrid technology. The SI version is distinguished by sport-tuned suspension, damper and stabilizer bar tuning, exclusive 17-inch alloy wheels and high-performance tires. Exclusive exterior features include a rear wing spoiler (low profile on the sedan) and Si emblems. The sports-oriented interior adds firmly-bolstered and performance oriented sport-trimmed black cloth seats with synthetic suede bolsters and red stitching. The exterior and the interiorThe 2011 Civic features a sweeping roofline and a sleek windshield, an advanced, one-motion profile with a low and wide stance. The interior focuses on sophisticated styling with a two-tier instrument panel, comfortable seating and accommodating storage areas with room for mobile phones, MP3 players and more. The EX-L version offers luxurious leather-trimmed cabin and heated front seats, while the sporty LX-S features exclusive silver-stitched black upholstery and a perforated leather- wrapped steering wheel. The Civic Civic DX, DX-VP, LX, EX and EX-L versions are offered with a 1.8-liter i-VTEC engine that delivers 140 HP and a 5-speed automatic transmission. The Civic SI version is offered with a 2,0 liter i-VTEC engine that delivers 197 HP and is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The Civic Hybrid is powered by a 1.3-liter i-VTEC engine with Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) gasoline-electric hybrid technology to enhance both fuel economy and performance, and is equipped with a continuously variable transmission. The Civic GX version is powered by a 1.8-liter i-VTEC engine and is equipped with a 5-speed automatic transmission. The competitionThe list of competitors is quite long and includes the Toyota Corolla, the Kia Forte Koup or the Subaru Impreza. Of course the Impreza is the first choice, but you have to admit that the Civic is also as good as any other model on its segment. For the Corolla the prices start from around $16k and is offered in three trim levels: Corolla, LE, and S, all powered by a 1.8-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine, which produces 132 hp at 6,000 rpm and 128 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm. Kia Forte Koup, a competitor for the coupe version, is powered by a 2.4-liter, inline four-cylinder that delivers 173 HP and 168lbs-ft pf torque. Prices
