Honda has announced that the company will unveil a new Civic Concept in January 2011 at the Detroit Auto Show, less than a month away. The first sketch reveals a sleek and aerodynamic profile of the show vehicle. According to the company this is in fact a preview version of the ninth-generation 2012 Civic that will go on sale in the spring 2011.
Honda didn’t offer any details on the concept, but the first sketch reveals an exterior design strongly inspired by the CR-Z hybrid sports car. We imagine that the concept will feature the usual petrol and diesel engines offered in the previous models, but a hybrid powertrain is also a possibility. Rumors suggest that the concept might also carry a dual clutch transmission.
John Mendel, American Honda executive vice president of sales, will introduce the concept vehicle at a press conference, which will also be broadcasted live via webcast on www.hondanews.com/live2011naias.
