2011 Honda CR-Z Memorial Award Edition

Getting an award is quite an honor, but getting the title of Japanese Car of the Year is apparently something that warrants a little more than a simple thank you. The Honda CR-Z’s success on the Japanese market has led it to this prestigious award, and has led Honda to unveil a special edition to celebrate the event. Appropriately named the Memorial Award Edition, this special edition will only be available in Japan in a limited run of 1000 units. Honda sure seems excited about this title, huh?

The CR-Z Memorial Award Edition will be offered exclusively in Pearl Deep Sapphire Blue exterior paint with Dark Pewter Gray 16" wheels in a five double-spoke design. Onlookers will know exactly what this car is all about thanks to a sticker affixed on the driver’s side quarter glass that lists all of its options.

For the interior, the new CR-Z Memorial Award Edition adds a medium gray finish, sporty aluminum pedals, and a standard navigation system. Other than that, you get the standard 1.5-liter i-VTEC four-cylinder engine with 122 HP and 123 lb.-ft. of torque.

The price for the special CR-Z Memorial Award Edition is JPY 2,794,000 (or about $34,200 at the current exchange rates). So basically, customers interested in the Award model will get to spend almost twice the amount of the standard CR-Z for less upgrades than we can count on one hand. Doesn’t seem smart, does it?

I love the abstract design of this vehicle, and I have to agree that it already looks great on its body paint. I also noticed that its wheels make this vehicle look perfect! smiley

It is already looks so great and fabulous on its sleek body paint, and the car lines that it had was very elegant on it but I’m quite wondering on its interior features and is it already on the market?

Impressive color and car lines indeed! It seems so classy and already awesome despite of having a simple platform. I’d still wait of another updated news about it.

Impressive color and car lines, CR-Z really had the looks that is so impressive but Lilia Endrizzi is right that it seems, it didn’t have a special features.

Well, I really don’t like a special edition for it doesn’t have any impressive thing to offer! The speed performance of the car is remarkable.

Well, there’s a newer version for this car. I’m really glad that the deliver power output of the car has increases. I’m impressed with the package that was offer here.

We all know on how hybrid car performs and how it help to diminish those green house gases. However, too bad that only few can afford these cars for they are quite expensive . It just mean that still the percentage of using a gasoline-powered vehicle is higher.

this car reminds me of the Suzuki car. Well, for a hybrid car is has an amazing look. This car won the Green car of the year and I would say that Honda really deserve it. Green cars are the solution for our environmental problem..so let’s go green!

Honda CR-Z 2011 has favorably regarded with its respectful look, lets say a very good model for aspiring car seekers.

The success in the market with Honda CR-Z get the winning standard that is currently release its version at a very good cost of value. No wonder you see the guts to make it to the top of the list.

nice color,I like the concept that symbolizes a very cool and warm looks.
This special edition will only be available in Japan in a limited run of 1000 units.

Basically the car look so awesome but I think Honda had forgot the most important thing..the fuel economy and sporty performance, they should work more on that.

Want to bet that Toyota could do a GT version of the Prius that would handle as well as this car while retaining its far superior economy and utility?

What cars do you think CR-Z buyers are going to compare it to? I’m betting other hybrids first.

This is a big time cop out and outright surrender by Honda and it seems, an admission that they no longer have the stones to be seen as a segment leader.

agree but Unfortunately this Memorial Award Edition does not feature any performance upgrade and you have to make do with the same 120 hp output, but it comes with some new goodies inside and out.

Honda CR-Z Sports Hybrid recently won Japan’s Car of The Year award. That apparently was such a big moment for Honda they decided to release a special edition of the car to commemorate it!

not only i like the interior I also like the Exterior it looks very aggressive and sporty but they really don’t know that its only a 1.6 engine without turbo hehehe.

I like the new 16-inch wheels that feature a five double-spoke design and a silver finish. for sure honda wanted for this baby to accelerate faster than other competitors.

The back looks to me allot like the Renault Megane. The front is definetly Honda and I’m glad to see that they are developing a iconic recognizable look.
