The Honda Civic->ke236 Type R is one of those cars that can be painful to talk about. As the last bastion of true Honda->ke34 Performance, the Type R makes every enthusiast drool and dream. But like so many Japanese rockets, the Civic->ke236 Type R has never been a U.S. import.

Now with the Geneva Motor Show->ke228 coming up next month, Honda has seen fit to tease us with more forbidden fruit; the concept model for the new Civic Type R.

All we have currently is this artist’s concept drawing which is far more aggressive and interesting than we ever imagined a Civic could be. The entire car looks like it was designed to be racecar->ke148, and then someone stripped off the sponsorship stickers.

Massive tires, extreme aero pieces and a full body kit are all part of the new Type R design.

2015 Honda Civic Type R

For starters, there is that massive wing. It is so large that even the most die-hard Subaru STI drivers would blush. The fenders have been stretched by several inches, and the massive wheels seem to swell within them. Below that massive wing is a large rear diffuser and quad-exit exhaust.

One of the more unique touches of this concept are the taillights that are integrated into the sides of the spoiler. This seems like a great way to meet taillight height requirements while adding a special touch to the overall design.

It is hard to make out in the drawing, but there is actually a door cut at the rear, meaning this is actually a four-door Civic. It’s not unheard of for Honda to produce a sedan version of the Type R, but traditionally most Type Rs are coupes.

Power for the new Type R will come from a four-cylinder that will be tuned to produce upwards of 280 horsepower.
