In Europe, the high performance version of Opel models are sold under the OPC name, in Britain Vauxhall opted for VXR and, in Australia, they have Holden Special Vehicles. Their latest creation is a special edition GTS built to celebrate the company’s 25th anniversary. This special edition GTS will be limited to only 140 units: 125 for Australia and 15 for New Zealand.
The HSV GTS is powered by a 6.2 liter, LS3 V8 engine (same used in the standard GTS) that delivers a total of 435 HP, but it will be set apart by a series of special features. These include 20" forged alloy wheels with Satin Graphite finish, and unique ’Vector’ hood scoops and side vents.
The model will also be offered with standard equipment that includes magnetic ride control suspension, navigation system, Bluetooth connectivity, blind-spot monitoring, and a bi-mode exhaust.

Australia’s favorite sports car is getting some updates for 2011, but not much has changed aesthetically, or mechanically for that matter. What HSV has done is added a slew of technological updates to the E-series to come up with the new E-Series 3. The sports car will go on sale at the end of this month.
The most impressive technological advancement for the E-Series 3 is the new Enhanced Driver Interface. This interface allows vehicle performance data to get pushed to the car’s touch screen display, something we are sure everyone would find amazing and helpful. Adding to the technology is also HSV’s new Side Blind Alert which is optional on all models in the 3 range and the Liquid Propane Injection which comes on all of the models except the Clubsport R8 Tourer . The interior will receive a new ‘Oracle’ dash, a new model specific stainless steel ID plate on the center console, new twin-stitch seat trims on GTS and Senator Signature, as well as a new leather color in Turismo Rosso and a Piano black trim on the center console and steering wheel.
The list of standard equipment includes the Enhanced Driver Interface, reverse camera with rear park assist, satellite navigation, and touchscreen radio with iPod connectivity.
Since nothing was mentioned of the engine options, we are going to assume that the E-Series 3 will be powered by the same heart stopping V8 engine that was found on the previous model . This engine allows the Australian sports car to produce 431hp with the top of the line GTS models getting 442hp.
The Holden E-Series 3 is definitely not a bad gig for the Land Down Under. We only wish we could get our hands on one of these in the States. It looks like something that would be right up our alley.
Even though the Pontiac G8 will be taking a leave of absence from teh U.S. market, one of the world’s greatest four door saloons is still selling strong in it’s native land down under. So well indeed that the haigh performance division of the Australian member of General Motors, the Holden Specialty Vehicles division has just taken the curtain off the all new for 2010 E Series 2 (E2) range, a lineup of automobiles that comes with quite a significantly aggressive new design as well as a number of new features that solidifies the makes position as Australia’s favourite luxury and performance car company.
Every iteration of the 2010 E2 range is powered by a ground pounding V8 making a maximum output of at least 431 HP, while the top of the line GTS models get a slight bump in power resulting in a peak output of 442 HP. For 2010 the E Series vehicles will feature driver oriented applications like Competition Mode ESC, extended cruise control, daytime running lights, Magnetic Ride Control (MRC) and four piston brake calipers up front as well as out back.
When the Australian super cars do go on sale, they will be priced as follows: The ClubSport R8 will come in at $65,990 Australian, the Maloo R8 will cost $62,990 and the ClubSport R8 Tourer will go for $66,990. The ever powerful GTS model will retail for $80,990 offering up almost 450 HP while the Senator Signature will set customers $82,990 and the most expensive member of the E2 family will be the WM Grange when it goes on sale for $87,990.
Holden announced today that its special vehicles range also known as HSV will receive the new GM LS3 engine. The 6.2 liter V8 engine capable of developing 425 hp at 6000rpm will be available in dealerships from April. The engine is currently used on the Chevrolet Corvette but it will also fit the new Pontiac GXP.
Although the engine increased its power it also delivers a slight fuel economy improvement using 14.5ltr/100km in manual mode and 14.4ltr/100km in automatic mode. The HSV cars will also receive new 20 inch wheel option available for $2500 and new colour pallete.
GTS is the ultimate expression in performance motoring. Its supercar pedigree is undeniable. Equipped with massive power outputs, revolutionary Magnetic Ride Control suspension and for the first time in HSV’s history, huge 20-inch wheels for race-inspired handling and pure excitement.
As the most recognisable and popular nameplate in the HSV stable, ClubSport has always epitomised the brand’s core values of outstanding sporting performance combined with exceptional value for money but the latest E Series ClubSport R8 elevates that equation to a stratospheric new level. totally fresh from the ground up - with 301 individual and unique HSV enhancements, it brings even more street-wise road presence, more performance technologies and more driver oriented sporting appointments, yet the price is actually below that of the outgoing model.
