Three Hummer H3 Concepts for SEMA
Hummer is preparing three H3 Concepts for the future SEMA Show: H3T Weekend Warrior Concept, Four Wheeler Magazine Project Trailhugger and H3x Concept. The H3T Weekend Warrior is based on the H3T Alpha and is powered by a 5.3-liter V8 engine that now delivers 370 hp (up from the standard 300hp). The concept is painted in Baja Orange Metallic and features roof-mounted and grille-mounted off-road lamps, a body-color upper grille and custom hood graphics. The H3 X Concept is painted in Canyon Metallic and features bright roof crossbows; chrome fuel filler door, assist steps and brush guard; body-color grille and spare tire cover; 18-inch wheels and embroidered seat headrests. The H3 Alpha Four Wheeler Project Trailhugger was developed in association with Four Wheeler Magazine. It is painted in a matte red paint and is equipped with Simulock 16-inch wheels; Gobi Stealth roof rack with a custom, wireless remote-operated perimeter lighting system, Warn XD9000 winch, DeFelice Offroad Innovations winch mount system and Up Armor skid plate. Hummer H3 gets wooden wagon wheels
Wild West is here, in this Hummer H3. Hummer always wants to instill the image of off-road toughness, and what better way to do that then by giving it the "covered wagon" look of wooden wagon wheels. This Hummer is actually an exhibit that will be parked on Old Burlington Road as part of Zoo Art Fair in Central London. Artist Matthew Harrison used the wooden wheels to create a sculpture that he says is a mixture of art, engineering and motoring. To our untrained eye, we’ll just consider it very old school. Hummer H4 coming in 2012
Hummer doesn’t seem like the likely candidate for General Motors to invest in a new model. After all, gas prices are still high, and it’s no secret that the Hummer brand is for sale. But a new model, a smaller one, looks to be in the works. This smaller model may entice companies to buy the brand. According to Automobile Magazine Hummer is considering something similar to the HX Concept. To be called H4, the new model would arrive around 2012 and give Hummer a direct competitor to the Jeep Wrangler. The HX Concept is powered by a E85 FlexFuel 3.6L SIDI V6 engine mated to a six speed automatic transmission. 2008 Hummer H2 E85
From the ’Better Late Than Never’ file, Hummer unveiled today a version of the H2 that runs on E85 ethanol fuel. The car brand known for being a fuel hog is getting greener. The H2 can actually run solely on E85 ethanol, gasoline or any combination of the two fuels. Other GM flex-fuel vehicles currently on the road are only able to run up to 85 percent ethanol (E85). The latest developments that have enabled the H2 to run on E85 ethanol are being carried on to other vehicles in the Hummer line. The H3 will become E85 capable later in 2009. A four-cylinder turbo diesel engine is also being developed for the H3. Press release after the jump. Full story Las Vegas Hummer dealership close its doors
One of the largest Hummer dealerships is about to close its doors forever. The only dealership to service the Las Vegas area will be at least the eighth Hummer dealer closing this year. This closing just compounds the problem General Motors is having selling the large SUV brand. This closing is notable because of where it is taking place, and who is pulling the plug. The dealership was featured on the A&E reality TV show "King of Cars", where the Hummer sales were a hallmark of the dealership’s flashy image. Dealership owner Dan Towbin once said that Las Vegas is a custom fit for Hummer, “It’s all about bling and it’s in the desert” To replace one trendy brand with another, the Las Vegas dealership will soon sell Smart models. Mahindra may buy Hummer from GM
Mahindra is an Indian carmaker that first gained attention by building Jeeps for the home market. Now they may be interested in moving on to the next generation of American military vehicles by buying the Hummer brand. This may seem like an odd move during a time when high fuel prices are causing large SUVs to grow stale on dealer lots, but Mahindra may be looking at Hummer for part of a bigger plan. It’s no secret that General Motors wants to get rid of Hummer, and Mahindra may utilize its name and products to help bring it’s own cars to the U.S. Its rumored that the company is developing a network of around 300 dealerships across the U.S. to sell Mahindra vehicles, with a $125,000 fee being asked from dealerships to become franchisees. Hummer-Bentley SUV
Sometimes, having too much money can harm people’s mind and desires, what can be a total kitsch for us can be a luxury for them. It is the case of an arabian from Dubai who recently got rich and and decided that if Bentley wouldn’t make a SUV line than he can invent one just for himself. He could have chosen for a Range Rover, a Q7 or a VW Touareg V10 TDI but he wanted to invent his own SUV and so he embodied a Bentley in a Hummer. It looks really bad and hurts the eyes when looking at it, it is of totally bad taste but this is the result of too much money and no sense for beautiful. Renault Sherpa - the French version of Hummer
Renault reveals its Sherpa in two new versions. The Sherpa concept, claimed as the French equivalent of the American Hummer, was developed as a light 4x4 military truck dedicated to projection and intervention units. The new versions aim to achieve popularity also through the civilian market where the Hummer is pretty famous. The Sherpa 2 provides in one version 4 seats for passengers, offering a payload of 2 to 3 tons and the Sherpa 3 is a two-seater pick-up featuring 10’ flat bed supporting a total payload of 4.1 tons. Both models get a Euro 4 turbocharged 4-cylinder diesel engine capable of 215 HP at 2,300rmp. The truck can reach a top speed of 120 km/h on a flat road surface while its autonomy at a cruising speed of 70 km/h is 900km. 2009 HUMMER H3T prices announced
Even if GM is considering selling Hummer , they needed to do a final attempt of bringing back the brand to its previous success. In September the 2009 H3T will go on sale at a price starting at $31,495. The H3T is offered in four trim levels, including five-cylinder models and the popular, V-8-powered H3T Alpha edition. The standard version is powered by a Vortec 3.7L I-5 with dual overhead cams and variable valve timing. This inline five-cylinder engine offers an excellent combination of power and efficiency, delivering 242 hp at 5600 rpm and 242 lb.-ft. of torque at 4600 rpm. The engine is mated with a a five-speed manual transmission or an available four-speed, electronically controlled automatic. The H3T Alpha will be powered by 5.3 liter V8 engine that delivers 300 hp and a peak torque of 320 lbs-ft. An aluminum cylinder block is used with the H3 Alpha’s engine. It helps reduce overall mass and maintains a more desirable front-to-rear weight balance. The engine is mated with a Hydra-Matic 4L60 electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission. Full story 2008 HUMMER H3 Sensation
