Hyundai Genesis

The Genesis Coupe R-Spec is not the only model Hyundai will be presented with at SEMA Show. In Cooperation to Street Concepts they will show a customized Genesis sedan. What is more important is that graphic designer Courtney Mason will paint a one-of-a-kind graphic on a Pearl White Street Concepts Genesis sedan live at the show.

The Street Concepts Genesis exterior will be outfitted with 3M carbon fiber roof panels, black chrome accents by Chrome Tech, and upper and lower spoilers from RKSport. The vehicle will boast upper and lower E&G front mesh grilles also finished in black chrome by Chrome Tech. Interior features include custom suede and piano black detailing as well as carbon fiber dash accents. It will sit on 22-inch wheels featuring Chrome Tech black chrome wheel centers with black lips and General Exclaim UHP tires.

Thanks to Eibach lowering springs, Brembo brakes and a Magnaflow cat-back exhaust, the 4.6-liter V8 engine will deliver an impressive 375 hp.

Hyundai has some big things in store for the 2009 SEMA show. Last year the Korean car company commissioned a few tuned Genesis Coupe s from aftermarket notables like HKS and RMR , well this year one of the only automobile manufacturers not in the red will show off the R Spec Genesis Coupe , an enthusiast model, at the world’s largest aftermarket car show in Las Vegas. The $23,750 Genesis Coupe comes complete with everything you need to have fun behind the wheel while eliminating some of the more expensive features that you don’t.

The R Spec is powered by the familiar 2.0 Liter turbocharged four cylinder engine pumping out a total of 210 HP and is mated to a close ration 6 speed manual transmission. The tuner Coupe makes the most of Hyundai’s Track Package and includes the upgraded suspension, 19 inch rims, Brembo brake calipers and a limited slip differential to ensure that the power is laid down evenly across the rear axle and that drifts are executed with smokey perfection.

The tuner friendly R Spec Genesis Coupe does ditch a few features like Bluetooth hands free connectivity, automatic headlights, cruise control, chrome interior accents and steering wheel mounted audio controls. However at $3,000 less than the well equipped 2.0T Track Package vehicle, we are almost positive that future Genesis Coupe owners won’t mind.

One particular highlight of the 2009 Miami Auto show was the HKS Hyundai Genesis Coupe that was built specially for the 2008 SEMA show. Now while Hyundai is stepping up their game for this year’s show with a mid mounted Tau V8 powered Genesis Coupe being prepared by none other than Rhys Millen himself, and while the new car is supposed to be a bit of a sleeper, the HKS creation is anything but such a thing.

Hyundai brings the HKS Genesis Coupe to the 2009 South Florida International Auto Show.

The Tskuba Red coupe wears a Kenstyle bodykit that gives the Korean car an aggressive blend of Japanese style without going over the top in the traditional ricer fashion. Devoid of big wings and way too much camber; like most high end creations it is the details that you don’t see that makes the HKS creation so nice. For instance the hood mounted front spoiler goes almost unnoticed, just like the ghosted in graphic that identifies this car as an HKS creation. The grille opening has been enlarged and the front bumper opens up wider, framing the Mobis front mount intercooler nicely and making the new Coupe seem much more stable. Out back the oversized quartet of tailpipes look like it could have been lifted straight off of a Nissan GT-R, while the new rear end compliments the front end nicely, making the Genesis Coupe look much more planted on the ground.

The HKS Genesis Coupe rides on a set of 19 inch Volk Racing rims, some of the finest aftermarket wheels available anywhere. Housed inside of the upgraded rolling stock are a set of multi piston Brembo brake calipers that are ready to bring the Coupe to a hasty halt. That is because thanks to every part from the HKS catalog that ranges from the HKS GT Turbo upgrade to HKS Hipermax III fully adjustable coil over suspension is made to make this tuned Hyundai Genesis Coupe go as good as it looks.

We thought that this year’s SEMA Show will be all about customized Camaro, but apparently we were wrong! The Hyundai Genesis Coupe got a lot of attention too! Rhys Millen Racing will present at SEMA the RM460 Genesis Coupe - a 500 hp, V8 powered sports car.

While a standard Genesis Coupe is powered by either a turbocharged four-cylinder engine or a V6 one, RMR decided that a true sports car needs a V8 under the hood. The reason for using a V8 engine was to improve handling, acceleration, braking and the dynamic driving experience.

The V8 engine has a compression ratio of 11.0:1 and is mated to a five-speed sequential transmission. As a result top speed goes up to 182 mph (up from 149 mph in a standard model).

RMR RM460 sits on 20-inch wheels and features a high-performance braking system by StopTech. At the exterior it features a carbon fiber spoiler and custom carbon fiber rear hatch. On the interior it gets Sparco Chrono sports seats, Sparco Alcantara and carbon fiber interior panels.

Hyundai unveiled at the New York Auto Show the 2010 Genesis Coupe, a purpose-built rear-wheel drive sport coupe featuring two performance-focused engines – a 212-hp, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a range-topping all-aluminum, 306-hp, DOHC 3.8-liter V6 engine. Genesis Coupe is scheduled to join the Hyundai lineup in the spring of 2009.

Hyundai Genesis Coupe

2010 Genesis Coupe was shown as a concept at the 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show and its transformation from concept to production reveals that its signature design features have emerged intact.

Genesis Coupe is lighter than the Infiniti G37, and its chassis is also 24 percent stiffer in bending rigidity than the BMW E46 M3. Rear-wheel drive provides a 55:45 front/rear weight distribution.

Two engines infuse Genesis Coupe with performance. The 3.8-liter Lambda DOHC V6 engine delivers an estimated 306 hp and 263 lb.-ft. of torque on regular unleaded. This engine will launch the Genesis Coupe from 0 to 60 miles per hour in under 6 seconds.

The turbocharged, intercooled 2.0-liter DOHC inline four-cylinder benefits from CVVT on both the intake and exhaust camshafts. The 2.0-liter turbo generates an estimated 212 hp and 217 lb.-ft. of torque. It also features a cast-aluminum cylinder block and cylinder head. Both engines feature a free flowing dual cat-back exhaust and an available limited slip differential to put the power to the ground.

The Korean car builder Hyundai is enjoying unrivaled success with their Genesis Coupe when they introduced a few modified versions of their new sport compact last year at the world’s greatest aftermarket auto show, the Specialty Equipment Market Association convention that takes place every Fall in Las Vegas. While most automakers are pulling out of these kinds of ventures due to the global economic crisis Hyundai is one of the only retailers that is in the black. So in an attempt at following up last year’s trio of SEMA show cars, Hyundai will be well represented this November at the Las Vegas Convention Center with a few new tuner creations .

Hyundai’s latest endeavor is in cooperation with the Japanese high performance aftermarket parts manufacturer GReddy to create the X-Gen Street Genesis Coupe. While Hyundai was in charge of providing a solid foundation, it is the list of items from the Greddy Performance Parts catalog that will make this a true tuner car. The program started with a coupe powered by Hyundai’s 2.0 Liter turbocharged four cylinder engine that in standard trim produces a maximum output of 210 HP and gets 30 MPG has been retooled to make a tire shredding 350 HP and 320 lb-ft of torque.

The exterior of the GReddy Genesis Coupe is made to look a bit more aggressive with an Aero lip spoiler, carbon fiber hood, stylish rear spoiler, light weight Volk Racing G2 wheels wrapped in a set of sticky Toyo high performance rubber. Artists from Hyundai’s North American Design Center in Irvine, California are responsible for the Greddy Genesis Coupe’s unique finish while inside the team has fitted a set of Sparco racing buckets, a modified gauge cluster as well as the all important boost controller to add a little extra pressure into the mix and a turbo timer to ensure that the turbocharger lasts long into the future all controlled by one of Geddy’s remote switching systems in order to eliminate any unnecessary tangles. On a more personal note, this Greddy creation looks a while lot better than last year’s HKS interpretation .

The world’s greatest aftermarket car show, SEMA, is fast approaching and in an attempt to follow up their Hyundai Genesis Coupe Concept from last year’s show, the team at the Huntington Beach based race shop, Rhys Millen Racing , is hard at work gutting a brand new coupe with the hopes of giving it some V8 power. Now even we here at Top Speed have toyed around with the idea of transplanting the 4.6 Liter Tau V8 into the new Genesis coupe in order to create the ultimate Korean hot rod, but where we would consider trying to squeeze the almost 400 HP power plant in between the suspension towers with an oversized shoe horn, the Genesis aficionados at RMR have decided to forego the complicated packaging job and skip the Camaro crowd and turn the Genesis Coupe into a much more exotic mid engine sports car.

RMR is working on a V8 Powered Hyundai Genesis Coupe for SEMA

The mad mechanics at RMR have already gotten seriously underway, literally dissecting the car’s floor pan behind the front seats and added quite a few feet of chassis strengthening square tubing to accommodate the new hole in the underside of the car and in order to handle the car’s newfound power. The purose of the build is to make the most out of Hyundai’s factory pieces and RMR is looking to keep things simple with the new Coupe, so the only modification to the engine will be a set of slightly higher compression JE Pistons and with a little tweaking of the engine management software, the new RMR Genesis Coupe sould produce around 450 HP. The Tau V8 will be mated to a Mendeola S5 five seed sequential gearbox; the same transaxle used in the Ultima GT-R super kit car and will be geared so that the Coupe will be able to reach a top speed of 182 MPH.

The World Drifting Champion Rhys Millen recently raced his new highly modified RMR powered Hyundai Genesis coupe up the 12.4 mile hill climb course that consists of over 150 turns, many of which have no safety barrier and the consequences of running wide is a quick trip down the side of the mountain. However the multi disciplined driver had no prooblem tckling the hill, and broke the record for a 2WD Time Attack production based car in his 17th attempt conquering Pikes Peak, reaching the finish line in 12 minutes and 9.39 seconds.

Restyled Hyundai Genesis Spied

They Hyundai Genesis sedan stole the show last year taking home many automotive journal’s car of the year awards for its ability to blend attractive styling and high end luxury in a resonably priced package. With the scheduled arival of the Equus , Hyundai will now hava a slew of upsclae offerings for new car buyers. Despite the warm reception that the Genesis received last year, a new car only has the ability to make one first impression, so you can expect to see the classic curvilinear shape and signature waterfall grill going through a few restlings as the Genesis ages in order to keep the design fresh and at the forefront of consumer’s consiousness.

This next generation of Hyundai’s flagship sedan was spotted in the deserts of the mid west, most likely undergoing extensive cooling system analysis along with the new Equus. The Genesis is hiding both its nose and rear quarters draped with the traditional black automotive camoflage that makes most spy photographers either jump for joy at the sight of a new car or swear in frustration at not being able to capture what lies beneath. In this case it looks to be a pair of restyled fenders and maybe even a redesigned set of headlights judging by the careful placement of the disguise. However the most interesting feature of this clothed beauty is the black flap in the middle of the grill.

Buying a brand-new Corvette Z06 should be a cause for celebration. But in the case of this poor man, his joyous occasion ended up becoming short-lived - thanks to his wife and her Hyundai Genesis .

Barely an hour after driving off with his new ride, the man’s precious Corvette was in the middle of a roadside accident thanks in large part to a combination of rain, traffic, and his wife’s reckless driving. The resulting carnage could end up costing the couple more than $26,000 in damages to the two vehicles.

The series of unfortunate events began when the couple left the Chevy dealership and ended up stuck in traffic along a rainy Massachusetts freeway. As the traffic began piling up, the husband decelerated his speed to queue up behind the other vehicles in the freeway. Unfortunately for him and his brand-new Z06, the wife, who was following behind in their 9-month old Genesis, wasn’t paying enough attention to the roads ahead and ended up ramming her car onto the back of the Z06, which, in turn, slid forward and hit the car directly in front of him.
