The Korean automaker Hyundai has just officially unveiled the all new 2010 Sonata in its home market of South Korea, after which the next generation Sonata will follow up with a U.S. market debut at either the upcoming L.A. Auto Show in December, or at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit early next January. The sixth generation Hyundai Sonata makes use of the automaker’s more fluid design language that has shaped the Hyundai Genesis luxury sedan. The exterior of the new Sonata is made up of a host of complex curves and bold body lines that create character through their refined and harmonized sculpture. The interior of the new Sonata has a very dynamic look that compliments the exterior while refusing to compromise comfort or convenience for the passengers traveling inside. The 2010 Hyundai Sonata is available in nine different exterior colors ranging from Remington Red to Blue Black and even Espresso; a move made in order to appeal to a more diverse younger customer base. The new Sonata will be powered by a 2.0 Liter Theta II MPi gasoline burning engine cranking out 165 HP and an alternatively fueled LPG variant that generates a maximum output of 144 HP, in either instance the power plants are mated to a new six speed automatic gearbox. When it finally does arrive stateside, Hyundai’s updates to the 2010 Sonata should payoff big time. UPDATE 08/11/2010: Check out out review of the 2010 Hyundai Sonata by clicking here! Press release after the jump. Press release Hyundai Motor Company’s all-new Sonata, being introduced today, is expected to shake up the world’s mid-size sedan market with its daring design. "The Sonata will set a new standard for world class mid-size sedans with state-of-the-art technology, superior build quality and emotional design," Euisun Chung, Hyundai’s Vice Chairman said at the launching ceremony for the car today in Seoul. "The new Sonata will raise Hyundai’s brand values." Hyundai began developing the new Sonata in 2005 under the codename YF (Note: The car may be launched under a different name in some regions). The project took 4 years and 450 billion won (US$ 372 million*) to go from concept to customer. Although it is a completely new vehicle, Hyundai is retaining the Sonata name as the mid-size car has been Korea’s most popular sedan. Applying a new design aesthetic of "fluidic sculpture," the 2010 Sonata pursues a younger and sensuous image in its interior and exterior profiles. Inspired by nature, the "fluidic sculpture" tries to reflect sophistication and dynamism in the shape of the vehicle and will serve as the core of Hyundai’s future design identity. To meet the most stringent automotive safety and crash requirements, the Sonata is built with hot-stamped ultra high-strength steel while featuring six standard airbags. In the new Sonata, Hyundai offers a wireless vehicle monitoring service-another industry first— through the Mozen Autocare service, linking the vehicle’s electronic control systems to a monitoring center. The center checks various components for errors, informs the driver of the analysis, and provides directions to nearby service centers, saving time for drivers. 22 comments: Hyundai Sonata zitkathet08 (586) Posted on 08.26.2011 Korean car are quite newbie in the automobile industry. However, I was impressed on the success of their vehicle. And it offers a quite high speed performing car.

Ken_rogers (363) Posted on 08.1.2011 Well, the figure performance of the car is just a standard for this kind of version. The platform is more elegant than the Prius I would say.

mark_rhys (313) Posted on 03.25.2011 You’re right leezyking , I will agree from what you have said. Electric cars are pointless concept. Im pretty sure that it will be needing a lot of research and testing before they could actually say that electric cars are seamless.
Pepe_Smith (520) Posted on 03.24.2011 Hyundai became the largest and best selling car manufacturers last 2010. It was a breakthrough from their end. I really hope they will continue to provide excellent cars in the future.
amauri_grecco (612) Posted on 03.16.2011 Hyundai were great unmaking such good looking sedan, no question about it, that’s why the Elantra won the best looking sedan! And for sure with their improved features it will definitely satisfy the customers.
pepito_cuervo (390) Posted on 01.31.2011 Hyundai already sells hybrids in its home market & it is said perform ’seamlessly’, so there should be no worries in their actual ’performance’....Also, unlike the other hybrids which only do well in the city but poor on highways, the Sonata hybrid is said to do well both in the city & on highways, & says the actual real world rating is even better than on paper, & of course better than the competition...
leezyking (500) Posted on 01.31.2011 Hybrid stats on paper are pretty meaningless. What we need to know is how this works in the real world? Is the interaction of the electric and gas motors seamless and smooth or is it all jerk , like two different propulsion systems fighting against each other?

Ping_Guererro (939) Posted on 12.6.2010 isn’t that a 2.0L is towards low for a luxury vehicle want this? so that’s why it can compete with Camry and Accord.
sammy_james (693) Posted on 11.26.2010 Yeah right, this one is a great car with the best features ever.
Jackson_white (614) Posted on 04.15.2010 For safety features, they have ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain side airbags, and front side airbags. One of the improving models made by Hyundai today.
CollinGronholmn (707) Posted on 03.8.2010 well very attractive than the camry, also hyundai is claiming that they are way better than the toyota camry.. well IMO they are almost but not yet.
anthonyevers37 (1029) Posted on 01.18.2010 Great looking car, sure it’s quite comfy to ride with it... but i’ve read a lot of reviews and i found out that sonata is an underpower sedan well i guess still it’s a competitor of Camry, accord and Galant.
