Exterior and Interior
Just take one look at the Hyundai Veloster by ARK Performance and it is perfectly clear that the tuning firm has changed a variety of the exterior’s elements. First they added a new front lip, new side skirts, rear bumper, wide front and rear fenders, a new grille, and a rear wing mount. Then they refined the lighting a bit with headlamps and taillights and finished up the additions with a new set of Nitto tires. The body was then splashed with a gray exterior color and highlighted by the neon green accents and graphics.
The inside of the vehicle is a little more subtle with new Alcantara seats, as well as an Alcantara covered shift boot, dashboard, headliner, doors, and visors. There will also be a new audio system and racing pedals.
Before we go into detail as to what ARK Performance has modified for the Veloster’s Gamma 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, you should know that the tuning firm has yet to announce actual numbers for the sports coupe. That being said, the list of modifications and additions point the Veloster in a very speedy direction. ARK has added a new turbo charger and intercooler system, an intercooler piping system, custom oil cooler, turbo manifold, and a lightweight pulley system. Stopping power will come from a six-pot big brake kit, while an eight-point Chromoly rally style roll cage will provide safety measures in case of a crash. Other features include a track coilover system, upper strut and front and rear sway bar, camber and control arms, and a dual exhaust system with RSEPC downpipes and test pipes.
ARK has yet to announce pricing for their Hyundai Veloster rally car, but we should know more when the car debuts at the 2011 Sema Show which takes place from November 1st-4th.
At this point, there are no other tuning upgrades for the Hyundai Veloster, but we expect many more once the car debuts. Aside from that, any tuning packages for the standard model’s competitors are fair game. This leaves models like the Honda CR-Z which is powered by an IMA hybrid system made up of a 1.5 Liter gas burning engine and an electric motor. The electric motor adds 14 HP to the setup for a grand total of 124 HP and 131 lb-ft of torque. It is priced from $19,200.
