2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo

The 2012 Hyundai Veloster made its debut at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show and it warmed our hearts in terms of looks, but its 138 HP leaking out of the Gamma 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine chilled us to the bone. Shouldn’t a "sports car" have a little more push that that? Hyundai ’s answer to that question came to the 2012 Detroit Auto Show when they unveiled the new Veloster Turbo - a model powered by a new 1.6-liter turbocharged-gasoline direct injection engine that delivers a total of 201 HP.

Next to a more powerful engine, the new Veloster Turbo will be distinguished by a bigger, bolder hexagonal front grille, sculpted side skirts, and new dynamic rear bumper with prominent diffuser vents. The car sits on a new set of 18" gray wheels with chrome inserts. For the interior, Hyundai has added full leather seats with the word "Turbo" stitched into the seatbacks and an exclusive Supervision Cluster that offers the driver information in a larger, clearer, and more interactive format.

UPDATE 06/04/2012: Despite previous rumors, the Veloster Turbo won’t be priced under $20k. Hyundai has announced today prices for the new Veloster Turbo: $21,950 for the Veloster Turbo equipped with a 6-Speed Manual Transmission and $22,950 for the 6-Speed Automatic version.

Exterior

Hyundai Veloster Turbo

When we first saw the Hyundai Veloster, we immediately fell in like, but when the new Turbo version took its turn, we were in love. The Turbo version adds aggression and aerodynamic stability to the stout little machine, allowing it to look better than ever. The Veloster Turbo’s unique design takes inspiration from a custom high-performance sport bike, starting with the exhaust system. The standard trapezoidal center exhaust has been replaced with two larger free flowing circular pipes that, combined with new intake manifold, also allowed engineers to give the engine a more robust sound to delight enthusiasts.

The Veloster received a bigger, bolder hexagonal front grille, more sculpted side skirts, and a new dynamic rear bumper with prominent diffuser vents in the lower fascia as aprt of the aeridynamic package associated with the Turbo model. A first for Hyundai is the new Matte Gray paint that can be combined with a set of new 18" gray wheels with chrome inserts. The new wheels are combined with Kumho Solus KH25 215/40R18 85V tires, a McPherson strut front suspension, coil springs, gas shock absorbers, and a 24 mm diameter front stabilizer.

Sounds really great, knowing that this veloster have a turbo edition but still I’m not still impressed with what the article said about the engine performance of this but I must also say that I appreciate every detailing on it.

This car should have an impressive speed performance, so that its names really suited for it. I could not give further comment on this one, I’ll just wait for other update news about it.

When will be the next update news about this Hyundai Veloster turbo? I can’t wait for that! Hmm, Veloster should really be an impressive car.

I still don’t know if what is the special features of this Hyundai Veloster for it to be a better competitor. Looking by this, I can’t see even one, the article didn’t elaborate the features of this Veloster Turbo but sure, it really had the looks.

@Ashton Blake. I think you don’t know what you are saying. What is the connection of Zebra and the Bugatti with this one? By the way, I’m not really impressed with the performance of the car. It is filed under sports car, but it only gives 200+HP.

Yeah , it looks like a Zebra, but it doesn’t matter for those who want to buy. For we all know, Bugatti is very famous especially their Veyron series. If you buy the car, you buy the name.

Seen a Veloster once before being by a member of our club, and I definitely like from there on. Good thing the chap let me take it for a short spin, I really like how it handled.

Never thought that I would really fall in love with the Veloster. But now, this is definitely one of my favorite cars. I really like how easy it is to drive and its overall maneuverability.

Good thing that they will be including a new engine for this one. The previous Veloster was actually a good car, though my only complaint is that it is not all that powerful.

Hyundai Veloster turbo can really chilled your boned. The warm looks and
additional power output that makes the engine speed up in a highest level performances.

Great! Hyundai release its new versions as more great performance ability as well as better look exterior designs. Nothing can surely bit the high performance ability and expect the great well equipment made of this.

I think that they have increased the car’s performance, since this is a sport edition. By much, I don’t really know, but I am sure that this car would perform very well.

Well, since this one is still a Veloster, you have a pretty good idea of how well the car would actually perform. But it would indeed be a good thing if they have increased it.

The engine performance of the car looks fantastic. However, I think it would be better if Hyundai gives additional information on Hyundai Veloster.

Beats me why they actually call this one turbo. It doesn’t really go as fast as I thought it would. Good thing that it actually handles great though.

Yeah, I wonder if what make an upgrade on the exterior cause it looks the same with its predecessor. However, the speed performance of this car is quite amazing.

That new output would be still be quite a bit off when compared to other similar cars in the market. But that one is fine with me, since it would still push the Veloster faster.
