Hyundai ->ke201 already revealed the new-generation Genesis sedan, but it looks like the coupe version will remain the same for at least another year. For 2014, the Genesis->ke2924 Coupe received only minor updates, with the biggest one being an improved six-speed manual with carbon-coated synchronizer rings, new exterior colors and some new duds on the inside.

For the exterior, Hyundai focused on adding more standard features, like heated mirrors and fog lights, and five new colors. Updates on the interior include a new cloth interior scheme, an improved navigation system, enhanced seat bolsters on R-Spec variants and Blue Link telematics with Assurance Connected Care.

As with the previous model year, the 2014 Genesis Coupe will be offered with a choice of two engines: a base 2.0-liter four-cylinder and a more powerful 3.8-liter V-6. They can be combined with an improved six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Prices for the 2014 Hyundai Genesis Coupe start from $26,350.

Competition

BMW 435i

BMW's latest 4 Series Coupe is a recent addition to the sports coupe market, but it has received a warm welcome this far. The 435i is a key competitor for the Genesis Coupe 3.8, thanks to its 300-horsepower, 3.0-liter I-6 engine that also cranks out 300 pound-feet of torque from 1,200 to 5,000 rpm. This engine mates to a standard eight-speed auto box that help sprint the coupe to 60 mph in just five seconds. With the optional six-speed auto box increases the sprint time to 5.3 seconds.

Prices for the 2014 BMW 435i start at $46,925, which puts is well in excess of the Genesis Coupe 3.8 R-Spec.

Scion FR-S

Scion FR-S is an option for buyers looking at the base Genesis Coupe. It comes with a 2.0-liter, boxer engine that delivers a total of 200 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. Unfortunately, this engine is much less powerful than the base 2.0-liter in the Genesis, but we're sure the FR-S is better in the twist. The engine comes mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.

Prices start from $24,930.

Conclusion

The 2014 Hyundai Genesis Coupe remains one of the coolest sports coupes on the market with a pretty reasonable price. The only problem is that in the past few years, it has gained plenty of new competitors, so Hyundai definitely has some work to do in coming years.
