Infiniti G37 Convertible - new official image

The L.A. auto show is one day away, and the auto show page revealed new images of the 2009 Infiniti G37 Convertible. The drop-top G37 will go on sale in the U.S. early next year, and Europe should get the car by the end of 2009.

The convertible version is based on the current G37 coupe and will feature a three-piece automatic retracting hardtop, enabling it to keep a coupe-like roofline. The convertible also features a unique interior treatment with automatic adjustment to audio and ventilation systems so the top-down driving experience is still pampered.

Under the hood Infiniti is using an engine already used in the coupe and sedan versions, as well as another car debuting in LA, the 370Z. The engine is the 3.7-liter V-6 rated at 328 hp and is mated to a choice of a new 7-speed automatic transmission or close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission.

2008 Infiniti G37 Convertible Bloomingdale Special Edition

Although this car may look cool, be careful. When someone asks where you got this special edition Infiniti G37 convertible, you may have to respond, "I got it at Bloomies!" - not very manly.

This limited edition G37 is offered exclusively through Bloomingdale’s annual holiday catalog. The Infiniti Premier Edition G37 convertible features a dark gray Platinum Graphite exterior, exclusive Monaco Red leather-trimmed interior with hand-crafted, red-stained genuine maple wood trim, and a special grille and 19-inch aluminum wheels.

2009 infiniti g37 coupe - pricing announced picture

Infiniti will increase its pricing on the 2009 G37 coupe. Compared to the 2008 model year, most increases are about $1000. Pricing are as follows: the standard G37 coupe is now $35,900 (up from $34,900 in 2008), G37x AWD is $38,700, G37 coupe in Journey trim is $36,650 (up from $35,650 in 2008) and the G37S in 6MT trim is priced at $37,000 (up from $36,200).

Infiniti believes that with these increased prices there is also increased value. Highway mpg goes from 24 mpg to 26 on 2009 rear wheel drive models. A new color "Moonlight white" is added to replace ivory pearl. Also, for an extra $130, 2009 models have an optional glass breakage sensor.

So, you can go to the dealer now and get a 2008 model, or pay $1000 more and wait and for a 2009 model with better fuel economy and new options.

Thanks to David for the tips

2009 Infiniti G37 Sedan

Infiniti will unveil at the Geneva Motor Show the 2009 G37 Sedan, a model designed especially for the European market. It will be offered with either a rear- or all-wheel drive system with drive taken to the wheels via a slick six-speed manual or an advanced seven-speed automatic transmission.

Four-Wheel Active Steer (4WAS) is available as part of the Infiniti G37 Sport model (see standard and optional equipment). This helps improve handling performance by varying the front steering ratio and adjusting the geometry of the rear suspension according to steering input and vehicle speed.

An AWD version, known as the Infiniti G37x, uses Infiniti’s ATTESA E-TS (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All Electronic Torque Split) all-wheel drive system, as found on EX37 and FX models will also be available.

The G37 Sedan will be powered by a 3.7-litre version of VQ engine family. Regularly honoured in independent awards the world over, the twin cam 24 valve V6 produces over 310PS and an impressive over 350Nm of torque. Prices for the 2009 Infiniti G37 Sedan with 7-speed automatic transmission starts at $33,250.

Press release after the jump.

Infiniti Europe launches internet based "reservation list"

Infiniti, Europe’s newest premium car brand, has launched an internet based ‘reservation list’ in response to demand from customers eager to be among the first in their country to own one of the company’s range of performance cars when deliveries start from October 2008. Potential Infiniti owners can sign up by visiting www.infiniti.eu where the list has now opened.

The process is very simple. After entering a few details, Infiniti allocates the customer a personal reservation number. This is then passed to the nearest Infiniti Centre who will contact the customer before pre-ordering opens, inviting he or she to place their order which will then be given priority. But anyone hoping to jump the queue had better sign up soon. Infiniti’s reservation list will only be open for a limited time until 30 September 2008. According to Infiniti Europe’s Marketing Director, Bastien Schupp, almost 10,000 people have already signed up on www.infiniti.eu to be an Infiniti Insider. “We’re pleased to see that excitement and anticipation are building even faster than we expected,” Schupp said.
