2011 Infiniti G Coupe

In 2010 Infiniti offered a new front fascia for the G Coupe, so some would figure that the 2011 model would come bearing no changes whatsoever because that’s how the auto world typically rolls. That wouldn’t entirely be true. The 2011 Infiniti G will be offered with a new Sport Package on their all wheel drive model and a Navigation Package that joins the Premium Package as standard on the Sport 6MT model. In addition, there are new 18-inch and 19-inch wheel designs. What will stay the same is the fact that the 2011 G Coupe will be offered in four models, with prices ranging from $36,200 to $42,400.

The new Sport Package add special sport-styled seats with thigh extensions and power adjustable torso and thigh bolsters for the driver, unique steering wheel stitching, and high-grip aluminum pedals.

Under the hood there is the same 3.7-liter VQ37VHR V6 engine with VVEL rated at 330 HP and 270 lb-ft of torque. The engine is coupled to a 7-speed automatic transmission with manual mode, downshift rev matching, Drive Sport (DS) mode, and Adaptive Shift Control (ASC).

UPDATE 11/29/2010: Infiniti has released two new commercials to promote their new Infiniti G37. Called the Magical Snowball and the Mischievous Snowball, these two commercials are, of course, a battle between the Infiniti and its German competitors.

Autumn Convertibles: 2010 Infiniti G37 Convertible

Take a trip back, if you’re able, to a few weeks ago when we reviewed the Lexus IS250C. In that review we made the claim that the IS250C was a major step up from the old SC, which we hate with the same passion as Republicans hate Democrats.

While Lexus had years to realize their SC mistake, Infiniti had nothing. The company hadn’t had a convertible since 1992 with the M30. Starting from scratch might be saying a tad much, as the G37 was built with a hardtop in mind. That being said, taking the top off a car, even if it was designed to have it done, isn’t an easy task to accomplish.

With all these different factors in mind, we took out the new 2010 Infiniti G37 Convertible, with the sport package, out for a week of driving around town. Did the newest Japanese hardtop live up to big veteran Lexus?

Hit the jump to find out.

2011 Infiniti G37 Performance

In just a few days, at the Concours d’Elegance, Infiniti will be unveiling two new special edition models. The first of them, called the G37 Performance, has already been caught total undisguised.

Compared to a standard G37 model, the Performance version gets a redesigned front bumper with a new spoiler element, larger air intake with honeycomb black mesh, and an upper half that better joins the styling lines extending past the sides of the hood. The G37 will also feature a new rear bumper, a replacement decklid spoiler, and optional tailpipes and wheels. The car sits on 19-inch wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza 245/40 tires.

Unfortunately, we still don’t know which engine Infiniti will be placing under the hood. The only thing we do know is that the two new models have been described as "a new engine option, not an all-new model." Something tells us we won’t be getting any information on the new engine until the climactic unveiling at Pebble Beach.

Official details will be revealed on Sunday, August 15th with sales beginning at the end of the year.

2010 Infiniti G37S

infiniti g37s picture

The 2010 G37 has become one of the most popular entry level luxury cars on the market. The line itself has been a hit since it evolved from the original G35 series that, at the time, only featured a sedan and a coupe, which continues to be a top seller for the brand. Fast forward a couple of years to 2008 when the G35 evolved into the G37. The new exterior was more than enough to catch a second glance at the line, however, a new power plant and safety features were also introduced with this new version of the G series. This helped many potential consumers make their decisions when purchasing a luxury sports coupe. Then, in 2009, Infiniti managed to get everyone’s attention yet again by launching a hardtop convertible version of the G37 to the market. The convertible was stunning and some would think that should be enough to please the crowds, however, Infiniti didn’t see it that way. As a result, we are introduced to the Infiniti G37S convertible in 2010 and the crowds have gone wild. Still true to its sleek line, the G37S convertible is able to keep the same sophisticated characteristics that we have come to recognize from Infiniti and, at the same time, increase the way it performs. This is thanks to a new powerplant that is able to allow the G37S convertible to evolve yet again into a luxury sports car with all of the performance and comfort features to back it up.

Video: MT’s new Fatal Four-Way Topless Drag Race

Motor Trend knows how to make the ultimate throw-down among rival manufacturers: pit them against each other in a good ol’ fashion fatal four-way Topless Drag Race!

For this event, MT brought together an Audi A5, a BMW 335i, a Lexus IS350, and an Infiniti G37 – all of which, incidentally, are convertibles. It’s the showdown of showdowns to determine which top-down machine takes home the coveted bragging rights for winning Motor Trend’s special Topless Drag Race.

We’d spoil you the result of the race but where’s the suspense in that? But just so you won’t get caught off-guard, we’ll give you a little teaser of what to expect – or not to expect, for that matter.

It’s not the kind of drag race you’re accustomed to seeing.

515hp Supercharger System for Nissan 370Z and Infiniti G37

In its standard versions the 3.7-liter VQ-series V6 engine from the Nissan 370Z and Infiniti G37 develops a total of 330 hp. Its good, but not impressive for a sports car like the 370Z. So Stillen comes with a Supercharger System that raises the power to an impressive 515 hp for both models.

The tuner designed a new cast aluminum intake manifold specifically for this system, featuring longer runners and a large plenum for the engine to draw air, complete with integrated air-to-water intercooler system, dramatically cooling the air charge from the Vortech V-3 Supercharger unit. The tuning steps include: an ECU based tuning device, larger 600cc injectors, and high output fuel pump.
