2011 Infiniti G37 S Coupe Rally Safety Car

How odd would it be for rally fans to see a Nissan , let alone an Infiniti , getting its tires dirty in the world of rallying? The Japanese automaker isn’t exactly a name synonymous with rally racing, so you might need to excuse us for being a little apprehensive when word broke out that an Infiniti G37 S Coupe would be part of the Spanish Rally Championship.

Turns out, though, the G37 S Coupe will not be doing any rally racing of its own. Instead, it has been tapped as the official rally-spec safety car of the SRC. Color us surprised with this bit of news.

To cope with the rigors of the rally world, the G37 S Coupe’s chassis and suspension were strengthened. Among the new additions to the car’s make-up include new Bilstein dampers, upgraded brake pads, its very own light bar and siren, a roll cage, a new set of Sparco race seats and harnesses, a fire suppression system, and high-performance Michelin tires.

Other important features added to the rally safety car include a GPS navigation system and a plethora of communications equipment developed to assist the car in case of an emergency.

In terms of powertrain, the G37 S Coupe safety car will have the same output coming out of the standard 3,696cc 24-valve V6 engine – 320 horsepower – and will be mated to the standard six-speed manual transmission.

Infiniti may not be all that known in the world of rally racing, but if the company ever needed to get its feet wet in the often dusty and muddy world of rallying, this could be the first step in doing so.

It seems that the Infiniti G37 Sports car has got an over speed resistance of output
standard 3,696cc 24-valve V6 engine – 320 horsepower. It’s kinda amazing capability performances.

I don’t think that Infiniti would be joining rally racing anytime soon. Just look at the past seasons, they have yet to field a car. It might be just that they were handpicked for that.

Well, if they do go that way, they already have a good platform that they can play with. Just take a look at the specs of this one, it would really suit the track it would be running on.

Well, who knows, Infiniti might actually field this one if they do join the race next year. Maybe they’re just using this car to test its capabilities for next year’s race.

This one actually looks good enough for it to actually race the entire track. Too bad, they’re keeping this one only as a safety car.

Well, considering that it will be doing safety duties this time, it is a good thing that they have beefed up the G37 S’s own safety features. These will certainly come in handy.

If you think of it, since rally racing lets out only one car on the track at any given time. It is unlikely that the same pile up in the Le Mans would happen here. The safety car then is only used for getting to troubled teams.

hmm. I remember the Audi Safety car ruined the race during LMS season! Well, for the Infiniti safety I do believe that this would be a great beginning to enter the world of rallying race!

I really don’t know much about safety cars but based on my research they are used ti guide the race in reduced speed so I think the speed performance of this car is just OK.

I can see that it has a roll barrel installed and the cars height looks a bit higher than the usual G37. Infiniti is really getting better each year on rally races, I’m just hoping that Mustang doesn’t release their own rally car version, It could win the competition in no time.

Nah, this one won’t probably go that way. Rally racing is way different from Le Mans, so it would be quite unlikely that such a pile up can happen.

Oh crap, another one of those fancy safety cars, I have yet to get over the incident with the Audi car in the Le Mans. But this would probably have different fate since it is rally racing.
