Nissan will unveil the 370Z this autumn, but it won’t be the only cool thing coming from the company. It seems that Infiniti is also working on a new baby coupe based on the Z.
But, while the future Z car will go on sale next year, the future baby Infiniti will only be seen in a concept version next year and production will follow in 2010.
The future baby coupe will be based on the same platform as the future Z. It is supposed under the hood there will be the 2.5-liter V6 engine, the smallest model in the Infiniti range.
The new baby Infiniti two-door will rival the BMW Z4 and Porsche Cayman for size and will be a rear-wheel drive two-seater hardtop.

Infiniti today announced pricing on the all-new 2009 Infiniti FX luxury crossover SUV, which goes on sale June 24 at Infiniti retailers in the United States and Canada. Europeans require better quality for their cars, that’s for sure. And even if Infiniti has a real success, they need to adjust on the European market if they want to have the same success in there.
There will be big differences between American and European models when the brand debuts in October in nine European markets.
Those push-button switches in the wood-grain consoles? Gone — replaced by knobs that are closer to what Mercedes or BMW customers in Europe would expect to see.
The European models will have new heated-seat systems, new stabilizers and bigger brakes than their American cousins. A new seven-speed automatic transmission will be offered. Windshield wipers will have more powerful arms, and the window seals will be heavier.
Engineers are making 300 to 500 changes per car to prepare for the introduction.

Infiniti, Europe’s newest premium car brand, has launched an internet based ‘reservation list’ in response to demand from customers eager to be among the first in their country to own one of the company’s range of performance cars when deliveries start from October 2008. Potential Infiniti owners can sign up by visiting www.infiniti.eu where the list has now opened.
The process is very simple. After entering a few details, Infiniti allocates the customer a personal reservation number. This is then passed to the nearest Infiniti Centre who will contact the customer before pre-ordering opens, inviting he or she to place their order which will then be given priority. But anyone hoping to jump the queue had better sign up soon. Infiniti’s reservation list will only be open for a limited time until 30 September 2008. According to Infiniti Europe’s Marketing Director, Bastien Schupp, almost 10,000 people have already signed up on www.infiniti.eu to be an Infiniti Insider. “We’re pleased to see that excitement and anticipation are building even faster than we expected,” Schupp said.

In a document presenting the financial results for the fiscal year 2007, ending March 31, 2008, Nissan revealed plans for 2008. Nissan will launch nine all-new products during fiscal 2008: Teana, Infiniti FX, Maxima, Bakkie successor, Qashqai+2, a mini SUV, Cube, Z and Infiniti G37 Convertible.
The 2009 G37 Convertible will be inspired by the 2008 Coupe version; this means it will combine the same exhilarating performance, stunning styling and modern, sporty interior of the original Infiniti G Coupe.
Under the hood of the Convertible version we will see a 3.7 liter V6 engine with an output of 330 hp and a peak torque of 269 lbs-ft.
The Infiniti G37 Convertible will go on sale in February 2009 in the United States.

Infiniti announced that the company wants to create a model to compete with models like BMW 1-Series and Audi A3. It will be a totally new model, totally different from anything else in the segment.
Rumors say that the baby of the new Infiniti range could be a small, high-end SUV crossover, fitting in below the EX35 SUV — currently Infiniti’s smallest offering. A coupé-cabriolet is also a possibility. Whatever it looks like, this entry model would go on sale in 2010 and could cost around £22000.

Is not the first time you hear about this: Nissan is working on a four-door version of the 2009 GT-R. It will be sold under the Infiniti badge starting 2010.
A source told AutoExpress, "Launching new cars these days is all about recouping investment costs. Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn wouldn’t have approved the GT-R if its hi-tech chassis and transmission were not going to be used in some way in other models – including products from Infiniti and [sister firm] Renault. It’s the only way of making it pay. So building a performance Infi-niti saloon is perfect business sense."
The 4-doors GT-R is internally known as the R50. It will be powered by a choice of two powerplants. Most obvious is the GT-R’s 473bhp twin-turbo 3.8-litre V6 – although they may be forced to use the 5.0-litre V8 unit recently unveiled in Infiniti’s all-new FX50 SUV. That’s because Nissan produces the GT-R’s engine by hand – output is only 50 a day, which would be nowhere near enough to supply Infiniti, too.
