Indian auto manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, has acquired Italian auto design and engineering firm GRD. The move indicates Mahindra’s desire to go global with their future products.

Financial details of the deal with Turin-based G.R. Grafica Ricerca Design (GRD) were not revealed.

"This acquisition will help us strengthen our existing design capabilities, help us emerge as a global auto design powerhouse [and] provide a solid European footprint," said Pawan Goenka, president of Mahindra’s automotive unit.

The company will be renamed Mahindra Graphic Research and Design after all the formalities are complete.

Mahindra manufacturs Utility vehicles and tractors. They are one of the key players in the Indian automobile industry and have partnered with Renault for manufacturing the Logan . Mahindra’s Scorpio SUV is sold in the U.S by Global Vehicles USA, and is also planning to launch the hybrid version of the SUV sometime later this year.

Ferruccio Covini’s first attempt on a six-wheel super car dates back to 1974, yet the idea of using a double front axle was to shy for the technological progress. The project was abandoned in favor of the Soleado project.

Renzo Rivolta was born in 1908. His father was in the wood milling industry and owned many properties in Italy and abroad. While looking for a business with a more secure future he came across a little company close to Genua specialized in the production of refrigerators and heaters. This little but modern factory was called Isothermos and Renzo managed to buy it in 1939. During the war he was forced to move the factory to Bresso, because of the bombardments in the Genua area. In Bresso he found an old villa with a large piece of land which was perfect for his needs. He was able to fool the German’s for a long time and kept the factory running during the war. He died in 1966.

Spada Codatronca Concept is a new supercar build in the spirit of the "Italian Auto Body". The car has been designed by the Studio Spada Spada concept in the colaboration with UKGarage.
