Jaguar XKR


Jaguar will bring the special edition XKR 75 to the Goodwood Festival of Speed. As you might have guessed from the name, this special edition was built to celebrate Jaguar’s 75th anniversary, next to theXK 75 Edition unveiled a few days ago in Australia.

The XKR 75 is powered by a 5.0-liter supercharged engine that delivers 530 HP (a standard XKR develops 510 HP) and 655 Nm of torque. The top speed is limited to 174 mph and the sprint from 0 to 60 mph is made in 4.4 seconds.

The special edition is distinguished by revised suspension and handling, a revised aerodynamic body pack with a front splitter, side sills extensions, a rear diffuser, and a larger rear spoiler. It comes painted in a Stratus Grey finish with red brake calipers to create a remarkable contrast to the 20-inch gloss Vortex forged lightweight alloys.

The XKR 75 will be limited to only 75 units and will go on sale in July. In UK it will be priced at £85,500.

At its official unveiling at the 2009 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the special edition Jaguar XKR Goodwood Special made quite a sensation. Now the company has decided to put the car into production and latest reports suggest the production version has made the Nurburgring Nordschleife in 7 minutes 58 seconds. Granted, that’s no 6 min 58.16 seconds provided to us by the Ferrari 599XX , but it’s impressive nonetheless.

During an interview at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Jaguar’s managing director, Mike O’Driscoll said "This is definitely not a level of performance anyone would have associated with the XKR before now." He also said the production version will have a top speed of 186 mph.

The 2009 Jaguar XKR Goodwood Special was powered by a supercharged 5.0 Liter V8 pumping out 510 HP. It was painted in a lime green exterior color and featured a lowered suspension, 21" alloys, and a tweaked exhaust system.

If there’s one video that provides you with everything you need to know about how the men and women behind the scenes work together to make the RSR racing team live up to its enormous potential, this episode of the Return to Glory video series is about as good as it gets. These guys live for racing and they’re working their hardest to make sure that the product is capable of producing results.

What goes on in building a race car? That’s a question that’s been asked by curious bees since time immemorial, but since the whole process takes a long time to be documented in detail, Jaguar ’s US-based racing team, Jaguar RSR, was kind enough to show us how they built their XKR-based GT2 racer from the ground up - in a little more than 30 seconds.

While the specific details of the whole process are a little too fast for our liking, the time-lapse video does show us a quick overview of the building process of the car that’s scheduled to compete at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans as part of the brand’s 75th anniversary.

Jaguar will unveil two special editions Jaguar XKR in March at the Geneva Motor Show. Called "XKR Speed Pack" and "XKR Speed and Black Pack" this two special editions are based on increasing the car’s performances.

The XKR Coupe with new optional Speed Pack can hit an impressive top speed of 174 mph thanks to a unique engine and transmission recalibration. Besides that it adds a revised front aerodynamic splitter and larger rear spoiler to provide increased balance and a reduction in lift.

The XKR Speed and Black Pack will be available in Ultimate Black, Polaris White or Salsa Red and boast eye-catching 20-inch gloss black Kalimnos alloy wheels. It also adds red painted brake calipers contrasting strongly with the black alloy wheels, while body colored front and rear spoilers.

Jaguar announced its return to the Le Mans 24 hours race, being one of the most successful British make in the race’s history with a total of seven wins between 1951 and 1990. The American Le Mans Series racing team RSR , headed up by long time Jaguar privateer racer Paul Gentilozzi will bring their 2010 XKR GT2 to la Sarthe for a race twice around the clock this June. The next generation Jaguar XK-R race car was designed as a joint effort between the American racing team RSR and Jaguar’s Advance Design Studio, which is headed by the automaker’s chief designer Ian Callum.

"Spirits will be high around Jaguar’s return to Le Mans but we must remember the incredibly high level of competition - a podium place in our category will not fall into our hands. That said, I can guarantee 100 per cent commitment from JaguarRSR and urge fans of Jaguar and Britain’s racing heritage to support the team whole heartedly," said Paul Gentilozzi who will drive the JaguarRSR XKR GT2 in the 2010 American Le Mans Series.

If you were to vote the best commercial of the 2009 year which one would it be? Don’t know about you, but experts say this 2010 Jaguar XFR /XKR is the best one.

And it kind of having it all, no? Cool design, interesting graphics, maximum energy and a beautiful lady.

Both models made their world debut i n January at the Detroit Auto Show.

The American Le Mans Series racing team RSR, headed up by long time Jaguar privateer racer Paul Gentilozzi has just finished working on the next generation XK-R racing car in time to compete this weekend at the 1,000 mile Petit Le Mans in Braselton, Georgia this weekend. The 2010 XKR GT2 racecar was designed as a joint effort between the American racing team RSR and Jaguar’s Advance Design Studio, which is headed by the automaker’s chief designer Ian Callum. The experience of the veteran racer and Jaguar’s main body man has resulted in over 1,100 man hours molding clay and laying carbon fiber to create a shape that is fast and manages to maintain the feel of the factory vehicle.

The race car began its life as a brand new Jaguar XK-R, and despite being a fully built race car maintains much of the original car’s aluminum body panels; like the roof, doors and deck lid. Intensive computational fluid dynamics analysis by the automaker’s aerodynamics department has led to some interesting body work, like the trailing GT style rear wing, redesigned front bumper and extremely wide front fenders. The new 2010 XKR GT2 racecar is a vehicle that both Gentilozzi and Jaguar feel will become one of the most competitive Jaguar racing cars to compete in one of the most competitive ALMS GT2 fields in a long time.

When the green flag drops at 11:15 AM on September 26, the hills surrounding Road Atlanta will roar with the sounds of fire breathing race cars, but there will also be a new voice in the crowd, the XKR GT2 car with a trio of seasoned racers behind the wheel; the American Scott Pruett, the Belgian Marc Goossen and RSR team owner Paul Gentilozzi. If anyone can handle pulling a double duty like this one, Gentilozzi can.

Jaguar XKR by Startech

If there was ever any doubt about the Jaguar XK ’s status as a sports car the tuners STARTECH have a new customization program for both the naturally aspirated XK and boosted XKR that will put any of those negative notions to rest. The modification specialists have integrated a set of LED driving lights into the front bumper as well as a few carbon fiber bits to the exterior and a bamboo wood interior. The STARTECH feline is ready to pounce, lowered by over an inch and hunched down on a set of three piece 21 inch Monostar J Diamond Edition wheels.
