2012 Jaguar XK and XKR Special Edition
 
With rumors of a limited run XKR-S Coupe buzzing in the air, Jaguar is giving us a brief slice of what ’special edition’ means in their parlance. Headed to the 2012 Geneva Motor Show are a pair of special edition models of the XK and XKR that come with some pretty eye-catching exterior and interior details. The former includes an array of color options that customers can choose from: Celestial Black, Crystal Blue, Lunar Grey, Polaris White, Rhodium Silver, and Ultimate Black. In addition, Jaguar also fitted the sports car a choice of two headlining color options - Navy with Jet or Truffle with Canvas - and two new sets of 20" alloy wheels wrapped in diamond-turned Venom wheels with a dark grey finish. As for the interior, Jaguar put in a couple of trims, highlighted by two exclusive Artisan interior color ways: Navy with Jet headlining and Truffle with Canvas headlining. As for the convertible variants, the British automaker is also providing more options for the hood, including a choice of four colors: Black, Blue, Grey, and Brown. The interior also has seats dressed in a tactile ‘scraffito’ finished leather, an instrument binnacle, door and rear quarter casings, Poltrona Frau leather headlinings, and two new veneer finishes: Shadow Walnut and Dark Figured Aluminum. Last, but certainly not least, the XK and XKR Special Edition models will receive Jaguar’s Dynamic Pack which comes with an modified engine that bumps up the car’s top speed from 155 mph to 174mph. The Pack also includes side sill extensions with new rear diffuser, revised adaptive dynamics, spring and damper rates, and a new front steering knuckle for optimized precision.  The days when Jaguar was considered a "daddy car" are now long gone. The British automaker, once known for being a tad conservative, has begun to roar and bare its claws with a slew of new models that are all far more aggressive than what we’ve become accustomed to. And now, they’re taking that bar up to a whole new level with reports coming out that the company is considering building a handful of special-edition XKR-S Coupes that will be completely track-focused. According to Frank Klaas, Jaguar’s Global Head of Communications, the proposed special edition XKR-S Coupe will be built and developed specifically for those who would want to stretch their legs on the track and lap or race to their heart’s content. There’s no word yet on what this car will look like, but considering its purpose as a track-focused sports car, it could very well be redesigned, with the removal of the rear seats, the addition of race seats, a fire suppression system, and the inclusion of a roll cage being the first changes made. Consequently, some of the plush amenities of the "standard" XKR-S Coupe will likely be removed in favor of lighter equipment. For their part, Jaguar is keeping a lot of things about the car tight-lipped, although it wouldn’t surprise us to see a prototype model making the auto show rounds in the near future so the company can gauge customer interest. 2013 Jaguar XKR-S Convertible
Jaguar made a sensational decision in producing the XKR-S Coupe and they have decided it’s time to expand the impressive line-up with the addition of a new Convertible model. The new XKR-S Convertible made its world debut at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show and is the most powerful and fastest open-topped GT Jaguar has ever built. The convertible uses the same 5.0-liter supercharged AJ-V8 engine as the coupe version. It delivers a total of 543 HP and a peak torque of 502 lbs-ft; enough power to sprint the car from 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds on its way up to a top speed of 186 mph. Just like the coupe version, the XKR-S Convertible received an impressive aerodynamic package that helps maintain stability in an open-topped car capable of speeds as high as 186mph. More than that, all the exterior changes make the XKR-S look more aggressive and sportier than ever. Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar Global Brand Director says, "There is nothing as liberating as life behind the wheel of an open-topped Jaguar and the new XKR-S Convertible takes the Jaguar GT experience to new heights." Before we even get into the top list of sportscar for 2011, we think it would be best to clear something up: the new Porsche 911 would have definitely made the list if it wasn’t for the fact that it won’t be hitting Stateside until 2013. That being said, we have a few top hitters for 2011 that we would be foolish not to take notice of. It was a battle trying to choose between the plethora of options provided in the sports car segment, but what we ended up with was a range of 450 HP to 560 HP, 0-60 mph sprint times between 4.6 seconds and 3.7 seconds, and speeds topping out between 186 mph and 198 mph. Among the sportscar heavyweights is the intoxicating Jaguar XKR-S, the luscious BMW M5, the curvaceous Chevolet Camaro Z06, and the maddening Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale. We don’t usually associate Playboy with cars, unless scantily clad women were somehow involved, but the American men’s magazine has just unveiled the top 11 hottest models people should buy in 2012. Now guys can really say they are picking up Playboy’s latest issue for the articles! The top spot for this honorable list goes to none other than the fastest production Jaguar ever built - the XKR-S! But next to this remarkable sports car is the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4, the Fiat 500, the Range Rover Evoque, the Lexus CT 200h, the BMW 1-Series M Coupe, the Bentley Continental GTC, the Ford Mustang Boss 302, the Audi A7, the Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG, and the Hyundai Veloster. Twenty years ago, Jaguar hit it big with the XJ220 supercar which set a production-car lap record at the Nurburgring race track. Time has past, but Jaguar is still churning out some pretty fantastic models, including the Jaguar XKR-S launched this year at the Geneva Motor Show. So what happens when you put the two supercars next to each other? That’s what Chris Harris from British magazine, EVO, did when he had the opportunity to test the two vehicles. The XKR-S may have been left way behind the XJ220, but who cares? We still love the XKR-S with its AJ-V8 all-aluminum powerplant with twin-vortex Roots-type supercharger delivering 550 HP and its impressive top speed of 186 mph! By comparison, the XJ220 is powered by a 3,498cc 24-valve twin turbo V6 engine with 542bhp and can hit a top speed of 220 mph. The Purr of the Big Cat: Jaguar’s Lineup is both Elegant and Sporty
Jaguar is known for a lot of things with the words "luxurious," "classy," "elegant," and "powerful" being thrown around most often. Their full lineup of vehicles exude power and class, and have done so since 1949 when the XK 120 was born. They have followed the bigger and better trend over the years, but their elegance and sport have always been a staple in their production. Their new lineup continues this trend with the XJ, XK, XF models glistening in the light of Jaguar’s success, and offering even more sparkle for the future. World’s biggest James Bond auto collection scheduled for 2012 exhibit
James Bond may be a fictional character to all of us, but the dashing debonair / awesome secret agent is still an inspiration to all of us. Who wouldn’t want to be in his shoes? He’s got a killer job, he scores the hottest women, and best of all - at least in our case - he drives the fanciest cars. That last part is such an integral part of the Bond legend that an exhibition is actually being planned to showcase the largest collection of James Bond vehicle to ever be displayed. The whole event is being prepared through the collaborative efforts of the UK’s National Motor Museum, Beaulieu and EON Productions, which is doing the groundwork for the event in preparation for the 50th anniversary of Ian Fleming’s Bond franchise. Around 50 cars are expected to be included in the exhibit highlighted by the 2008 Aston Martin DBS from Quantum of Solace, the 2002 Jaguar XKR with SFX weapons from Die Another Day, the 1964 Aston Martin DB5 from Goldeneye, and the 1937 Phantom lll Rolls-Royce from Goldfinger. The exhibit will be held at the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu, United Kingdom and will run the entire length of the 2012 calendar year. “Following the success of the first Bond cars exhibition staged at Beaulieu in 2001, we are delighted to be working with EON again on this new display, bringing together the world’s largest collection of Bond vehicles, Beaulieu’s Commercial Director, Stephen Munn said. The exhibit won’t open for another few months, but it’s safe to say that we’ll be dropping by to check it out if we find ourselves in the area next year. Spy Shots: 2013 Jaguar XKR-S Convertible
Well, here it is folks! The convertible version of the hotheaded Jaguar XKR-S has finally been caught testing at the Nurburgring showing off its black soft top roof and snarling V8. We expected to see this version of the monster Jaguar at the Geneva Motor Show next year, considering Jaguar has made a grand appearance at every Geneva Motor Show for the past few years, but the barely there camouflage hints at an earlier debut. Maybe we are looking at a Los Angeles Auto Show superstar? The new Jaguar XKR-S Convertible will share the same wide wheel arches, front and rear carbon spoilers, and extra front air scoops as the coupe model. It will also get the same tuned Performance Active Exhaust to go along with the AJ-V8 all-aluminum engine with twin-vortex Roots-type supercharger. This engine will be able to push out 550 HP and 501 lb/ft of torque and deliver performance times similar to the 0-60 mph time of 4.2 seconds and the 186 mph top speed of the coupe model. 2011 Jaguar XKR-S
It wasn’t that long ago when, in the middle of their brand reinvention, Jaguar released the refreshed XKR sports car at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. A year after the new XKR made its debut to the public, Jaguar is headed back to Geneva with another XKR model. Only this time, it’s the hot-as-a-scorching-summer’s-day XKR-S. The new XKR-S features exclusive new paint colors that reflect Jaguar’s racing heritage. As with competition Jaguar cars of the past, the exterior of the XKR-S adheres to the principle of form following function. Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar’s new Global Brand Director, describes the car as a "bold and exciting new model for Jaguar". He adds: "The styling of this car isn’t about image, it’s about true performance. Like other iconic Jaguar cars before it, the styling has been driven by geometry and aerodynamics for genuine design purity."
