2014 Jaguar Crossover

It seems that automakers learned their lessons and turned their attention from large SUVs to smaller crossovers. Take Land Rover from example. Before the fuel crisis and the new emission regulations you have never expected to see a small model like Evoque in their line-up. But the world asked for it, and they brought it. And it was a wise decision: everyone was impressed.

Taken all this under consideration, Jaguar and Land Rover owner, Tata, decided to give it another try: a more luxurious version sold under Jaguar logo.

Of course this is not the first time you hear about a possible Jaguar crossover, but this time it was almost confirmed by Jaguar Land Rover spokesman Stuart Schorr who said that the future line-up will include "expansion of our portfolio from the current eight models over the next five years, including at least two new models, as well as a number of new body styles and a broader range of engines and technologies."

The exterior and the interior

It is believed that a crossover will help Jaguar’s sales. And this statement should come as no surprise. Imagine how many people will be interested in a crossover with a design similar to the recently launched XJ sedan and with a luxurious interior.

The engine

The future Jaguar crossover will be built on the same platform as the recently launched Land Rover Evoque. It will be an all-wheel-drive model powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder. You wouldn’t have expected to see a four-cylinder engine in a Jaguar crossover, right? But taken under consideration the current situation, it seems to be the perfect choice. A four-cylinder engine will ensure a low fuel consumption, and in turbocharged version will deliver enough power to offer great performance numbers for the crossover.

The competition

The list of competitors will start with the Land Rover Evoque and will also include models like Audi Q5 or BMW X3 . The Evoque is powered by a 2.0-liter Si4 turbocharged engine that combines direct fuel injection and twin variable valve timing. In USA it will be priced from around $45k.

The 2011 X3 will be offered with both four-cylinder diesel and straight six-cylinder petrol engine. In USA the models is priced from $37k.

When can I buy one?

Jaguar’s priority at the moment is a roadster model (smaller than the XK), so do not expect to see the new crossover before 2013-2014.

LOVE IT
  • Turbocharged engine
  • Impressive look
  • Will offer much more luxury compared to competitors
LEAVE IT
  • Only one engine option
  • More expensive compared to competitors; luxury comes with a price after all

I like its impressive styling. I feel very excited about its turbo charged engine and its promise of offering more luxury compared to its competitors. Well, I can’t wait to see this into production.

A turbo charged engine car..? How sweet! It made me feel so excited about the release of this mobile. Anyway, i would like to give credit on its impressive styling, its COOL!

I’d love the fact that it had a turbo charged engine, so impressive for a crossover car like this. Anyway, as for the looks of it, I must say that this one is looking so great and fabulous on its body paint.

Can’t wait for this to hit in the market. I can see here the Evoque chassis can be made to work quite nicely with Jaguar’s design characteristics.

It seems a luxurious car and impressive car lines and styling and I also noticed its front headlights is so cool! I want to see this in person when they do some road test on this one.

Crossover is the new name for SUV. And crossover didn’t sell well in US.

Is it true that jaguar crossover’s goal is to improve the market in the eastern United States and Europe?

It will accouter a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder. Astonishingly, this crossover comes with a four butt engine.

This one is clearly a bad Photoshop. With all that strange perspective of different components.... this small headlights and the tall hood... it is impossible Jaguar to ever build something looking like this!

The resemblance with Cadillac is because of the tall hood. As a matter of fact this is a american cars characteristic!

Has something that makes me think of the Cadillac. Not sure what!

Too cadillacish, too american, It truly lacks the english style and refinement!
