Jaguar->ke39 will be celebrating R performance brand's 25th anniversary with the unveiling of the special-edition XKR-S GT at the 2013 New York Auto Show. The model has been designed as a track-focused, street-legal version of the XKR-S and will be limited to only 30 units: 25 for the U.S. and five for Canada.

The new GT special edition will feature a bespoke aerodynamic package made in carbon-fiber and including: a new front splitter, extended wheel arch spats, a rear diffuser and a large fixed rear wing. It will also feature Polaris White exterior paint with unique graphics and a Jaguar “R-S GT” logo on the hood. For the interior, the new XKR-S GT will combine Warm Charcoal paint with red accents.

The XKR-S GT will also add improved suspension and high-performance brakes with carbon-ceramic discs.

Updated 04/08/2013: When Jaguar unveiled the XKR-S GT at the New York Auto Show, it announced the model will be limited to only 30 units. However, Jaguar boss, Adrian Hallmark, announced that the production could be increased to 50 units. Of course, this increase will only happen if the market bears demand for it. Exterior

The new XKR-S GT will be distinguished by an aggressive aerodynamic kit that includes a carbon-fiber front splitter that extends the car's width by 60 mm (2.36 inches). The model also receives carbon-fiber twin dive planes and wheel-arch extensions and for the rear, a carbon-fiber diffuser and an elevated rear wing that works in combination with the deck-lid-mounted spoiler to maximize rear downforce.

When driving at speeds of 186 mph, the XKR-S GT produces 320 pounds of downforce and the enhanced hood louvers will offer an optimized engine cooling.

All 30 units will be offered in a Polaris White exterior with unique graphics and Jaguar “R-S GT” logo on the hood.

Interior

The white exterior will combine Warm Charcoal with red accents. Jaguar will offer Performance seats finished in soft-grain leather and Suedecloth, Jet Suedecloth headlining and steering wheel, aluminum paddle shifters, and numerous XKR-S GT logo.

Drivetrain

Under the hood, Jaguar placed an all-aluminum 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 engine that delivers a total of 550 horsepower and 501 pound-feet of torque. The engine is offered with technologies, like spray-guided direct injection (SGDI) and dual-independent variable cam timing (DIVCT).

The optimum sound engine is delivered by a fully active performance exhaust system with valves that open under load.

The XKR-S GT will go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds and up to an electronically limited top speed of 186 mph.

Suspension and Brakes

The biggest updates for the new GT model are made to the suspensions and brakes. For the suspension system, the front and rear arms, wheel bearings, bushings and rear subframe are all new. Also new are the spring and damper module design, while the Adaptive Dynamics damping system now features dampers with adjustable ride-height.

The car rides on 20-inch forged and lightweight alloy wheels finished in gloss black and wrapped in Pirelli Corsa performance tires. These super-sticky tires are sized 255/35 up front and 305/30 at the rear.

The GT also receives a high-performance brake system with internally ventilated and cross-drilled lightweight discs measuring 398 mm (15.66 inches) up front and 380 mm (14.96 inches) at the rear.

Prices

The new Jaguar XKR-S GT will initially be limited to only 30 units, but this number could increase to 50 units, if the market bears the demand. Prices will be announced at a later date.

Competitors

BMW M6

The BMW M6 is powered by a V-8 engine that delivers a total of 560 horsepower and a peak torque of 500 pound-feet. This power is just enough to sprint the car from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds and, when adding the M Performance Package you can hit a top speed of 189 mph.

Nissan GT-R

If you want to buy a track-focused and street-legal sports machine, the Nissan GT-R is definitely the first choice. It is powered by a 3.8-liter V-6 twin-turbocharged engine that delivers a total of 545 Horsepower and 463 pound-feet of torque. For the 2014 model year, Nissan announced a 0 to 60 mph sprint time of 3.1 seconds, while top speed goes up to 193 mph.

Conclusion
