A recent report suggesting a coupe->ke141 version of the Jaguar XE->ke3138 is in the works got us thinking; what would a coupe version of the XE look like and more importantly, what kind of engine will it have? The latter is a question that we don’t have answers to, but the question of the XE Coupe's looks was solved by a quick email to our crack rendering team and voila, we have an image.

The rendering that our artist created of the future XE Coupe is based on the sedan->ke142 model. True to form, our artist delivered with a detailed rendering that looks brazenly like a hard-charging coupe->ke141 with the intentions of destroying the 4 Series and C-Class Coupe.

Remember, Jaguar->ke39 has not officially confirmed plans of an XE Coupe, only throwing out that thinly veiled statement of "never say never." Take it for what it's worth, but if you're putting stock on it like we are, this rendering should at least point you in the right direction as far as what the XE Coupe could look like.

Rendering

Obviously this may not be exactly what the XE Coupe will look like, but it is what we anticipate to see, give or take a few minor touches here and there.

The front section remains largely unchanged, which isn’t surprising considering that the XE Sedan’s short front overhang and long bonnet already give it a coupe-like look. The high character lines on the side panels create a muscular appearance befitting that of a coupe, so it was naturally retained and modified to fit the car’s dimensions. Another noticeable change is the absence of the C-pillar, something you normally see in coupe models.

Drivetrain

At this point, the drivetrain options for a potential coupe model are unconfirmed, but I would assume that it'll mimic the sedan. This means one can expect to see the F-Type-sourced, supercharged, 3.0-liter V-6 that cranks out 340 horses and 332 pound-feet of twist. This would also net the coupe a full line of gasoline and diesel four-cylinder engines.

Competitors

BMW 4 Series

The new BMW 4 Series Coupe has been getting a lot of publicity lately, something we attribute to the car being a heaping pile of awesome. It has also presented itself as a worthy competitor to cars like the Audi A5 and the Mercedes C-Class. Additionally, It's more aggressive than the 3 Series Coupe ever was, which is short of saying that the 4 Series looks nothing like its predecessor.

The 4 Series Coupe has two engines to choose from, with the base unit in the 428i being a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder that delivers a total of 240 horsepower. The 435i gains a Twin Power Turbo, 3.0-liter, inline-six engine with 300 horsepower.

Pricing starts at $40,500 for the 428i and rises to $48,000 for the 435i xDrive.

Audi A5 Coupe

The Audi A5 is considered one of the top luxury coupes on the market. It's arguably the first choice of many luxury car buyers with a lower budget and, quite frankly, it's one of my top choices, too. When you're looking for a car like this, nothing beats one that features premium luxury, good performance and a great price. Ideal for car nuts like myself.

U.S. customers can also choose between three different trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige. All of them are offered with a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder, TFSI engine that delivers 220 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.

The 2015 A5 is available now from $40,000 for the A5 2.0 TFSI Premium to $48,400 for the A5 2.0 TFSI Prestige trim.
