2012 Jaguar XJ Ultimate Edition

There’s a good chance that anybody who has a Jaguar XJ in their garage probably has somebody doing the driving for them, but their ride along may get more interesting with Jaguar’s latest XJ special edition. At the Beijing Motor Show, Jaguar will be presenting the XJ Ultimate Edition, a special edition model that takes Jaguar luxury to the next level.

The XJ Ultimate Edition will feature plenty of luxury additions, including two separate, fully-reclining rear seats, folding aluminum tables, and just in case the owner gets a little parched, there’s also a cabinet specifically for a champagne bottle. iPads have also been fitted behind the front seats and goes pretty well - albeit slightly confusing - with a pair of TV screens on the back headrests.

We all know how the Chinese love high-end luxury sedans, so it’s no surprise that the XJ Ultimate Edition will be available for the Chinese market and will sell for a little under $180,000.

Updated 04/25/2012: Jaguar has unveiled a very cool promo video for their latest Jaguar XJ Ultimate Edition. Enjoy!

Jaguar debuts brand new supercharged V6 and turbo-four cylinder at Beijing

1.

The Beijing Auto Show press days are here and just before the doors officially open to the public, Jaguar has announced the two latest additions to its current engine line-up. Both engines will be forced-injection and mated to eight-speed ZF transmissions, making these new additions look extremely attractive.

The range-topper of the two will be a supercharged, 3.0 liter V6 while a turbocharged 2.0 liter in-line four cylinder will also make its world debut. Unsurprisingly, the new V6 engine will deliver more power and torque than the four-cylinder, delivering 340HP in base tune and up to 380HP when the engine is fitted to the incredible F-TYPE roadster previewed a few weeks ago.

Jaguar is keen to point out that the new V6 draws on the technology used in their flagship 5.0-liter V8, so the British manufacturer seems to have hit a home run with this latest addition. As previously mentioned, it will be supercharged making use of a twin-vortex unit and a water-cooled intercooler.

As for the new four-cylinder, it is said to pump out 240HP and is a direct decedent of the 2.0-liter unit offered in the stunning Range Rover Evoque. Furthermore, this engine will only tip the scales at 304 lbs, and is likely to be offered in future base Jaguar models, as well as an entry-level variant of the F-TYPE sports car.

2014 Jaguar F-Type Coupe

Not too long ago, Jaguar unveiled the first official details for their F-Type roadster which is set to be announced later in 2012 with sales to begin in mid 2013. While the official details confirm that only a roadster version will be offered, in an interview with AutoExpress, Design Director, Ian Callum, revealed that a coupe version will also be offered in the next 12 to 18 months.

"A coupe version will appear. Buyers in this market tend to keep their cars for 12 to 18 months, then they want something new. We’ll leverage that by offering a coupe. That’s going to be vital to keeping the car’s lifecycle going."

Callum also confirmed that the production version F-Type version would take 95%of its design elements from the C-X16 concept: "Sometimes a production car can be a big disappointment after you’ve seen the concept, but the F-Type will include 95 per cent of the C-X16. I can promise that you won’t be disappointed."

The new Jaguar F-Type Roadster will be powered by a 3.0-liter V6 engine that delivers a total of 250 HP in the normally aspirated version and 375 HP in the supercharged R version. Jaguar has also confirmed that the future F-Type two-seater convertible will be priced under the current XK, or at about $85,000. That would mean the F-Type Coupe would have a similar if not identical engine lineup and will also be in the same price bracket, possibly with a few thousand dollars knocked off.

TopSpeed Rendering: 2013 Jaguar F-Type

1.

A few weeks ago, Jaguar officially revealed the first spy shots for the upcoming F-Type roadster. The F-Type will be announced later in 2012 and will borrow about 95% of its design elements from the C-X16 Concept announced at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. We couldn’t wait to see the final product, so we went to the drawing board for a quick glimpse into the future.

The future Jaguar F-Type will be powered by a new 3.0-liter V6 engine that delivers a total of 250 HP in a normally aspirated version and 375 HP in the supercharged R version. Jaguar has also confirmed that the future F-Type will be built as a two-seater convertible and will feature all-aluminum construction. The model will be priced under the current XK, or at about $85,000.

Let us know what you think of the rendering for the upcoming Jaguar F-Type roadster in the comment section below!

2013 Jaguar F-Type Roadster

Last year at the Frankfurt Motor Show Jaguar has announced the C-X16 Concept and because people’s reaction was quite positive, the company has decided to offer a production version. The new sports car will be named F-Type and will be announced later in 2012 with sales to begin in mid 2013.

"That car will be called the F-TYPE, and it will be unveiled in production form later this year. The core appeal of Jaguar’s cars is their sporting heart, and that heart will beat stronger than ever before in the F-TYPE. Its development is a vivid representation of the confidence and ambition of the Jaguar brand, and the desire amongst our engineers and design team to produce a world-leader in a market segment that we have been absent from for too long. But no longer – the F-TYPE is coming."

Jaguar C-X75 production moving fast; Gas-turbine setup will be offered in experimental track car

Jaguar unveiled the very cool C-X75 concept supercar at the 2010 Paris Auto Show and since then, we have heard all kinds of rumors about a possible production version. According to Inside Line, the development of the hybrid supercar is moving fast, but don’t expect to see the gas-turbine setup from the Concept to show its face in the production version. The Jaguar C-X75 is being developed in cooperation with Cosworth and the Williams F1 team. Williams will be responsible for developing the car’s carbon-fiber tub and bodywork, as well as its hybrid driveline. The power setup will include the four electric motors attached one to each axle and a supercharged 1.6L four-cylinder gasoline engine that develops 313 HP. Those cool microturbines aren’t entirely gone though. Jaguar has put them in the Jaguar and will more than likely be using it to create "an experimental car" for track use only.

Engineers did come across a few problems when modifying the concept to production form. The Williams team had to do some extensive aerodynamic work on the body of the vehicle to make sure it could produce enough downforce to travel upside down at 120 mph. The engineers calculated that the C-X75 needed 1.562 square meters of air intake - much more than the car’s front end had. These aerodynamic requirements changed the design a little, says Jaguar’s global brand director Adrian Hallmark, with the C-X75 "looking more like a sculpture than a car, and more beautiful."

The production C-X75 will be limited to only 250 units, each priced at $1.15 million, and will be unveiled sometime next year. No dates were provided for the release of the experimental track-only C-X75.

2013 Jaguar XF Sportbrake

We absolutely just love talking about wagons that we’ll never get to see on our side of the pond. Wait, scratch that. It actually sucks to hear that Jaguar has finally unveiled the XF Sportbrake and Europe will be one of the few that will actually revel in its luxurious five door space. It’s not their fault that the British brand is going where the wagon demand is at its highest nor that we decided bigger was better before giving these in-between vehicles a chance, but we’re still a little envious.

The XF Sportbrake was supposed to make its world debut in March at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, but Jaguar decided to offer the first details one week before the actual event. While the car’s front is identical to the sedan version, the new XF Sportbrake is entirely new from the B-pillar and back. Under the hood, Jaguar has placed a range of four-cylinder 2.2-liter and V6 3.0-liter diesel engines with power going up to 275 HP.

UPDATE 03/13/2012: Jaguar has unveiled a new video featuring the car’s designers explaining all the little details that went into creating the stunning new wagon. Hit the jump to watch the video.

2012 Bertone Concept Nuccio

Italian coach builder, Bertone, rarely makes waves, but when they do, they have a propensity to just take your breath away. Incidentally, the last we heard from these guys was when they unveiled the Jaguar B99 Concept at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

Now, Bertone returns to Geneva with a new concept in tow, one that’s being called the "Concept Nuccio." Making things extra special this year is the fact that Bertone is celebrating their centennial anniversary, and to commemorate this huge milestone, they came to Geneva locked, stocked, and ready to rock.

The concept was named ’Nuccio’ in honor of Nuccio Bertone, the son of company patriarch Giovanni Bertone. It was designed as an evolution of the company’s "cab forward" that started with the 1967 Alfa Romeo Carabo, the 1970 Lancia Stratos Zero, and the 1973 Lamborghini Countach. The concept combines elements from the three concepts in an attempt to create a modern, sporty, and "extreme," fully functional sports car.

UPDATE 03/08/2012: This review has been updated with the official details and images of the Bertone Concept Nuccio.

Video: Jaguar C-X16 Concept is one smooth cat

On the heels of the public clamoring for a production version of the Lexus LF-LC, we’d like to throw our two cents in on what concept we’d love to see on the road soon.

The Jaguar C-X16 Concept.

This new promo video featuring the aforementioned concept only strengthens our undying infatuation for it. "Smooth is Fast" is what the video says, and if we do say so ourselves, we’d give anything to be sitting in the driver’s seat of that bad boy.

The good news is that there’s a strong indication that we’ll see the C-X16 beyond its concept guise because a Jaguar insider has confirmed that the car is inching closer to production and that Jaguar is doing all it can to ensure that everything about the car passes all the stringent safety and crash tests before its green lighted for production.

We certainly hope that Jaguar really pushes through with the concept. Their recent revival has become turned them into a player in the industry and the C-X16 is the kind of car that can really push them over the top against its competitors.

Video: Jaguar XKR-S Coupe is ready to pounce on the competition

It’s very easy to discount a Jaguar sports car against its more heralded competition because you didn’t always get to see the Cat showing off its claws.

But now that the British company has turned over a new chapter in their company’s history, the Big Cat is primed and ready to present their new ferocious feline, the Jaguar XKR-S Coupe.

Think of all the past Jags that ran the streets of the world not so long ago. Now, imagine a sleeker, sportier, and far more menacing version that takes advantage of being the first model to be designed entirely under the guidance of Design Director Ian Callum. That’s what you get with the XKR-S Coupe.

Not only does the design blow your mind, but it’s also got the kind of performance credentials that would make the competition stand up and take notice. This promo video of the XKR-S Coupe will be all the evidence you need to understand that Jaguar means some serious business with their new sports coupe.

Don’t mistake the XKR-S Coupe for meek because if you do, you better be ready to get pounced on.
