Of all the cars that have entered Jay Leno’s Garage , you can make a case that very few are as advanced technologically as the Porsche 918 Spyder . The hybrid supercar from Stuttgart recently paid a visit to the comedian’s auto lair and, as expected, Leno raised some serious hell with it.

But before he got a chance to take the 918 Spyder out on the road, Leno had a pretty interesting discussion with the 918’s Client Relations Manager, Daniel Eastman.

Among the many topics discussed by the two, some of the more pertinent highlights of the discussion centered on just how much of a technological marvel the 918 Spyder really is. Whether it’s the fact that it can hit 70-plus mpg or that it can still hit 900 horsepower, despite being that fuel efficient, the 918 Spyder is really the best of both worlds. It’s an achievement that flies in the face of those who believed you can’t achieve one without sacrificing the other.

The Porsche 918 Spyder is one of those cars that will be talked about decades from now; a true crowning moment for Porsche that will not be forgotten anytime soon.

And in case you’re wondering, Leno took the 918 Spyder for a drive with Eastman riding shotgun. Some guys are just blessed...

Celebrity car enthusiast Jay Leno can get his hands on pretty much every car he wants, including concept cars. The latest to visit his garage was the Nissan IDx NISMO Concept — a car we never expected to see in his show.

Now for somebody who has seen his fair share of quirky cars, Leno’s introduction to the Nissan IDx NISMO Concept caught us a little by surprise because, well, he liked it!

Considering the tongue-looking bumper of the concept and other quirky design cues, it’s amazing that Leno managed to keep his witty remarks to himself when talking about the concept with Nissan Creative Design Manager Giovanni Arroba. The young Arroba, who wasn’t even alive when the concept’s spiritual predecessor — the Datsun 510 — burst into the scene in the 70’s, proceeds to walk Leno through the distinct styling of the IDx NISMO Concept.

The tongue front bumper aside, the concept does come with some unique details, including the bolt-on-style fenders, the anodized finish on the roof rails, the side exhausts and the carbon-fiber rear end, among other things. If anything, the look of the concept was more than enough to make Leno wax poetic on the quirkiness of Japanese design.

From there, Leno got the treat of actually driving the IDx NISMO Concept, but like he said, extra precaution was taken since the car is still a prototype. So there are no burn outs here, fellas...

After watching this video, I cannot help but think that Nissan really has some production plans for this car. Typically, concept cars get stripped of all mechanical components and put in a museum or into storage until they are demolished. Thrusting the IDx back into the spotlight now just seems rather suspicious.

Jay Leno has all of the fun, sans his twice being ousted from the Tonight Show, as he sees and drives some of the most amazing cars in the world. This time around, he got a crack at a Brock Coupe .

It shouldn’t be a surprise if this wedge-nosed beast looks a little familiar toy you, as it is the only licensed continuation of the legendary Shelby Daytona Coupe . That’s right, kiddies, this ain’t no kit car right here... This is car has been given the stamp of approval by Carol Shelby himself.

Only about 130 of these continuation cars are known to exist today, so this is certainly one of the rarest models available in the U.S. And this one is even more special, as it was once bought by Shelby, slathered in racing decals from the Shelby Daytona car and put in the Shelby museum in Las Vegan with no engine.

Bruce Goldsmith snagged up the car, got it licensed, then started tearing into it to make it the monster that it is today.

Jay Leno may have cast from from show business for a second time, but he certainly hasn’t given up his passion for cars. In his latest episode of Jay Leno’s Garage, he features his own 1966 Chevrolet Corvair Yenko Stinger while he interviews its previous owner who completely restored the car to its previous glory.

The story behind the Yenko Corvair is quite an interesting one. Don Yenko — the legendary aftermarket performance builder and who Leno equates to Chevy ’s version of Carol Shelby — specially ordered 100 Corvairs from General Motors. Yenko set out to create a road racer from the rear-engine car. The Corvairs were modified with optional equipment categorized in stages one through four.

Jay’s Stage II Stinger produces 190 horsepower — up from 110 horses produced by the standard Corvair’s engine. That power comes from a rear-mounted, quad-carbureted, 164-cubic-inch (2.6-liter) flat-six mated to a manual transmission that spins the rear wheels. Speaking of wheels, Jay’s Corvair rolls on 15-inch steel rims verses the original 13-inch “wheelbarrow” wheels. The only other modification done after Yenko’s work was an aftermarket air breather added to the engine to keep oil from spewing from the crank vent.

On the road, the Yenko handles well. Its non-power steering and non-power brakes make for an authentic experience, although stopping requires a heavy foot. The flat six’s exhaust note is certainly different from the average 1960’s-era American muscle car .

The Miata never gets its fair share of press these days, but with the model celebrating its 25th anniversary — yeah, it’s 25 years old, folks — it is getting all the press it can handle. Even the big-boys, like Jay Leno , are getting in on the open-top celebration.

Jay, who owns a supercharged, first-gen MX-5 Miata, spoke with the two men responsible for this glorious sports car , Bob Hall and Kenichi Yamamoto, and discussed the progression of the Miata project, which officially started back in 1982.

What was great about this interview is that the two creators did not just talk about the final product. They dug deep and pulled up all of the old and juicy details about the project. One such detail was the fact that the Miata actually had a one-in-three chance of being either a front-wheel-drive or a mid-engine car. Fortunately, the rear-wheel-drive design by Hall and Yamamoto won over the folks in Japan, and the rest is history.

Jay Leno is no stranger to odd cars. His massive warehouse garage is full of such things, and Jay is known for his daily rotation of what he drive to the NBC studios for taping his hit television show, The Tonight Show, which he will stop doing on February 17th when Jimmy Fallon takes over.

But this is Jay’s first time in an aluminum-skinned moped.

The three-wheeled trikes are built by his good friend and longtime builder Randy Grubb. Randy has tooled such things as Jay’s "tank car" and "decoliner." The design of these so-called "Decopods" are yet another original idea form his eccentric mind.

Build from a Piaggio MP3 scooter, Randy strips the trike of its plastic bodywork, lowers the seat an handlebars, and adds on his hand-crafted aluminum bodywork. The 250 cc scooter is capable of hitting 70 mph on the interstate, while keeping the rider sheltered from the wind with the plexiglass windscreen.

Considering himself an artist more than a businessman, Randy will only build six of these little art-deco wonders. He makes mention in the video above about one selling at the Barrett-Jackson auction for over $25,000, so if you’re in the market for one, you’d better save up and speak up.

How do you think a 100-plus-year-old car behaves on the road? Its pretty hard to imagine something like this is even possible, right? Well, in the latest episode of Jay Leno’s Garage, the Jay took a look at a 1910 Buick Bug. The car was delivered by Jeremy Dimick of Flint’s Sloan Museum and the test drive is pretty interesting.

The 1910 Buick Bug was built as a race car and drew its power from an overhead-valve, four-cylinder engine that delivered a total of 57 horsepower. Though that power is low by today’s standards, it was actually pretty good back in its day, and it helped get the 2,600-pound racer to a top speed of about 105 mph.

During the video, make sure that you pay close attention to the its four exhaust pipes, as the spit fire like today’s supercars when the Bug is idling.

In the latest episode of Jay Leno’s Garage , he got behind the wheel of one of the coolest Camaros ever: a 1968 Camaro 427 COPO. Under its hood, the Camaro 427 COPO carries a 427-cubic-inch engine that delivers a total of 505 horsepower. The car is owned by comedian Tim Allen, who said that the Camaro is one of his teenaged dreams.

Should we be surprised that Leno reviewed a 1968 COPO Camaro on the same day that the first 2014 COPO Camaro was auctioned for charity ? Well, maybe not, but it’s always nice to see such a cool car in action.

If in the last episode of Jay Leno’s Garage he had the chance to review the new generation Ford Mustang GT. In this new episode, Jay Leno went back into the history about 55 years and took a look at a 1957 Porsche 356A Outlaw .

This car is owned by Chuck Olenyk and is no ordinary Porsche 356A Outlaw, but one transformed from a coupe into a classic speedster. Making this conversion required more than 2,000 hours of work, and according to Olenyk, all the work was made in his home garage using all factory parts. The car also features the early 911 Fuchs alloy wheels, which makes the Old Porsche look cool and funky.

After a long wait, Ford finally revealed the 2015 Mustang to the world on the December 5, 2013. This time, Ford is going global with the Mustang making it available in multiple markets outside of the U.S.

Currently just a prototype, the 2015 Ford Mustang is not expected to arrive in showrooms anytime soon. That said, the first prototypes have been traveling the globe showcasing all that’s new about the pony car.

The 2015 Ford Mustang GT recently payed a visit to Jay Leno’s Garage. Starting with the Mustang 1, Ford embarked on a journey that created an world famous icon. The first production Mustang with chassis no. 0001 was also at Jay’s garage accompanied by the then CEO of Ford Motor Co.

A good history lesson then, before the 2015 Mustang rolled in and along came the Mustang Chief Engineer who worked on the project. This being a pre-production prototype, Jay did not get to drive it, though.

However, he did get the opportunity of cranking-up the 5.0-liter V-8 engine. And doesn’t she sound like sweet music.
